The cabin has great decor. However, we would love a larger bedroom. In the bath, we would do a modern square shower with Plexiglass.

We start bringing in small Christmas additions from December 1. The tree goes up mid December. The 'feel' continues into the New Year and Orthodox dates are included. It will all be ceremoniously removed on January 8. I keep one small metal tree out all year - as a reminder that Christmas good will is not restricted to one time of the year. Best wishes for 2022.

Here in the UK it's the same - 6th January (Epiphany). Tho not really correct to say 'Three' Kings as nowhere in the Bible does it say there were 3 Kings (or Wise Men/Magi) just that they brought Jesus 3 gifts! There may have been many more than 3.

I like the L shape wardrobe. . I like it because it balances the asymmetrical visual mass of the windows and drapes in the opposite corner.
If you want to make the room more symmetrical, Hang the drapery across the entire wall behind the bed (would need to add a short headboard to support your pillows when your bed is out in front of the drapery). Then balance that with full height, wall to wall wardrobe cabinets opposite the drapery wall.
If you have an option for a glass door finish, that would reflect light almost like a mirror. But I also really like the warmth of the vertical wood texture. VERY IMPORTANT: Whatever you choose, remember to attach those accent lights IKEA makes for the tops of wardrobes. That would create dramatic shadows, warmth and light on the wood texture doors.
At the wardrobe base, the more floor you can see UNDER the wardrobe, the bigger the room will feel because a room feels like it ends where you see the floor end. The reverse optical illusion can be true too. If the front of the wardrobe goes all the way down to the floor, the room feels like it ends at the wardrobe-- about 18" narrower. If the wardrobe you like does not have legs, consider adding legs or hanging the wardrobe from the wall using very strong brackets and cleets. Getting furniture off the floor makes cleaning easier.
If you hang your existing mirror opposite the room entrance, it will reflect the image of the wardrobe, suggesting that the room visually continues. This effect is even more dramatic if wardrobe lights are also reflected. And it would give you a nice mirror to check your clothing after you get dressed.
Good luck with your wardrobe project.

In New Orleans, where I live it is tradition to leave the Christmas up and lit up until twelfth night to light the way for the 3 wise men to find the manger. Then twelfth night is the beginning of the Mardi Gras season that ends on Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday.

Stay with the lighter finish on the wardrobe because the room is a smaller room. Dark wood will eventually make the room feel smaller. Also with the dark curtains and brown pops in the room, from the white walls to the dark brown will seem like a gradient from light to dark. 🙂 It will be cosy not matter what you choose! Happy New Year to you all, Fenris and Grim, too! 🎉

On the bedroom wardrobe if you are not opposed to doing it in a darker color like the table in the room, not exactly same but just to add some warmth. Some do not like anything darker in there place so not sure what you think. A wood color dark enough to feel warm but not to dark it bothers you later is the good pick. Maybe you can find a real wardrobe to add the feel of wood furniture. Be safe and hope you all have a happy new year. Fenris is such handsome older man, it is very nice to see he still wants to play and get his heart going every day.

In Feng Shui, mirrors are thought to bounce energy around the bedroom. This may result in restlessness and amplify the worries in your mind as you struggle to fall asleep. Any extra anxiety at night when you're trying to stay calm makes it nearly impossible to get the sleep you need.

I love to undecorate and clean up too! I suggest the lighter wood for your wardrobe area. Two tall units but one on each end with a smaller tv type stand between, and two or three small boxes connecting them across the top. In the blank rectangular area between you could place a mirror. I always prefer symmetry. 😀

Most people who celebrate the secular glittery Christmas only, don't realize that Christmas is actually 12 days long which is where the song came from and ends on epiphany. So Christmas isn't actually over.

Depends on the type of Christianity. I grew up in a very devout denomination in which there is no concept of epiphany. We were taught the magi didn’t show up until a couple of years later. 🤷

    • @SharonCullenArt
      @SharonCullenArt ปีที่แล้ว

@@shamelesshussy yes some also believe it to be 2 months. Spending 2 years in a manger in Bethlehem is a bit hard to fathom though and aside from this tradition, the coming of the wise men is placed so soon after the birth, and before the presentation in the Temple, the more important are these: first, "now when Jesus was born" (Matthew 2:1), implies that the one event speedily followed the other. Second, directly after the presentation, Jesus went with His parents to Nazareth (Luke 2), and that therefore the presentation must have been preceded by their visit. Thirdly, at the coming of the Magi, Herod first heard of the birth of Jesus, but if the presentation at the Temple had previously taken place, he must have heard of it, as it had been made public by Anna (Luke 2:38). The fact remains that in western Christianity it has been celebrated since Middle Ages. It is said that the magi had a ten day journey. But the journey to Nazareth was not said to be 2 years later.

I was thinking that your bed would look better on the opposite wall where your black stand is now and then he's up against the wall you have room for a little nightstand beside the bed and then you have that whole other wall going down into an l-shaped wall to do storage and maybe put a little bench at the end of the bed to put on your shoes, or just leave the chair near the window but that would open up the space so when you walked in you'd have access all around the bed. It's horrible for some, but for me, I throw the tree out in the evening of the 25th. I need my space back as we don't have a big living room. Lol. It feels so clean again. Hello to two of the best dogs on this Earth: Grim and Fenris!!!! Their parents must be amazing to have wonderful children! ❤❤🐶🐶 For furniture colors, my choice would be dark wood to go with the brown. I love brown as it's so warm and calming to me. I know whatever you chose, it will be beautiful. 👍☺

Dear Cecilia - I'm here to affirm for you that you already talked yourself to a decision about which Ikea wardrobe to choose: BJÖRKÖVIKEN in dark brown! :D You know that's your fav style because you just chose it for TV room. You also said several times you love the color brown in your bedroom. And you confirmed you did not like the trendy fishbone style, nor anything in white, and you didn't want to copy the TV room exactly. I say look at what Christoffer would move there (generally how many hanging things vs. how many folded things) and then plan which layout you need from there. You might need two tall cabinets to fit his stuff. Happy New Year!!

I think beige would look the best for the wardrobes! The room seems a bit dark(obviously because you have no sun lol) but I think it would seem even more dark with the darker wardrobe in there. Hope this helps! 💕

Hi there. Maybe the wardrobe should be a dark brown wood so that it go somewhat match the brown curtains and it would make the room feel warmer. Just a thought. Happy new year.

The lighter color for the units would match the one you're keeping in there but I LOVEEEEE the dark better it feels cozier for a bedroom setting 😍

This was so cosy. A great tip for cleaning the glass on a fireplace is to use a wet paper towel, dip it into a bit of fine ash from the fireplace and clean it with that. Repeat a couple of times and then with just water and dry off - works a treat 😊

I think the first version of the wardrobe is lighter for your Bedroom. I personally don't like all dors closed, so I'd like to play with door/no door. For example In the lower ones you can put one drawer in each, then a shelf on top of it (so nothing falls in) and so you have space for a basket or books... -
My uncle has it quite simular to your Idea: Its (from left to rigth)
Above: 3x 60x40x38 then one of these on top of the big 190 wardrobe.
Next row left (under the small 40 dept) a 60x20x64 with a glas shelf
    On the bottom 3x 60x40x64) - if it's fits.
And if you put a "Picturshelf" like Mosslanda in the middle - you always are able to switch your Picures easy.
I hope there are some Ideas - I work at ikea ;)

I usually get excited and decorate early and too much. For years we had our Christmas on Christmas Eve, so the day itself is a day of rest and reflection, also rather a sad day bc its over. The day after, I'm so ready to undecorate. I want to start New Years fresh without unfinished business.

Looking good! I love the color choices, Cecilia. I hope Fenris gets to stay, at least for a little while longer. He and Grim are such sweethearts. Putting all the cords in a basket, neatly sorted, actually looks good. I once wrote an essay about my ideal Afterlife, and one of the most important aspects was NO CORDS! Your home reminds me a lot of my ideal Afterlife, which is a 3-4 room suite in a 10-star hotel with great views, but not the penthouse. Even your color scheme is very similar; my accent color is orange, from the palest Apricot to Peach to the rusty Burnt Sienna. If I had the money, and y’all were willing, I would knit you a throw in those colors for your living room or bedroom, or whatever you want. But that’s just a dream because I don’t have the money - however, that hasn’t stopped me from one of my favorite hobbies: fantasy yarn shopping! All you knitters out there, y’all know the joys of online yarn shopping, I know you do. LOLOL

I recommend the lighter color ward robe units because it will not overwhelm the room. I would keep the dark brown curtains up and add dark brown accents. I think that would keep your bedroom fresh looking. Happy New Year to you all, Cecilia, Christoffer, Grim, and Fenris! Love your videos!!!❤

I'm with you but to a bit of an extreme - we put our Christmas decorations up at the beginning of November as we love to enjoy them so much leading up to Christmas day. We started taking things down on December 26th as starting the new year off clean and fresh is wonderful! We have 7 trees and many decorations throughout the house, so it does take a bit of work 🙂
I adore your home and decor!

I love love love the brown curtains in your bedroom! They fit so well :) I would take the lighter Björköviken front because I think that would go well with darker decorations/curtains etc as well as lighter decor in the summer :) And I think the darker fronts would make the room look smaller since the bed is already taking up a lot of space even though I also like them

I just love your house. It looks so comfy. I'm like you. The day after Christmas, it's done, let's put things away, but my brother, who always complains that it's too early to put them up, keeps them till January. As for that beautiful fur baby of yours, I think you should buy him his very own polar bear. He loves it so much. Cuddles to Grim and much love to all. I hope you read your messages. I'd love to hear from you. I live in Canada, in the Yukon.
