im 36 grew up in 80s loved chuck. bruce joe. superfoot. benny the jet. ricky the jet. my instuctors talked about this dude like he was god first time i seen him fight thank you
Never heard of this guy, his hands (offense and defense) were amazing and that spinning back kick is beautiful! He’s got like a Mayweather shoulder defense and the leaping right is like watching a video game character. What a shame of his early passing. RIP Golden Greek🙏🏼🇬🇷
I knew him so good. He was a great karate man. We workout a lot and he ask me once you want to fight on the undercard I said hell yes! I took my 1st degree brown belt test under him cause my instructor bob Beasley made me.
My teacher Dick Bowden used to take me to Dallas with him to watch these guys spar...Dick was an Marine, fast loose and formidable...he loved the Golden Man and they were a special breed of warrior...
Demetrius was a Cousin by Marriage. His Uncle Freddie Mullins (his Mom Laverne's Brother) was married to my Dad's youngest Sister, Gloria Collander (Baker) Mullins. Demetrius taught my brother and 5 or 6 of my cousins at his place at the old Hyatt (?) in Dallas. We also spent a lot of time at Granny Mullins' house in Oak Cliff where his trophies were kept. There was one entire room devoted to them. Unbelievable memories.
The Greek is the Texas Kickboxing and Karate legend and he even fought with Leg kicks at one time so how did the rest of his followers not want to fight with low kicks?
Reading about him in Karate Illustrated motivated me to train. He was an amazing athlete.
Great fight. Much respect to Bob. He kept fighting when most people would have tapped out.
