Eh... I'm less excited about that bit. I've fully moved away from the little green cans and happy to stay that way. The nice thing is adapting a larger, refillable tank to a 1lb fitting is easy.
Thanks for this video. We are still debating on this solution for our next rig. I really like the idea of saving the space a shower would normally take up in a Van or Cargo Trailer build.
I like the way the propane bottle is more protected compared to the new Bouge RV unit that looks vey similar but is priced much lower. The Bouge unit I got was only $269 on the early bird special.
Really like this as well. The footprint doesn’t seem too cumbersome, it seems to ignite instantly, and it’s extremely economical in terms of gas AND water consumption. Man, if I hadn’t just built this dope hot water shower system I saw this dude build on that Independence Overland TH-cam channel, I’d be all over this. 😂🫵🤙. Love’em both brother. Excellent review as always T. 👊 🍻
We’ve been using a $50 automotive detail sprayer for about two years and it works pretty well. I can get an okay shower with just a liter of water. 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah I’ve been using this for the last year here in Australia, it’s sold under their Companion brand. Did he say $499 USD 😳 it’s $380 Aussie here so like $250 USD 😂 Guess supply and demand rules apply. It’s a good unit though. They also make a very good single burner cooker, 12,800 BTU the thing is awesome in the wind.
Love it. I've been using the Mr. Heater brand large heater which is basically the same but uses an AGM battery and is twice the size of this unit. It's an invaluable thing to have when car camping/overlanding, especially if you want to get some action in the woods with the lady. 😉
Those asking why this is more expensive in the US than Australia, probably to do with some import Tax's in the US, it's also probably had to go through local certification process which costs money, and having to offer service / spares all cost's money, I guess if you don't like the price, purchase something else, it's no different to us Aussies trying to purchase anything from the USA it's very expensive and US postage costs are a massive killer for us, AU RRP is $569, but Companion sell it for $399 direct, you can find them for $379 at other outlets, on sale seen them for $329
Tyler do you have a good stand alone easy to set up shower recommendation that would work with a Kakadu system, but doesn’t require a roof rack? One of my trucks has a roof rack but the other does not, so I want to have a shower that works for both trucks. The Suburban may not have a roof rack, but that’s only because it doesn’t need one. 😀
I used one of these once upon a time. Twisting back to shape takes practice, but you can literally set the thing up in like 5 seconds. And it folds almost completely flat. amzn.to/3Pi1bdA
Yeah, it is an expensive option. Slightly more than the Joolca units, which are also known to be high quality. I will be reviewing one soon to see if it’s worth the cost. Looking forward to it.
@@IndependenceOverland I found what I would assume to be a rebranded kakadu in Australia for cheaper but couldn't find any company that would ship it over here lol
Since this is basically a Companion AquaHeat, I'd love to know why it's twice the price in the US as it is in Australia. It's an interesting product, just WAY overpriced.
Probably some goofy import issues or taxes. I’ve actually spoken with several companies trying to get their products state side and have run into issues doing so. Not sure if that explains all of it, but probably part of it.
@@IndependenceOverland Probably. Add 20% cost for import and other stuff, 30% margin for the US branch (which is probably a completely separate entity, therefore will get the parts only slightly cheaper than end customers) - still leaves a good amount open. It's probably a "because we can" thing, which means I'm not buying it and instead wait for the invitable drop in hype and the massive discount that will follow to get rid of the stock they have left then ...
This is exactly the same as the AquaHeat shower which is the Australian version sold in Australia. Kakadu wants us stupid rich American sheep to pay $500 for the exact same thing which only costs $215 in Australia! I just bought an Aquaheat from Australia including shipping I paid $323. Anyone want to buy one I'll get you one from Australia for $380 shipped to your door. I think $50 profit for me is ok 😂
@@IndependenceOverland it is. However it wasn't easy finding a store which ships directly to the USA. 99% of online stores in Australia don't ship internationally and I'm not sure why. Btw the only difference between the Aquaheat and the kakadu is the temp shown in Celsius vs Fahrenheit.
@@veliksami It's because shipping to the US is very expensive, and warranty would be an issue they don;t want to deal with, they don't need to ship outside Australia as these things sell like hot cakes here.

Having that 1-pound gas bottle integrated into the unit just simplifies the setup so much more than other units - smaller too. That’s really great.
Eh... I'm less excited about that bit. I've fully moved away from the little green cans and happy to stay that way. The nice thing is adapting a larger, refillable tank to a 1lb fitting is easy.
I use it with my 5 lbs tank. it is nice to have a warm shower during the Fall season.

Yeah I saw a few other companies are starting to make similar products.
Coleman has one for $250. Camplux has water heaters as well but they're a little different.
@@coreyclarke1604 Looks like the Coleman ones are now 359.99, so they have gotten pretty pricey as well.
Always looking for great shower options for camping and overlanding. Had never heard of this product before. Thanks for sharing!
I’ll be testing one out shortly!

Haha I know, but I have to test them all!
Shower and bathroom is on the top of my list for
Family comfort.
I’m sold. It’s as good as purchased once October hits. 🙌🏼
I’ll be reviewing one soon!
Sick! We can’t wait to test one.
I’ll be reviewing one soon!
Looks well made and a nice quality unit, awesome that it has lithium built in
Yeah that’s the best part, no additional water pump to deal with!

If it works, it works
A totally rad new product.
They definitely nailed it for the size. Sure is a nice product.
Great info. Thanks.
You are welcome!

Nice bit of kit. Double the price is a considerable jump. Worth it at closer to the Australian price.
Yeah people keep saying the price is steep. Joolca is expensive here as well, I’d assume it’s the import costs.

Haha well said! 🙌
One missed question; can it be adapted to larger cylinders?
Anything can be. The hose adapters are cheap and sold even at Wal Mart
@@IndependenceOverland Thanks for the reply.
Wondering if it would accept pressurized water through another tank, bypassing their own pump.
I would think a different flow rate would make the water harder to heat. If you got that dialed in, I dont see why not.

How far will it pump water from if you don’t have water in your vehicle? If you want water from a river or lake you need at least 25 feet of hose..
You just carry it to the water source since it’s battery powered. Or scoop up some water into a bucket
I like the setup and the size but the. $500 price tag is definitely on the high side

It looks very impressive!
Showering is my biggest question mark as I plan my camping road adventure.
