    I don't think you will be happy if you approach a car like an property investment looking constantly at its value. You need to love it or just don't buy it.

    • @TABonTV

      Only car I've ever bought as a (potential) investment was the R5. Everything else I expect to depreciate, and have fully enjoyed.
      You'd hope that a GT would hold up pretty good though...

    You have certainly made the correct decision, my current Porsche is a Macan and I have been sooo tempted to buy a Taycan but the current depreciation level is insane and I am not comfortable with loosing so much money, like you say who knows what the market will stand in say 3 years time, going to hang on.

    I think you made the right decision. A GT car is something special, visceral, and engaging. The inputs you make, the noise it makes, and the feeling you are the one making it do what it's doing is what makes it. Regardless of how fast the turbo GT is... it's not really a GT. That coupled with it still being 1st gen EV means the values could drop massively.

    I think the depreciation will be steep depending on the numbers on the market makes more sense as a company business buyer. For the private buyer makes more sense to buy one second hand 2/3 year old and let it depreciate.

  • @andrewhurstcars
    @andrewhurstcars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Good move. That £60k GFV on a £180k car is absolutely wild 😂. You’ve done very well on your current car, makes sense to keep it and run it for the full 36 months, then get a Cayman EV or a Taycan. The Turbo GT is basically a showcase / collector’s car, and only makes sense as a company owner buyer for tax benefits. Private buyers will just go for an EV Macan or EV Cayman - Taycan is too expensive as you say.
    For a new Taycan, I think the smart money is on a £96k 4S with a few options; extended battery, and Active Ride, to get the new tech. Stated 0-60 is 3.5s, so in the real world will be a bit quicker than that knowing Porsche. Now everyone knows the depreciation is so horrific, I can’t see as many people going for a Turbo or Turbo S. The other question is, when will OPCs be offering discounts on new Taycan orders.

    • @TABonTV
      @TABonTV  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, the only way to really fix this is to get the MSRP down to more realistic levels. If people stop buying them - they might just have to!

    • @andrewhurstcars
      @andrewhurstcars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TABonTV yup, doesn’t bode well for private Taycan owners looking to upgrade to the refreshed model. If you take your example, the £60k GFV and near 10% apr doesn’t exactly encourage you as to upgrade when your car ends its term. I suspect current Taycan private owners will just get a Cayman EV instead for much less.

    • @TABonTV
      @TABonTV  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@andrewhurstcars right now I don't think Porsche are too fussed, I heard ~90% of Taycan purchases are through businesses. It's these also dry up (fleet managers / business owners have been burnt and the EV CapEx relief stops) then there could well be a problem for sales.

    What is all this obsession with superfast cars, especially on UK roads, if you are not tracking your EV for the reasons you mention?
    Many roads with speed limit of 20 mph and max 70 mph what is the point? When you are cruising at 70 mph, all cars are cruising at that pace, so you don't feel any different.
    Who is going to go super-fast in race cars every time from one stop light to another with the back full of groceries or toddlers in child-seat, and speed limits everywhere?
    I'm looking at Macan 4 EV (not turbo), and have paid reservation fee. Still fast enough, reasonable Porsche price, and far more practical, more space too, than a Taycan.
    Porsche claim it's the 'sportiest SUV in its segment'. What do you think?

    I got an allocation as well but I think it will step back as the price is to high compared to a Turbo or Turbo S. I think EV´s should only be leased as the price decrease over the next years will be insane and the technological development is making them looking old and not competitive too fast.And the leasing conditions are much worse compared to my actual Taycan Turbo S. Was at my Porsche dealer today but the lease offer made me angry. It´s not a GT3 RS, it´s an EV. Sorry Porsche, but I would get two and a half Model S Plaid for the same rate. Maybe an option?

    Dude, the reason why you got the allocation, as far as I can see from your Porsche-buying history, is because many other, potentially bigger spenders, made the same decision as you! Hi.
    The Porsche taycan is the technology carrier and first EV! If you look at the step from the prefacelift to the facelift it's a milestone!
    The E Macan is the result and the new 718 will be more exciting!
    So, if you buy a Taycan you have to know that you're an early adopter!
    And as we know, the early adopters are losing a lot of money! Always!
    Do you have to buy a GT from that point?
    Only if you like to have the car longer then 10 years....
    Or if you have to upgrade your car collection.
    Or the money doesn't matter.
    If you buy a Taycan GT you're gonna losing about 60k at delivery!
    Same as on the "normal" Taycan!
    BTW, if you think you can make money out of ICE cars, you're totally wrong!
    Only the "limited editions" and Founders specillized editions will give you positive moneybags...... 😉
    The rest is losing on the market of disinterest!
    Take care of yourself! 👍 👍 🙋🏼‍♂️

    Its well known GT cars are normally offered to Porsche owners who have spent a lot of money buying Porsche cars (many losing thousands). You were wise to say NO as the car is just a "look at me car" and bought by people who possibly have more money than sense. Is the GT a daily driver ? I would guess NOT. Like many Taycan owners you have fallen victim to the mass dumping of ex lease cars onto the used market. You mention Taycans for £50k for sale but many are 4 years old and have used half the allowable mileage on the battery warranty (8 years or 100k miles). Porsche have slightly improved range but at a nearly £10k increase from 2024 in the base entry model. The Taycan could save weight by fitting coil overs, lighter 20" alloys, race seats, less technology you don't need (screen for aircon, pano roof, passenger screen etc. look cool but weigh more). I am sure there will be carbon add on parts and spoilers for the Taycan soon.

    The only time to purchase/lease a Taycan is if it is through a company and you can benefit from the tax incentives that come with it.
    I bet they couldn’t believe their luck when your LOI turned up in their inbox - I bet they broke the champagne out.
    Taycan leases are just MASSIVELY overpriced. The equivalent BMW i5 (M60) is some £750.00 a month LESS to lease than the Taycan, although it has the same list price and performance.
    Porsche really need to sort that out as it makes no financial sense to lease or buy one at the moment.
