Mat on his way to buy yet another new car... And he's gone for an all-new Suzuki Jimny! He's actually been planning this for months and months and finally after a loooong wait his car has finally arrived.
Now the Jimny may be the opposite of what you might expect him to pick up, given he's normally seen cruising around in an AMG A4 S or smashing supercars down a drag strip, but if you've seen our review of this little Suzuki then it should come as no surprise that Mat's a fan!
Now it may not feature in many upcoming drag races, especially given it's only packing a 1.5-litre petrol engine that'll manage just 100hp and will hit 60mph in 12 seconds! That is a success. G63 drivers are awful, and a Jimny is a much more sensible (and cool) car. Small, cheap and awesome aesthetic. Also a very capable offroader. I would take a Jimny over a g63 any day.

I had the first Jimny here in Australia.
540cc, two stroke, three cylinder motor, did around 5,000 revs at 100 km/hr and people could see you coming because of the smoking exhaust. Two of you could pick it back up when it fell over. Yeh, they were the days !
Jimny's three stages:
-This car is only meant for farms, it's very tiny and basic, it's not good for highways. The steering wheel is crazy, you need to make micro adjustments constantly. It leans in each curve. Don't but it.
-This car is not for you unless you only want a very simple 4x4 and live in the the countryside. Don't buy it.
-I bought one! I love it! I use it for everything! ❤️❤️❤️
Utter tommy-rot. This car is fun and brilliant as a city run about as well as an off roader. My wife drives one and loves it. Perhaps Christina should try a child's pedal car . . . bless.

In Canada we just get a text or approve it on the banks app.....I thought we were backwards because it takes more than 5 mins.....

Which in the US we do have but just calling them and it takes less than 20 minutes or you know getting it pre-approved or getting a "loan" and a check from a credit union to pay in cash without carrying it.
@@GreenBlueWalkthrough that's fair! I don't think many people buy that large of a purchase via a card anyway. Most retailers require a certified cheque or bank draft. Each has their own way. I was merely sharing my own views.

I love Matt & Carwow but I don't love arrogance and entitlement. He could put his money in a safe under his house if he hates banks...but I'm sure when he gets his coffee in the morning he loves tapping his phone or card on a terminal to instantly pay and go about his day. This transaction was slightly different, I dont work for a bank but I do work in IT and I'm very conscious of the constant attempts of scammers and the likes to steal your hard earned $. Matt, this was not your average transaction mate, the bank have security protocols in place to protect you & themselves, imagine if you had woken up one morning checked your bank account to find some mofo had bought a Suzuki Jimny on your account, pretty sure you'd be asking the bank to instantly refund you the $. Perspective...

@@southhemi4277 I don't mind him having to call the bank, but it should be a 5 minute call at most, not a 3+ times call getting disconnected 3 times all of it taking an hour or more. This really doesn't build confidence in the bank that your money is safe, and you are able to use your money as you see fit at any time any place.
If the world is simultaneous completely flooded, on fire, and blown to bits by category 5 hurricanes, banks should be able to give you all of your money when you want it. Whether its worth more as kindling then what is printed on the banknote at that point, should not be the banks concern. I'm exaggerating, but you get my point.
Well done Matt! A good choice for something a little different. That they've stopped importing the new Jimny after a relatively short time (and not selling that many over here) means it's likely to be an immediate contemporary classic. Thanks for taking us on your journey Matt, it's great to have a little peek into your own personal world. Colour choice? Looks great. I'm a sucker for the dayglow yellow myself.
That '8-year-old-behavin-middleaged-man' was literally me 18 months ago when I bought a black SZ-5 (but the auto version). And I have never been happier with any car!! You won't regret it Matt, and the residuals are awesome! Great video, thanks.

If you can afford the depreciation...you’ll have lost ~10% the minute you leave the dealership😂 If you’re buying new, anyway.
if you can get 0% interest or near to it on a car it literally makes no sense to dump cash into it. especially a new one, which as jamie mentions depreciates like a rock for the first 4 years. at least you he could spend the 20k on something else.

I love the enjoyment and happiness he has! Even when he reviews car after car after car for a living he still gets so exited to buy one. Not the choice for many but I think he's made the right one!!
I owned a Suzuki Sidekick for almost 10 years. It was short, it was choppy, and it was kind of Tippy in corners on hard turning. But it ran like the clappers. And it ran all the time, four-wheel drive, good weather bad weather off-road on road. Didn't matter it ran great. Was a wonderful little car. And I sold it to a teenager from Michigan who is still driving it as far as I know.

These are long-term loans by the manufacturers, not purchases. So he doesn’t own the 8 series or the G63 for example.

I think it's a lovely car, Suzuki Jimny. To be honest, I think any colour looks good on this car. However I think you've made a right choice about other specifications, like alloy wheels and LED head lights. Well done Mat!!!! just bought one yesterday, it's a dark camo green, waiting for it to be manufactured now, they look much nicer with all terrains on! Was the smoothest, comfiest car i've driven, cant wait to get mine, super classy car. There seems to be some manufacturing differences between the UK and the Australian new Jimny's.
Definitely a good choice. The country folk here in Andalucia love them, tough, reliable, go anywhere, and fun.

Well done. Got one as well. Small car, loads of room inside, can seat 4 pretty comfortably for its size, real 4x4, no shitty electronic everywhere. Really nice car. Just avoid highways cause that's not what they're made for. 😉

I watched your other video first about paying for the Jimny. what a time you had. the Jimny looks quite nice and I think you made the right decision in going for black, it would probably be an ideal car for me if I could afford it as I'm agoraphobic, but I do manage to drive around the village where I live, but I only cover 230 miles a year, and I put petrol in my car once a year, so there would be no long journeys in it lol, being in a high up driving position would be good for me too, the infotainment system looks quite good and easy to use, well done on your purchase Mat, I hope that you have many years of happy driving with your new Jimny, I look forward to seeing all of the modifications that you are going to do to it, stay safe.

Because it's not getting imported anymore, I believe carwow doesn't offer this car anymore.
I think the actual problem is, that you cant save money on a jimny through carwow, because the demand for jimny‘s is higher then the supply, so no dealer will give you a discount

Congratulations. There are five trim levels here in Japan and more colour options. Mine is Jungle Green with black steel wheels, which makes it look like a mini Defender like I used to drive in the (British) Army. It doesn’t handle much better on the road but as you say, it’s the character.

I'm only a couple of months away from mine being delivered in Australia. We only had one spec level, auto or manual. We aren't offered black as an exterior colour however we do have a colour called Jungle green. I've gone for the Blue/Black roof combo in manual. Can't wait for March!
The Jimny's a cool shape but it's design features stand out best when there is some contrast, I think the cream and black is quite a cool option. Black on Black is a bit boring.

Jimny is one of the most charismatic cars ever... Owned a 2000 Jimnys for 10 years and everybody I know fell in love with it at first sight. I unfortunately had to sell it because of heavy corrosion of the chassis and I still regret that decision.
There was a terrible mistake made this day, and it was Mat's choice of pants....

I have been looking at the Jimny with great expectation & when they finally appeared in Oz I was not disappointed. As said already, 'ideal if you have a regular car for touring' or what ever. I live on 100 acres down a dusty country road 15 minutes from a small town & the Jimny would be loads of fun for me. Off to the beach, into the bush or up into the high country, it would be ideal I reckon.
My understanding is that they are selling second hand for more than they are/were brand spanking new.
