- I've only had my Suzuki Jimny a few weeks and already I've modified with a bunch of official Suzuki accessories. Check out exactly what I've done to see if I've made a mistake. Also, I get my girlfriend to drive it for the first time... So what did she think of it compared to my last SUV - a Mercedes-AMG G63?

when u get it done by the actual retailer it costs a lot. I lost my GMC key fob and when i asked GMC how much does it cost they said a quoted price of 320 usd. I got the key fob then from a small car shop for 50 bucks

Yeah 5k is a rip off. I’d of tried to do the vast majority of them myself or at least the ones that don’t require the car been on a lift.

I think the U.K. dealer is asking for too much, installing the same parts in my country from Suzuki dealers only cost 2k

My wife wanted to take our car through a ford the other day, I said no because it was too deep but she won't let me add a snorkel...help me! But £900 for diff guards, come on Matt.... Fairly sure you got mugged but hey, if you're happy! The old second gear lever is amazing, I thought our 2003 sorento with a rotary knob and mainly rear drive was old fashioned :)

Perhaps you are missing the point...it is one thing offering these prices, quite another being stupid enough to pay them.
You don't drive a Jimny in 4x4 on hard surfaces! It's even in the manual! I'd expect car journalist to know about things like wind-up...

@@eyeeyeoh Not an issue as the tires have an easy time to slip on ice/snow. The issue is with high grip surfaces like roads.
Why not? Is it because the mid diff is locked in 4x4?
@@wilhelm0022 There actually is no mid diff in the Jimny. Like in so many old style/part-time 4x4's. In effect similar to a locked middle differential indeed.

love a Jimny, good choice Matt. I might be mistaken but doesn't driving in 4wd on the street i.e high traction scenarios, cause binding of the transmission as the wheels aren't allowed to slip?
Love your video Mat. Have been following all your videos with the Jimny. Interested in an offroader using both on road and off-road. Would you be second car (have BMW M4 Convertible) but would like something for a muddy dog, bad weather and most importantly chuck 1 or 2 bikes in the back. What is the boot space like? Would bicycles fit in the back (seats folded down of course)?
I guess Mat hasn't owned a part time 4wd before or read the owners manual....... The Jimny doesn't have a centre differential, so don't engage 4wd on high grip surfaces otherwise the transfer case will torque up and shred the gears. Edit: up vote :)

You would imagine the dealer would tell him that before leaving with it. Wind up is not something you want to learn about the hard way 😀
Also you can shift between 2wd and high 4wd while driving, if front wheels are straight and speed is less than 100km/h. Have to stop between high and low 4wd only.
That totally made me kringe! I would have done the Mini G upgrades instead, then added Tibus Portal axles to make a mini 4x4 squared.
Front grill was good but everything else seems a waste to me. Great car though

Same. All are good imo but damn expensive. I remember getting a rear camera + screen + dascham combo unit for like 13-14 gbp last year. An expensive one would cost 50 at most.
I quite like the wheel cover on the back. Reminds me of a little g wagon
The tow bar and dif protectors seem good purchases, you can put the mudflaps yourself. Rest of it is way too expensive to be justified
I only really dislike that spare wheel cover. That will look horrible and full of scratches in a few months.

Yeah, I agree the price is super steep, but he did that to later be able to sell it at a premium. (youtuber owner, always taken care of, only expensive oem parts fitted, unique car in the future). He'll probably sell it for more than 20k after a few years

@@YourMemeDealer power gets split 50/50 between the front and rear wheels and without an active centre diff (this may not be the right terminology), the wheels will try and spin at the same speed around corners, which is not natural as they all travel different distances. This throws pressure back to the drivetrain and can damage it over time
I actually prefer the original grille, i think it has more caracter with it.

Hey Matt, you're not supposed to use 4H or 4L on tarmac. It puts huge strain on the drivetrain.
It's only really for offroading.
Agreed. It can even cause permanent damage.
For those wondering why there are plenty of 4wd driving around with 4x4 engaged all the time, it is because they are have a permanent awd system with a centre dif that allows slippage. For a better explanation see here: th-cam.com/video/mhTVQh7bFtw/w-d-xo.html
If you want to experience it for your self, try engaging 4H or 4L in a part time 4wd like a JImny and go around a roundabout on dry tarmac see how it feels.

He took it down a dirt track once and had a torn CV boot.
The dealer said that since they’ve had so many people engage 4WD one-road, engaging 4WD in a Jeep Cherokee *at all* completely voided the Driveline Warranty.

Hey Matt! Good going with the original dealer accessories as aftermarket ones may not always work out and need far more tinkering to adapt to the vehicle sometimes. Like your mods wish-list too! Learned a bit about breaking a car in when you went driving with your partner (quite a cute segment). Best of luck!

Congratulations on your new Jimny. I'm a Bromley boy and once won a Fiat 226 from WJKing back in the 80s. Now I live in Greece. I bought a new Jimny here in February 2019. Tomorrow it will have its 2 year service. 15k kms. The Jimny is brilliant. I use it as a second vehicle in full agricultural use. Trailers full of logs and olives to the press. Plus towing a 1500kg boat and trailer up a mountain. Illegal on towing weight but local to were we live. Mine is a GL model in white. Like your SX4. I paid 17.5k EUR and like in UK they are fetching +10k. I'm not selling it is the perfect vehicle here. I don't like the replacement grill but good luck to you, if it makes you happy. The prices WTF!!!.
I have the same rear wheel cover and floor mats as a gift from the dealer on purchase. Very decent of them. I have Thule roof bars exactly the same £70 by mail from UK.
