    **Spoliers Ahead**
In this video we take a look at a super rare vintage Zodiac Seawolf from the David Fincher movie Zodiac, and 2 of the rarest and most underrated James Bond watches (the TAG Heuer 1000 from The Living Daylights, and Roger Moore's Tissot Seastar from Live and Let Die).
We also discuss Phil's favorite watch (the 1957 re-issue for the Omega Seamaster) and perhaps the craziest watch I have ever seen-a smart watch hybrid recreation of the watch from John Carpenter's Escape from New York, worn by the unforgettable Snake Plissken, played by actor Kurt Russell.

My message to Phil; Love your collection and passion. If you are ever interested in buying a watch, reading is one thing but you need a philosophy to better understand what you are buying. Great example is the blancpain brand which was ressurected by mr. Jean Claude Biver, I swore i would never deal with these resurrected brands. However, after reading about Mr. Biver and how he set up the brand, Oh God was I inspired-a young man taking on a broken down brand and then partnering with a great watch maker and vcarrying out one of the very first forms of vertical intergration- he was a pioneer and this made me change my out look. The more you read, the more your principles change or evolve

That Tag has been in my memory since my childhood, my uncle who got me into watches has that model from back in the late 80's early 90's but in stainless steel, that fully lumed dial stuck with me, he hasn't worn it in forever but does still have it, cool watch that definitely helped spark my love of watches.

I bought a Tissot Seastar in 1969 when I was 13 yrs old on a school trip to Interlaken in Switzerland. It cost me nearly all my spending money (about £10). This was a simple manual wind with no complications, but it had a blue dial which I found captivating.
I really wish I still had this watch.

I have inherited my dad's Tissot Seastar 516 which is my daily wearer. He got it for his 21st birthday back in 1967 because it reminded him of the steering wheel on the Jaguar E-Type. I didn't know that it is a Bond watch - so cool.

Really well done, TGV. Truly enjoyed the discourse and the discussion about all of Phil’s pieces. He certainly has e very eclectic and interesting collection. That Escape From NewYork piece is a ton (intended) of watch! Quite fun. I am sure he was grateful for your depth of knowledge oh his pieces. I learned a great deal from both of you. Phil couldn’t have said it better…always seek to learn….the comment on being incurious…..he hit that nail on the head. Wonderful video. Thank you for such interesting, engaging, and quality content. Onward and upward, my friend!!!

Quite a coincidence watching this video today as I only discovered that Roger Moore had worn the Seastar in Live And Let Die last week...So to see it prominently featured on The Urban Gentry was fortuitous so that I can get a better look at it. Also I loved seeing the PVD Tag Heuer from The Living Daylights, an absolutely top notch Bond film in my opinion!

I was a big Fangoria fan when i was a kid . It was a way to learn about horror movies that would never make it into the local theatre or the small movie rental section in my towns store. Kids today would not believe life in a small canadian country town before the internet.

    Hi TGV
    Cool vid😊
I was really surprised that James Bond in the Roger Moore incarnation has worn a Tissot Sea Star. Have my own sad history with that watch although not in the diver version with the bezel. They were very common in the 1960’s in the more dress watch oriented version and I remember the dail layout as being largely the same with the hands, the square markers and all. I inherited one from my father which he bought some time during the late 60’s - and I lost it on a train ride. As the careless young guy I was, and not yet particularly interested in watches, I had indeed noticed that there was a problem with one of the keepers but just tugged it in the best I could. Silly me. I’ve missed that wonderful blue dailed Tissot ever since and have considered buying one back - they’re not hard to come by. But- it wouldn’t of course be THAT watch, not with the same sentimental value...
Really would like to see you make a video about the Zodiac watches. I’ve always been kind of fascinated by them because of that very characteristic design, really a strong design DNA in the world of watches😊
    Keep up the good work👍

    • @theurbangentry
      @theurbangentry  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

That actually helps to understand the Seastar line, I really hope Tissot document and share it's history. So little online about these awake watches.
      Have a great week!

      TGV

    Phil was a great guest...
There was a NY comedian named Chris Rush. He had a bit about clues in movies including Blackula. It was "Puncture Wounds and Chitterlings! Must be Blackula"

Hugo as 007, I cannot believe it. I see him more as a Bond villain. Love seeing more in person guests on the show! 😀

I love my No time to die Seamaster. I bought it because I saw it in the boutique and was just mezmerized.

I have a Tissot Visodate Seastar PR516 circa 1972 +/with what I believe is one of the original available bracelets. It is a metal rally style, if that helps your search. I have a Visodate Seastar T12 Navigator 3-hander, also +/- 1972 which looks a lot like the precursor to the Aqua Terra that has a Guy Frères three pièce H link bracelet with hollow end links where it looks like different end links could have made the same bracelet work with lots of different models, again, if that helps. So glad that the PRX is bringing back what I think was one of the finest lines of watches ever, though I don't care much for the moderrn Seastar. Give the Gentleman Silicium a Compressor-style re-fashioning and there you have one for the ages. Or a PRX Offshore...

Daniel Craig movies made me appreciate the Bond movies at another level. And you made me a « real fan » of the Bond franchise.
The Zodiac Super Sea Wolf 53 Compression collection is really cool, like the one with blue dial and blue bezel. I just discovered the Olympos, striking design.
Cool video with another stunning intro ;)
