My son wasn't into music when he was younger, and his father and I are very into music. We both have very eclectic taste. Our son is 17 now and has developed his own music taste. He has recently gotten into SOAD among other bands I absolutely love and I was thrilled. I love that we can now bond over a shared love of music. It has come full circle I listened to Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin etc with my parents. Now I can share SOAD, Megadeth, Metallica and more with my son.

Serj and SOAD are responsible for opening my eyes to injustice and political corruption as a teenager.
I remember being 15 in 1998, playing PLUCK to my English class as part of an assignment on analysing the meaning in our favourite music. I stood up and talked about the Armenian genocide and my English teacher was amazed to see a new generation learning about politics from their music.
    I've never looked back since. At 41 I'm a commited anti-capitalist, anti-authoritarian, non-conforming pacifist.
I think all of that was inside me anyway but I am so grateful to SOAD for showing me that it was possible to go against the grain. Plus they gave me so many happy teenage memories!

When i read the first 2 paragraphs, i was gonna write "but be careful ! things really have changed since back then, culture is not the same, problems are not the same"
And then you write you are an anti-capitalist and "non conforming" and thought ... they got you man. Capitalism is not the problem nowadays, being "conforming" is not the problem nowadays. But you have to look into this for yourself. Read history, compare it to nowadays, go talk to people on the street and on internet discords, subreddits etc... You have to do it by yourself, good luck !

"My kid's not into music, it's very disappointing." Yikes, hope that was a joke from the interviewer. Right after Serj was talking about how he wasn't pushing music on his kid.

Rick Rubin why did you ruin this band and also RHCP and many other bands with compression?
