I've always been a huge System fan so seeing Serj on here is really cool, I also started reading his new book recently and it's really good. I've always loved how well-spoken Serj is so this was great to watch, solid job man
@@mranderson911 theres a video here on TH-cam where Serj actually pops up at a Tool concert and delivers a scream. When done, Maynard actually does a little bow to him. Its beautiful.
I mean, they’ve toured the east coast extensively for years and did shows & festivals there as recently as right before the pandemic… It’s wild that people who sadly missed out on seeing them at the time now complain that they’re only doing a few shows a year in select cities. To complain about that when an artist has spent decades of his life touring is so fuckin entitled.
System of a down is really responsible for me waking up when i was 12.. going threw highschool self taught knowing the evils going on in government.. i appreciate you guys in System! WHYDOTHEYONLYSENDTHEPOOR
I definitely need to check out this full interview it seems cool. I agree with serj though I don’t get why people call them a nu metal band I just do not see the similarities. I’m not sure what genre id call them exactly but it wouldn’t be nu
You should send this video to Polyphia and Falling in Reverse those bands might reach out to him and we might get a collab between the two in the future!!!
the difference between sleep token and soad is that sleep token have vocals and pop breakdowns that are just corny pop music and soad were just brutal but tongue in cheek in parts. i really wanted to like sleep token but couldn't get into it. but then again im 40 lol not exactly their target demographic haha. nice interview, cheers, currently listening to the audiobook of serj's memoir and it is really an amazing 'book'
Sleep token also don’t play shit live, 99 percent backing tracks and clicks. And even in studio it’s surely just midi instruments, SOAD plays it all and calls in friends for the recordings
Thankful the band is still with us and for the EP a couple years ago. Think Serj's take on a 25% *4 split on writing songs to get royalties squared isn't conducive to writing good songs. Either way kudos to SOAD for telling people that governments are nothing short of criminal gangs
serj even referenced borat in one of his live performances. He even said very nice. Another thing is that sacha barons voice reminds me of serjs A LOT. Especially in his ali G older stuff it has a similar cadence
its so clear that you didn't fully read the book, or maybe you did but didn't quite look more into it. i mean, how can you not know what egalitarianism is when he explained it in his book, and how he would apply it to the band, he basically already answered your question in his book. glad you learned here but... as an interviewer it's best to be thorough you know. impress your guest, that's how you grow as a channel as well.
the title of this video is a lie. this episode has serj tankian, not system of a down. he is not the band, serj/shavo/daron/john are system of a down. you should be honest and title it Serj Tankian
I’m 14 and love SOAD- this is awesome! Love the show!
Appreciate you watching!
I'm 17 and love SOAD, too! I wish I could see them live in Europe, SNW is too expensive for a little fella from the Eastern block like me lol
@ave883 dude You missed those old good days.
I'm 31 but I love SOAD since I was 12, keep that going!
Started listening to SOAD at 10. Am 20 now, still my favourite band
System of a down changed my life man
Same
OMG IVE BEEN WANTING AN EPISODE WITH ONE OF THE SOAD MEMBERS SONCE I FOUND THIS SHOW
Glad I could deliver!
Wow Serj is a software engineer i didn't know that awesome fact and great interview.🔥🔥
I've always been a huge System fan so seeing Serj on here is really cool, I also started reading his new book recently and it's really good. I've always loved how well-spoken Serj is so this was great to watch, solid job man
serj is so wise
amazing interview, thx for sharing this with us!
Appreciate you watching!
Soad and tool would be mind blowing
Those 2 and a up and coming band to open in the new metal/ hard rock line up would complete it
@@mranderson911 theres a video here on TH-cam where Serj actually pops up at a Tool concert and delivers a scream. When done, Maynard actually does a little bow to him. Its beautiful.
@@RoxasMark Which concert??
nvm found it! 😁
I just wish he would do a show over on the east coast, would make my life.
Naa he wants you to go to Vegas and spent 300+ for SNW
I'd love to but being a broke 18 year old just outta highschool makes that hard 😂

@@mistym0rning I'm not forcing them to do anything, I wasn't a huge metal head until last year, I never got the chance dude.
Awesome interview!
Thanks for watching!
i love soad
Criminal to be this early
Happy to have ya!
This is amazing!
4 hours is craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy but let's go!
A new soad album would be so nice
It would be nice, but if they don’t wanna do it, it’s their band
System of a down is really responsible for me waking up when i was 12.. going threw highschool self taught knowing the evils going on in government.. i appreciate you guys in System! WHYDOTHEYONLYSENDTHEPOOR
So many singers talk about the strain of touring. It's always hard on the singer whose body is their instrument.
Imagine System, Rage & Tool as the Download headliners next year 😅🤯 a man can dream.
Me running to get this book🏃🏾♀️!
The first quarter is a little dry but stick with it. It's a great read.
Pretty nice interview
I LOVE SERJ❤❤❤❤
serj pls come to brasil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷

Gald I got too see them back in 2001 my first concert

🤔
I remember first seeing the music video for sugar on MTV at 2 am when I was in the 5th grade. 😎
Awesome interview, wish I could hear it without being spoiled the first five minutes of it
No way!!!
Way
How many episodes should I look forward to?
I try to drop a new one every week!

Jim Carrey as Fred Durst 😂
🤣
He talks about Daron being a control freak and he is trying to do the same
sacha baron cohen NEEDS to play serj. i feel like serj looks like borat dressed up like serj
serj even referenced borat in one of his live performances. He even said very nice. Another thing is that sacha barons voice reminds me of serjs A LOT. Especially in his ali G older stuff it has a similar cadence
❤❤
serj is cool
Damon Albarn rules 🤘🤘
Stay on vacation, lemme substitute.

I’m guessing the majority of people watching this have not read his entire book, so it would be a big bummer for them if I didn’t have Serj elaborate
@JeseaLee that dude has 6 subscribers, better listen to him. He knows what he's talking about.
😂
First 5 minutes is this dude listening to himself talk. Skip ahead to interview.
Yeah it was a bit odd to see him spoil his own interview lol could have left it at just a teaser. Hopefully he takes note for future interviews
I was just introducing the podcast episode.
Damn should’ve asked him his favorite and least favorite System Of A Down song
