Elvis’ manager, Col. Tom Parker, said in a press conference shortly after his death: “Elvis didn’t die. The body did. We’re keeping up the good spirits. We’re keeping Elvis alive. I talked to him this morning and he told me to 'carry on.’” (Elvis did not die and he wanted out. - Col. Tom Parker. 1977) After hearing so many stories about the death of Elvis Presley, I have decided to tell the world the real story on the facts concerning that day in August, 1977. Yes, that day, the 16th of August. Is it a coincidence that a person born on that January 8, first month, eighth day, would perish on the 8th month and the 16th day? Probably if two (2) people were born on that day it makes more sense. You see, numerology always played an important part of my life and still does today. So many people have written or spoke about my death as a hoax. It was not a hoax! I decided to reinvent myself in the form of my brother (Jesse Garon) and yes, Elvis Presley did die that day. But after much searching for the right people, I found several people from different states who I consider my most loyal and trustworthy friends. To some people this book will be just another scandalous piece of fiction, but when you are done I think you will think otherwise. I always felt my brother deserved to live and what better way to let him live his life than to end mine. I was lonely, depressed, in bad health and my numerology chart said that this was the time for it to come to end. Anyone who studies numerology will understand, those who don't may want to look into it. All of the facts (and there are many) even the experts will say they are more than coincidences. I no longer give away Cadillacs or expensive pieces of jewelry because I am nothing more than a man who had a very famous brother. I am not a great literate (I never wrote my own songs), but I am not illiterate either. The perfect day August 16, 1977, 1 + 9 + 7 + 7 = 24, my age backwards (42), the facts go on and on. But my true reasons for the book are for my fans. My death was not a hoax! To my fans, please forgive me, my brother deserved to live, he was with me constantly (spiritually). My life would not be the same had he lived at birth. This was my way of giving him life, and corny as it sounds. The Colonel took this secret to his grave. He was a loyal friend. But I will no longer stand by and have people like Gail Brewer tell you stories that are pure fiction. This book written by a true friend will help you realize why I did what I did. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). My fascination with the idea of a hoax about death was when Jim Morrison died July 3rd, 1971. Although I saw no correlation (he died at age 27) I was astounded that as famous as he was the body was just closed up and shipped out. Now I don't know all the facts concerning his death. I thought it awfully strange that no autopsy was performed (or so I thought) and just forgotten about. There were a lot of rumors about his death. I noticed he was born on the 8th day. Born in 1944 = 1-8 and died in 1971 = 1-8. Remember my comeback in 1968? 1+9+6+8 = 24. Obviously, I was no longer 24, so I reversed the age to 42. The next time that number had any relevance was 1977 (1+9+7+7 = 24 when I would be 42. Numerology can and does play an important part of my life and we knew that would have to be the date. Most people if they know what to look for will find significance in the forms of numbers in all of my movies! Example: gravestone in " Loving You" (year) 1878 = ? (1+8+7+8 = 24). You have to look at the movies. My hero James Dean died at the age of 24, but I was on top of the world then and wanted to live. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). I will start about 1974 when the thought first came to me about faking my death. I have always been fascinated with the occult and other spiritual things. I had asked Mr Cooper if he could make another wax dummy for me. He said he could. I in turn said I wanted him to do it and keep it strictly confidential. When I had mentioned it to a very few close friends (Joe Esposito, Larry Geller) they did not think I was serious. I was tired of being Elvis Presley, my health was deteriorating. I just couldn't keep up. My finances were floundering because of my daddy's poor business ventures. I was at my wit's end. As the years progressed I had my ups and downs which are pretty well documented in other books. I also had two detectives from Colorado who I trusted immensely. Originally the date was 1976 according to my numerology charts but I chickened out. A pact was made on the grounds of Graceland one night, hands placed over hands that this secret would never be spoken of outside this room. I picked four (4) of us initially and to this day all have kept the secret. I also know when this book reaches the bookstores people (my loyal friends) will be heartbroken. They took care of me and convinced others that I was no longer alive. In reality Elvis Presley died that day and my twin brother "Jesse" came to life, living in hiding but as a normal human being. I skip around because I am writing stream of consciousness. My own Daddy bless his soul never knew the truth. Little Lisa was told months later and explained to her she would not see me much. The Colonel took this secret to his grave. Many people believe me to still be alive but I was told in the beginning there would be no contact in order for this to work. Many of my friends would ask if I were still alive and they have their doubts but as it was I might have died broke and just a shell of myself. I was given an injection that looked like I was dead but the people closest to me knew better. Believe me I had my doubts that this could be pulled off. But it did and I became Jesse, just a poor white southern boy who didn't sing a lick of anything. I feel bad my Daddy wasn't allowed to know but it just couldn't be done. There have been some wonderful Singers, Entertainers over the years but no on has ever come close to Elvis. The more you hear others sing, the more you realise and understand just how great Elvis really is. The King.
Y'know, I think it's a good place to write that comment: lately, I see SO many people debating wheter Elvis is the king or not. Many of them speak in a really disrespectful way, using terms like "you're wrong" and "Elvis STOLE from Black artists". I'd just like it for others to respect opinions, using OPINIONS, not what they consider "facts". In the end, saying he stole is neither an opinion, nor a fact. He just DIDN'T steal. He never said he wrote a note (expect for MAYBE "All Shook Up", but that's a different story). Point is: respect opinions-if someone thinks Elvis is overrated, or THAT GOOD, it's fine. Maybe they have a different musical taste. Let's just share a burning love for our principles.
The big E was into ballads at this time, and he balked at this song, but what a huge hit... he's doing rock like the fifties.. the band and singers loved it... his rock voice CARRIED THE DAY.. once again.
This was before 73, and he was beginning to get messed up, then he got clean for Hawaii (and looked great too) but then went out again. Sadly the 70's for Elvis was all about stopping and starting. I have this, it is from Elvis on Tour
+Tommy Petersen yes that is correct. Elvis had such a big ego and when his wife leaves him, he starts on a serious path of self destruction. Pricilla never liked the drugs but for a while she hung out in his room with him and lived the addicted life, in the meantime E has this obsession with virgins? He went months without having sex with her (she talked about this in an interview), she said like any other woman she had needs. Elvis had the blonde bombshell in Vegas, had no problems with her? You are so right about his musical genius. Sam Phillips said it best: "Elvis had something about him that was different and when I heard that song That's All Right Mama, I knew it." He went on to say anyone that thinks they can figure it out is crazy, he said Elvis was greasy and had mascara on when he was recording. He said Elvis had a gift that nobody has ever had and nobody will ever have it again, "he was special." I agree his genius was in his great arrangements of songs that turned out better than the original artist's version MOST of the time. 40 years and I still love listening to his music, maybe more now than back in the 1970s. There is some interesting interviews, rehearsals, bootleg movies, everything you ever wanted to know and then some on TH-cam. He had a stage presence like no other entertainer and a God given voice that was incredible ! I was listening to "Sylvia" he has so many ass kicking ballads it is outrageous. I like the classics but I am finding stuff off albums like "Elvis Now" or "Greetings from Elvis Presley BLVD" that are awesome ! I like Hank Williams Jr and he is singing about Nashville, TN and making it in the country scene. Hank says: " The streets are packed with tourists and the record companies flourish, Lord knows Every singer wants to see the King" pretty cool love "The Conversation" with Waylon. I know you like Waylon Tommy and so do I. Are You Sure Hank Done it This Way?? Take it home.......
+Tim Hiland Beautifully written with great insight. Waylon had a voice almost as pure as Elvis but as Waylon said in his book, "Elvis arrived fully formed, and his sound went right through you". Every time I write off Elvis like you I hear his ballads and am just astounded by his range. As he did on The Memphis Record, when Elvis was hungry and really pushing it. there was simply nobody in his class. Regardless, I love your comments, well done.
+Tim Hiland Thanks! I love the fact that you see Elvis as the genius he was but also don't treat him like some " victimized deity " like some people on here do. Elvis had an ego to be sure, but he also had a humble side and would hate being seen as "God-like. I got into Waylon about ten years ago and just can't get enough of his stuff. His 70s stuff is just unreal, he makes even the silliest lyrics ( not that he had many) sound important.

I better go now and collect my thoughts to tell you the rest next time. - The Truth About Elvis Aron Presley In His Own Words. (2001). You Found Me By Pastor Bob Joyce th-cam.com/video/WUI7_rZpl8c/w-d-xo.html
Such positive energy and groove.
Absolutely agree, anyone with an ear for music would concur, as Elvis reached the mid 70's, his voice truly was amazing!
Sa voix a toujours été là même a le king
a great gimmick: to read the lyrics. That is Entertainment, that is Soul, that is the King of Rock n Roll. !!!
No one like Elvis what a great voice moves, looks God bless him

Elvis had set the stage on fire by that song
ABSOLOUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! ELVIS!!!! Forevere THE KING!!!!!
Thanks so much for sharing.
Simply the greatest and my favourite driving, walking song, only one King, love you Elvis.
Nice like how he waved an arm to the band to hear what he wanted .like a conductor band leader .
He was.
This type of talent isn't natural it's God Given
One of the things I've always admired about Elvis is his willingness to send himself up - and enjoy doing so.
No one can sing like the king elvis presley no way
Elvis was so honest live - He was always great in Greensboro, NC - It was one of his favorite places to perform. NC has always loved EP!
The guy really seemed to be having fun trying this gem out.Sheer and utter genius.
THE BEST ELVIS PRESLEY THE KING FOREVER
Darn, i was only 3 years old so had to miss the show. Love the qaulity of this post. Thanks.
Only Elvis could hit it 100% .. plus he had the Flue, & still his voice was silk smooth & gave it all . truely the KING
How can 144 people dislike the King? God bless the King of rock and roll!
They all probably had a NAIL in their arm.
Maybe they hit the wrong icon with their big fat fingers.
I like how the whole band and singers were jamming with the tune.
Cachorro,
Elvis' band members mostly do backup vocals and it sounds amazing. It's wholesome
AND THIS IS WHY HE'S THE KING AND WILL ALWAYS BE ! go on Elvis, Burning Love is my favourite song,
There no one in the world we can find king rock & roll like Elvis
I love Elvis, I have a 9ft animatronic that plays his songs, loved it as a kid, and so lucky to have him less than 10ft where I'm sitting now! :D
To simply the greatest on the sad day that's the 16th August, the day you died, rest in peace King of Rock and Roll.
What respect for Elvis!!! Reading the song as he sings in front of a real audience and the loved it !!!
Reading from a piece of paper and still looking cool

There have been some wonderful Singers, Entertainers over the years but no on has ever come close to Elvis. The more you hear others sing, the more you realise and understand just how great Elvis really is. The King.
So good
THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS ENTERTAINER
This documentary won the Golden Globe award !!!
Il sera toujours parmi les plus grands inoubliables 🎸🎤 Elvis
Best version of burning love
Rest In Peace Elvis
GREAT JOB ELVIS GREAT SHOW .⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡👍👍👍👍
He really was brilliant left us too young miss Elvis forever always listen to Elvis every day 👑❣️💋❣️❣️💋💋🌹❤️❤️❤️❤️
The big E was into ballads at this time, and he balked at this song, but what a huge hit... he's doing rock like the fifties.. the band and singers loved it... his rock voice CARRIED THE DAY.. once again.
Uma das melhotes musicas gravada por Rei
I love Elvis he was a caring and giving person
his pitch, tone, and cords never abandon him. There is Only One King.
When it was time....always came thru and had the game face on.....clutch
This song always sounded better in person! I saw Elvis back in the seventies when he appeared at Hampton Roads Coloseum in Hampton,Va.
This was before 73, and he was beginning to get messed up, then he got clean for Hawaii (and looked great too) but then went out again. Sadly the 70's for Elvis was all about stopping and starting. I have this, it is from Elvis on Tour
:)
Tommy Petersen Thanks Bro you have a lot of knowledge about elvis, cool as shit that you like Waylon.
