I think this game would be an excellent ‘pinball for the whole family’. It’s got a lot to offer both casual pinball folks as well as experienced players. What a gem Flip Flop turned out to be.
I just now noticed that the cowboy who rides the bucking horse spits out his dentures from the bucking action *lol* Makes the pinball machine even better. And i love the violent "clonk!" noises when the solenoids reset things. Lovely mechanical macine :D
Awesome video! I think this game would really benefit from having the back end jacked up and playing a bit faster and maybe making that bonus count down go about twice as fast.
They can make the bonus go quicker on solid state machines where it's done with software but on an EM if they make it go any faster you start losing points :)
I just enjoy you channel, and have learned so much when working on my old bowler , next will tackle my old pinball which I had for years with confidence .. thank you ...
One of the viewers noticed the teeth from the old cowboy, now I see it !...maybe the guy on the horse is complaining " My Butt Hurts ! "...wrapping up these last problems is where your skills and experience working with EM Pinballs and reading the schematics really shows.... always interesting.....cheers.
Love this game and those out holes to help you better the sound of those bells put a smaller o-ring on top and it will resonate more. The The wider the o-ring is the more it will dampen or prevent the bells to resonate. I'm currently a percussionist and I'm redoing our old bells because the rubber grommets have failed
George kind of freaked me out last night! lol I Was watching this video then near the end when the spooky music kicked in and when everything went slow, the screen went blank, and the Sky Q box crashed. had to take out the power from the wall to get it going again... Knock it off George!!

That particular one is a Solid State game, so they just have the software pulse the coils however they want to play whatever melody they can play with those notes... on an EM it would be much harder to do, because you would have to have some sort of mechanism to physically send the pulses to the coils on the chime unit since there's no software to do it...

And yes, I can envision the "music box"-type mechanism that you theorized would have to be installed to play a "tune". And I can easily see why they wouldn't bother, especially for a feature that would have no impact on the gameplay itself. There are enough complications inside those things as it is! Enjoying the videos. I'm curious if you have worked on any bingo machines? Those things look like they crammed a whole analog computer inside!
I'm curious what type of camera and tripod do you use? You might have given that info in another video but I missed it. Our camera is a Panasonic 1080p can't remember the model number, and the tripod is just a little cheapo $15 one I bought on ebay, nothing special :) Love the Impressions, I think I like Jerry Butler even more though, that's right up my alley. In my defence it was only one machine that was annoying, it was the one point bell, and it was basically ringing constantly the whole time the game was being played. I was just pointing out that I understood why a previous owner had decided to remove it 🤣

what is with the "DOWN THUMB", come on now, this is the "MONALISA"(last of the "E.M." units) . these units had "CHARACTOR" with real chimes, score reels, with relays that provided the logic that would "ROB" you of 10 points once in a while(OH MY GOSH!!!). I always did wonder why "THEY" did not use D.C. voltage on the coils of the relays. you could operate at a much lower voltage and the "PULL IN TIME" is much faster, and here is the the real bonus to running on D.C., instead of A.C. voltage " NO RELAY BUZZING"!!! just a "CLICK" and thats it. when a relay is "buzzing "what you are hearing is the 60 hz( every 1/60 of a second there is no voltage at the coil) so what is used is a "SHADING COIL" to provide temporary magnetism, if that coil is open the buzzing is unbearable/loud.
I'm surprised they didn't make them DC too, because apparently they must have gotten tons of complaints from people about the coils buzzing, it's all I ever hear people mention so back in the day there must have been a ton of players who would complain to the operators and locations that the coils buzz, but yet Bally never replaced the relay coils with DC ones, it's a mystery to me, it seems like such a simple thing to do to keep all the players happy
you are seeing all of this "STUFF" as aged machines that have been dust collectors for some time. a lot of the problems that you are challenged with, I did not experience those problems. back in the day, when these "flipper units" were new up to 10 years old at the time, hanging out in LARGE game rooms, generating tons of heat, low voltage dips were a huge problem ( 85- 90 volts), and would cause the machines to "DROP OUT"(" game over'). this would happen during the summer when its hot outside. ( friday afternoons). getting such service calls, you would not find anything wrong, this would piss off the owner, because I would tell the owner "THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO ABOUT LOW SYSTEM VOLTAGE".

Some people have redone the bells to be more like the Gottlieb ones. Bells on Bally machines from this period aren't particularly good anyway.
