I had the MPC one, and I got rid of it because of what you have just said about the key 37 being right there in front of you, and besides that the key 37 in my opinion has a better interface, as far as the buttons go, and the selection of functions on those buttons, it is definitely worth $200 more than the MPC one. I previously commented that I would not be buying the key 37, but since then I had a closer look at the button layout and functions, I pulled the trigger and I bought the key 37 because it's way better than the MPC one, and it's much easier to move around the house then Mpc x and key 61
That's what's up! Cool you had a change of heart. It's been awhile since I've had the one to really make that comparison as far as button layout workflow. Glad you are enjoying it! 🍻
My understanding is this is the only MPC that has MIDI over USB which allows you to control your DAW on the computer without using a MIDI interface. Plus you do not require 4 or 8 megs of memory since the device has loads of features built in via hardware. Once you connect it to a PC/Mac with a DAW, the 2 gigs of memory also becomes mute. Lastly, I feel this keyboard is too large to be battery powered. Maybe a 25 key version of this being battery powered could work with the mod and pitch bend wheel moved down to the left of the keys like most keyboards.
Yes. Yes and yes. My last video was about the usb midi. And you're right when you plug in the 2 gb don't matter. I don't use a computer and don't have issues anyway. I like the pitch bend where it's at. I think a mini keyboard mpc would be interesting.
Really enjoyed that! New Key 37 owner here who is also brand-new to MPC after being with Maschine since MkI. Learned a few tricks from watching and definitely gonna watch again to pick up on your smooth workflow ... As somebody who's always been more about keys, I can tell you the MPC Key 37 might not be 100 perfect but it is 100 percent unique in all the things it gives at the same time.
Thanks for the comment 🙏 and welcome to the MPC world! There's plenty of MPC videos out there on many channels you can learn from that will apply to the 37. I plan on dedicating some videos to specific topics. If you have any questions, lmk ill do my best to help out. 🍻 thanks for the comment and enjoy the MPC!
I think a "using keygroups for MPC noobs" could be a good topic because for people attracted to the sequencing/synth side of Key 37 (or even 61) like me, this might be their biggest pain point or why they'd even want to do it. Related, I was asking about using Studio Strings and how you can only use all instruments and not freely combine the violin, viola, etc. While you can open multiple instances (although problematic on 2GB systems), somebody replied you could also sample those individual instruments as keygroups and I'm willing to try it. Wondering if it will actually be less resource intensive though ... @@LiftedNoise
@josephkissel6062 I may visit that some time. You can definitely make your own keygroups or auto sample the plugins to make keygroups and determine how many samples per octave will be sampled, in turn determining if it's a large or smaller keygroup. There's quite a few expansions out there as well with pre-made keygroups. Also another option would be to resample a loop of your plugin and free up space.
Peace brother 🙏 thanks for the comment 🍻 I think you'll love it! 2 MPCs is the sweet spot. I started a project on my LIVE at work and finished up on my KEY 37 when I brought it home.
I think you’re right:the price is right. I am currently a Maschine user but looking into MPC because NI seems to have given up on Maschine so this Key37 seems a good entry point. The benefit over the MPC One + is that the attached keyboard makes it easier to build/develop keyboard skills and understanding of scales and chords.
That’s why I sold the plus after the 1.5 update. I knew it was gonna be bad when they dropped the kontrol s mk3… But I waited until the 1.5 update for the plus. They are a dead company. All they’re doing is selling recycled sample packs and gimmicky vsts. They abandoned their flagship product.
I got mine b/c it’s a once and done deal: flip one switch and I immediately have two devices ready to use. No usb connections, no nothing extra to do. Next, who else would I trust to join a time honored tool with a synth. Think about it, would you trust and or buy this same device if it were made by Moog, Korg, or Roland and expect to get the same proven set up in a cost effective and highly portable device as the long line of MPC’s Akai has known to make? In the end this machine is the logical step for Akai to create; it’s alot easier to build an MPC by adding a keyboard than the other way around b/c it’s so pragmatically ubiquitous to the type of Pop music being produced today. Let the keyboard virtuosos or hardcore synthesists have their expensive devices. This one is a game changer.
Really, really appreciate this video, brother. Such a useful and comprehensive overview of what this incredible too can offer. You articulated it in a real way, and got me super hyped on what this thing can do! Mahalo, brother! God is good!
I've watched all the usual creators with the 37. This overview and logical approach, makes a lot of sense to me. Thank you! Getting mine next week. Even your studio lighting made the red look dope, sheeeeet, that red is growing on me lol
They added the chord feature to the Key 61 in the 2.13 firmware. It’s no longer an exclusive. How to get the function is a different shift button but it works the same. I think it’s shift + Latch on the Key 61. I saw a video but didn’t try it myself. I hope you enjoy the Key 37. It’s scratching a lot itches out there. I think the Key 61 is better for a keyboard focused player.
The MPC Key 61 is now $1190 in my country. When I compare the plugins delivered with key 37 and key 61 I will save a lot of money when buying the key 61. I‘m new to Akai MPC so I don’t have any plugins from Akai.
I just paused the video to make this comment. My Key 37 is on it's way. I have watched a LOT of videos. I see people complaining about 2 Gigs only but I have yet to hear anyone complain about performance issues or and lag or latency issues. What is the standard for workstations in 2024.
Hi! I play live on stage, and having a keyboard in the same form factor as the production machine is a deciding factor for me in favor of buying the mpc 37. Such things.
4:35 well you do have the Push 3, Maschine+ which are standalone and you can make full songs on them AND have a computer inside. But those as well have limited ram. The thing is 2GB is more than enough. Ok you have plugins with multi samples that fill it up quickly. But they can always add a Freeze option so you don’t mess with resampling.
Those are definitely the closest competitors and I considered them. I haven't tried the push 3 how are either of those regarding audio tracks? I record vocals in my MPC do I was looking at it as whole complete song with lyrics.. I'm sure it's possible but I'm not so sure it's as convenient though..
@@vinylselektaz6475 I had them all. Except Push 3. I had the 1 & 2. Right now I’m rocking the M+. Trust me it’s not buggy. As a matter of fact I was surprised they added some nice things like when you connect a usb drive. Or you have missing samples. It was buggy at launch. As the MPC and all others.
@@LiftedNoise i didn’t know I could turn off that q link screen, and I didn’t know I could re-assign the jobs if the q links. I guess I didn’t research it enough
@jayonbaby yea definitely useful. The Preset Tabs are good when you familiarize yourself with them, and there is that possibility of doing custom mappings for some things.
Dope video as always. I stacked my MPCLive 2 on a laptop stand and I have a Blacked out MPK249 and I have an 37 FLKeys I use with mines. I can put it also right on my MODX8 because I am a keyboard player. I’ll eventually get the Key61.
Thanks man 🙏 that's alot of dope gear! I wanted a modx for awhile. Never got one! Nothing tops yamaha sounds for me.. I'm keeping my eye out for a used motif rack to sequence with the 37.
@LiftedNoise honestly man this is really appealing to me as itd save space on my desk (currently have a maschine mk3 and an fl key 37) im just afraid of switching over and not liking the work flow as much / not be able to do as much with the VSTs or plug ins and all of that you can use in Maschine 2 vs the MPC DAW
@connormckay9429 it's pretty different. I tried maschine + for a bit and it was frustrating. If your willing to take some time to learn it patiently it may be a good move. I just wasn't patient with maschine so I moved on..
The MPC 1000 was the first MPC I’ve ever owned back around 2005. After purchasing the One, Live 2 and MPC 61 keys I’m about to to go GAS on this 37 keys!
One thing about the Red as someone who owned the One+, you can forget skinning it. Skins dont cover the sideports, some dont cover the sides at all. So whatever skin you get needs to look good with red. And from my deep search on google there's very little available. The retroskins are out. Maybe only those weird anime ones which was a bit too tacky for me, so I kept it red. It did grow on me, but my new Live 2 blacked out fits my desk much nicer (and its wayyy better than the One IMO).
That's a good point! A skin with black sides usually looks good put thr red will stick out. I've seen some people make side skins too but I think reds growing on me so I'll keep it as is!
I have been watching many of these reviews and reading through comments and there has been a lot of comments about the ram being too low but from the many TH-cam videos I have seen reviewing the keys. 37. In my opinion, 2 GB does not seem to affect the workflow. It doesn't lag. It doesn't slow down. It's consistent.
I do believe their is a limitation and you'll see a prompt that indicates you can't use anymore plugins..I don't remember exactly..there is an 8 plugin limit which may be what I'm recalling. I don't create in a way that I ever see reach these limits.
@@LiftedNoise Thanks man. I was wondering if you would consider doing an in depth video or Livestream of mixing a beat and vocals in standalone. That would be super dope to see your process from start to finish! 🍻
@rozzpoe1684 possibly. Thanks for the idea. I've done a few songs so I'm still getting my process down but everyone in awhile I'll do a vocal recording session live.
I understand that. It doesn't bother me. This is my favorite sequencer and sampler built into a keyboard. Plus, the form factor fits my situation. Nothing really compares to this for me right now. I'd pay $1000 from this probably. If it had a battery I'd definitely pay atleast an MPC LIVE 2 price.
@@LiftedNoise I hear ya. I mean it’s the same software though. It’s not like it’s better than the other ones but definitely the key bed makes it more convenient. The price is actually really good. I just think that they could have given the 4GB of ram at least.
@bjamminsincebirth3494 you know why they didn't though. All business. Keep selling the LIVE at its price point. But if they gave it similar specs as the LIVE 2 maybe they could of asked live prices and people would go for it.
No doubt 🍻 I still use my live more than this because of the battery and portability. I usually create more at my job then at home. The mpc 1000 was my 1st MPC and I loved it then but I recently got one and couldn't go back since using the new MPCs. It's just missing basic conveniences that I don't want to go without anymore. Why do you think you'll like this more than the live. It's pretty much the same workflow although a bot more buttons. That maybe what you prefer...🍻
I really want one of these. I literally just got the arturia keystep pro dark edition to go with my live 2 even though I had an mpk mini 37, I figured the arturia has a few sequencers on it so I can easily run my desktop synths as well and eurorack. But honestly I could just use the MPC key 37 to sequence everything. I still might get rid of my mpc one and pick one of these up and just have the MPC live 2 hooked up with my desktop synths and the arturia while using this just as stand alone at my computer desk or something. Idk it really does look awesome, if it was upgraded tech wise I definitely would have bought one day one. It's the only reason I havent yet, I'm trying to go back to Vegas this year so saying no is a must Though it's the hardest thing ever 😅
Good luck with WITH the saying NO. I'm really loving it. I do think trading in the ONE is a reasonable idea. If you already have two PAD centered MPCs why not exchange for the keyboard. Yes you'll have to pay a bit more but I think it's worth it. Thanks for the comment! Maybe you'll get lucky in VEGAS and the keys can be yours just like that! fingers 🤞
Damn, I didn't think I'd be saying this... but I MIGHT be swapping my SP404MK2 for one of these. Having synths onboard and a keyboard sort of trumps everything else for me haha. I'm a keys player and I don't write music using samples. If I sample and chop anything, it's stuff I write and play that I rework through sampling. Having a keyboard with even a fairly functional sequencer, effects AND the ability to export stems/Ableton sets... I mean that really does a lot for me. I mean Push 3 in pretty much every way is what I'd prefer... but KEYS and sequencer on ONE device are that much of a selling point to me haha. Thanks for your insights, man.
Half the price of a PUSH 3 and you get keys. As a key player you'd definitely find this more productive than an SP but if you can keep both 👌 I'm mostly using my 404 right now to make Drum breaks, drop em in the 37 play along on the keys.
Mine came in today Bro! I'm surprised how super light it is! My Key 61 isn't really heavy as well but the Key 37 is featherweight compared to it! Just purchased the SanDisk Extreme PLUS 256gb V30 SD Card. Gotta make sure you have a high end/ quality SD Card for sure. Going cheap on them can run slow as far as loading and saving. Bolo got some bad speeds with the cheap ones but as long as you get an Extreme PLUS V30 SD Card, you're good to go. Another awesome vid Fam.
It is pretty light, I agree. That's not what you hope for when you invest a good piece of change on a piece of gear. I think it's more a subconscious thing really, doesn't mean it's just going to fall to pieces, but I still hope decksaver makes a cover quick!😄 good tip with the SD cards, thanks for the comment🙏🍻
@@LiftedNoise True. I definitely expected top grade material to meet the value of the purchase for sure. Trust me, I'm keeping up with Decksaver. LOL. And you're welcome. Always good to share knowledge, especially experiences, good and bad, with music Fam.
Great review I really like this mpc Key 37. Do you know what’s crazy when I ask do they send out gear for review? Zzounds told me they don’t do that I want to hook up too.
Thank You 🙏 I love this keyboard! I asked the same question a couple of years back and was told the same thing. But asking through customer service isn't likely the right avenue. The opportunity presented itself when they reached out to me, not the other way around.
Thanks for the overview. The stock sounds, the sampler, and the big screen for the sequencer are nice selling points. I paid almost $2000 for my Korg Wavestation alone back in 1990, no sequencer, no sampler, no drum pads. That’s probably $3.5k in today’s money. I can’t think of anything else that delivers the same combination for that price, plus it includes the usual free downloads, etc. As far as what people perceive as “build quality,” most people are talking about weight. It’s easy to make things heavy so people think they are “more solid,” (I see this in cameras, etc), but really, these companies know that they can ship these models for less money if 100 units weigh less. The swap from metal to plastic is both cost saving and weight saving, and isn’t related to quality. I have a heavy old Korg Wavestation and I wish the outer panels were plastic every time I have to carry it…
It's good to know about the weight vs. quality topic. I was kind of thinking that. As far as stock sounds, one thing i wanted to mention that I missed was about the plugins that come with this..I used presets from the fabric xl collection that is not stock, but the MPC KEY 37 come with a free plugin voucher upon registration. Thanksnfornthe comment.
Honestly, that was the only thing in the video I disagreed with. At 9 pounds it has plenty of heft, while plastic feels plenty solid unless you're gonna drop it in the street, and doesn't move around when you're playing it.
Really not built for that while it is portable sized it's not built for that especially at the price point ...just like some saying it should have had a speaker...again it's not built for that situation...as he is saying in the video it's more built to be the mpc 1 plus with keys and all the whistle that comes keys all in one uint verse carrying 2 components and be able to do a full song ... especially when you expand your plugins but for the price point it is hard to beat for what it does .
I love it, but I can’t justify it having the live 2 and a bluetooth midi keyboard… I started with maschine in 2012, got the live 2 in 2020 and spent a month heavily glued to that thing, learning it. It is the greatest piece of gear/most versatile and intuitive piece I’ve ever owned.
2GB of RAM may not have been a big deal when the 1000 came out years ago but it's a big deal today considering Akai fancies itself a software company pushing high end, demanding software plugins
I get that and I agree it should be higher but my point is that there's really nobody with a standalone device that does what the MPC does. Not mashine+ or even PUSH 3 is comparable as far as my needs go but that may just be my needs.
@@LiftedNoise Akai is lucky no one else is pushing the limits. They are like Boeing, no real competitors besides Airbus, which is just the same shit but European and slightly worse. Neither innovating much. MPC like Boeing is stuck on an old design from a decade ago (the software UX), but still releasing it as new with small facelifts. It's a shame because I think there's a real opportunity here for an upstart.
@daniel_dumile exactly. Waiting on NI or Roland possibly would be the best contender if they did an MV 8800 type piece the world might actually be ready for it.
Enjoyed this review ..akai ability to give us something but also not fully give something is amazing 😂..couple more months the black one comes out .. atrack version comes out ..and we repeat 🔁
😆 so what part of it is incomplete to You? Lack of a battery or it not coming with plugins? Ima go out on a limb and say the red will be standard for some time.. it really has grown on me though
Great video. I had no idea about the scale filter /chord function that is a game changer. I’d like to learn myself. ❤❤ keep pushing content fam. 🎉🎉🎉🎉salute.
heh, this actually made me NOT buy this, but great video, nice logical descriptions of what you liked and why, and quick demo of making some nice beats. So although I didn't buy this, it actually pushed me over the top on buying an MPC One. I was looking for a way to buy the brains of an "arranger keyboard" or "keyboard workstation" without the keyboard, in other words so I could use the same brains and sometimes take a tiny 25-key keyboard with me, and sometimes use it with a 37, 61, or 88 key keyboard. I really looked long time at Yamaha, Roland, Korg, but it just felt like, the fewer keys on the keyboard, the more crippled the interface was. You can't buy the high-end brains except with the larger 61 or 88 keys. They may have all had auto-accompaniment or sequencers or arrangers, but none of them seem to really focus on ||workflow|| like Akai does.
Cool, thanks for the informative review, I'm waiting for mine to arrive today !, and this was a great heads up ! As for issues, Terabite 100 gig sd cards are only $100, and is a battery pack possible to plug in ? ,add headphones and rock it anywhere
It really doesn't take much so understandable for those who want to take full advantage of plugins how the ram is an issue. I'll do in a stream with you if you like.
It's NOT a problem. The most awkward thing I forgot to mention is the SHIFT button placement. Would have been better in the middle, but the only real issue for me is using it to make edits to my audio tracks.
True. I do that from time to time. But I much rather know what the notes in the scale are, rather than just hitting white keys - the ultimate cheat code, isn't it
This is awesome. Isn’t stand alone gear limiting? You can do so much more with a laptop and a daw. Why would someone choose this over fl or logic? I’m curious because this thing is sweet.
Exactly what you said is the reason why I do. Because it's limiting. It's still super powerful, but having a laptop with just about limitless options can be debilitating.. and also the distraction free creation process. I feel more connected and zoned in..
@ken2.0 oh nice that sounds fun! Logic was my go to beatmaking software before I made my move back to 100% standalone..🍻 I hope you join the MPC world, it's a lot of fun 😁
FACTS. Glory to YHWH the Master Yahusha 🙏 I've been on a purest form of his NAME journey. Not using words like lord or god because they may stem from the Babylonia deity gad or baal which means lord 🤔
Great video. Hey, regarding the 2GB, is this restricting in any way when it comes to the plugin instruments? Having a big library of them and running multiples of them?
Well, I believe there is a limit of 8 plugins in standalone as is. The main problem would be running the sample based plugins like fabric xl and studio strings. I dont have to worry so much about the synths. I don't use many plugins like that, so I'm not really one to speak on it. Of course, being that you have a sampler, the most common suggestion is to resample a part and switch up your plugin and keep building that way.
Im torn between copping this or a decent 37 key midi and more software. It seems cheap and if history repeats itself they'll release a better version soon to come. Gotta make every dollar count mane. Awesome video once again my brother.
Well, remember, if you are investing in software, usually you can't resell it. Maybe it's possible, but with hardware, if you are looking to upgrade, you can get some of the value back and reinvest in the new piece you want. Also eventually a new computer might be necessary. I like to keep it simple and stay standalone.
🙏 I really only play in 2 keys though..this keyboard will prove a legit learning tool for increasing knowledge of scales and building chords from those scales..
It's definitely worth the money. The only reason why I will not buy it is because I already have the 61 and the X SE and I have the space to use those machines and I don't take my MPC's outside the house..
Really can't answer for You. Especially when you haven't included much of your lifestyle in the comment. If you're mostly at home creating you don't really need the added portability features. But also if your not a keyboard player or desire that much and mostly sample you're probably good with any other MPC like the ONE which is more comparable to this. So answer those questions and you get your best answer.
Yes. Pretty much. It was, for a time a nice portable idea generator for when I was at work but the 404 is a lot faster for that purpose with no need to save samples before use. If all I had was the smpltrek I'd write and record songs with it! The looper tracks are great along with the mic for coming up with hook/chorus song concepts! And then the global tracks for verses. But having an MPC everything else just becomes a scratch pad for quick ideas that get finished in the MPC.
Have you used any of the new MPCs? It's not any more menu diving then the others. In fact it has more buttons then the LIVE 2 so it's more hands on. Also all the basics of putting a beat together are straightforward, accessible from the main screen but it can get deep when you are looking to do more detailed parameter adjusting. But that can be left to do after the creative process which is a great workflow!
Well, first off, this isn't the same kind of workflow as far as selecting sounds..although it is streamlined, you will notice a bit of lag from loading presets compared to the instant recall on the modx. I don't really have any experience with the modx except a few minutes in a music store but I have used motif sounds in my yamaha mx49. In mi opinion yamah sounds are at the top so pretty hard to beat. If you want the acoustic samples with the mpc key 37 you'll have to buy the fabric xl plugin. All the stock plugins are synth type plugins but your purchase does come with a free plugin voucher which you could use for the fabric xl. You could always auto sample some of your favorite modx presets in the mpc. The sequencer and sampler is where the mpc excels while the sounds are good I think the yamaha probably wins out that category.
There's a few things I forgot to mention because my time is limited and get rushed through these videos sometimes. I didn't really consider the studio though.. what about it do you mean?
🤣 did you get bored and comment before I made this point in the first 2 minutes of the video.. it's an equal value purchase..whichever way you decide to go
@@LiftedNoise 🤣🤣🤣🤣 just trying to be a witness for anyone out there thinking/don't go down the gear fomo path lol Great video though bro!! i do watch alot of your being in the mpc world learning from you as well aka watch the entire video people before making a conclusion if you new* lol
Your joking right 😄 that's the point of the video. Cost is equal for both options and it comes down to your preference. I feel more productive composing with this. If your more sample driven the one is probably the better option when keys is an afterthought.
899 is a great price. Nothing on the market like it. I lost my faith in Korg and Roland. So many missed opportunities. ..Great sounds terrible screens ( MV-1) and sequencers.
@@LiftedNoise I already had that option with MPC One, but things got out of hand with the summer heat, so I'll wait for the new MPC in the future. Thanks for the suggestion. 👍
@@LiftedNoise Yes, they were vinyl stickers, the glue was of low quality and the skin was soft, the heat made it look warped and rippled, it looked like I had a MPC with a cold, but well, in the end that turned out to be a bad solution. 😅
The key 37 combo and button layout is much better than the MPC one and is definitely worth the $200 upgrade. People who are thinking about just adding a keyboard to the MPC one have to deal with constantly looking up and down between the keyboard and the MPC one when editing and creating their music. The key 37 buttons and functions of the buttons are more ergonomic and user-friendly than they are on the MPC one. And if you can't afford the key 37, that's OK because the MPC one is superior to any other hardware sequences sampler on the market, except for the key 61 and the MPC X. Akai has no competition when it comes to music production and sampling. The only people who think the MPC's are not the ultimate music production hardware are people who haven't really learned how to use the MPC's, once you know it it's easy to use.
You just sold me an MPC Key 37!! Great overview!! Thanks!! I'm Lifted on the Noise!!!

@@hvhvgitaar It is man, I started my music making journey on maschine in 2012. Have updated komplete since 8, sooo many expansions. It hurts lol
Got mine the other day but haven't had much time to mess with it. Keyboard control is going to be so helpful!!
No doubt! Have fun bro 🍻 for me, nothing matches this experience up to this point with MPCs

Machine is buggy , push 3 is unfinished and well overpriced and workflow not that great for both.

Right now I’m rocking the M+. Trust me it’s not buggy. As a matter of fact I was surprised they added some nice things like when you connect a usb drive. Or you have missing samples. It was buggy at launch. As the MPC and all others.

I wish I like it but no SSD slot, no battery, and 2GB ram is not moving me. The price isn’t bad.
@@LiftedNoise I mean they could have matched the 61 spec for Ram at least
@bjamminsincebirth3494 yea I'll agree with that!
Really helpful video! I may have to trade in my Live for one of these… I personally didn’t like the Live as much as my trusty old 1000
No doubt 🍻 I still use my live more than this because of the battery and portability.
It's the only reason I havent yet, I'm trying to go back to Vegas this year so saying no is a must
Though it's the hardest thing ever 😅
Good luck with WITH the saying NO. I'm really loving it. I do think trading in the ONE is a reasonable idea. If you already have two PAD centered MPCs why not exchange for the keyboard. Yes you'll have to pay a bit more but I think it's worth it. Thanks for the comment! Maybe you'll get lucky in VEGAS and the keys can be yours just like that! fingers 🤞
Damn, I didn't think I'd be saying this... but I MIGHT be swapping my SP404MK2 for one of these. Having synths onboard and a keyboard sort of trumps everything else for
me haha.

@@LiftedNoise That’s cool. I have a few that came with my Akai for MPC Beats, etc. The “Jura” one would be my choice for Key 37… I’d love to get one…

can be solved by power bank
This is going to be to be my main piece in studio
So got to make it work 💯
It’s not a mobile device or a laptop device, so a battery isn’t really that important.
Understandable. It is a great piece. Any MPC reigns, but this one is the best experience for me so far.
@@LiftedNoise For sure. I wish akai was copy te’s op-1 and do a small, portable one. That is my dream.
Waiting on NI or Roland possibly would be the best contender if they did an MV 8800 type piece the world might actually be ready for it.

heh, this actually made me NOT buy this, but great video, nice logical descriptions of what you liked and why, and quick demo of making some nice beats.

@@LiftedNoise yeah I would love to see what it can take
What about ergonomics? Isn't it bothersome to reach the pads and buttons above the keyboard?
It's NOT a problem. The most awkward thing I forgot to mention is the SHIFT button placement. Would have been better in the middle, but the only real issue for me is using it to make edits to my audio tracks.
One trick is to transpose keyboard and play and get different vibe to notes
You also know the saying.. necessity is the mother of invention.. with this, it's kind of like that. Limitation breeds creativity.
@@LiftedNoise thanks for putting that in perspective!!! I’m thinking about pulling the trigger. I’ve actually been using logic on the iPad.

@@LiftedNoise you on point 💯
Great video. Hey, regarding the 2GB, is this restricting in any way when it comes to the plugin instruments? Having a big library of them and running multiples of them?
Well, I believe there is a limit of 8 plugins in standalone as is. The main problem would be running the sample based plugins like fabric xl and studio strings. I dont have to worry so much about the synths. I don't use many plugins like that, so I'm not really one to speak on it. Of course, being that you have a sampler, the most common suggestion is to resample a part and switch up your plugin and keep building that way.
Yo that top down view looks mad official 💪🏾
Thank You 🙏 not bad is it 😎
Im torn between copping this or a decent 37 key midi and more software.
Nice gear. Enjoy 💪✌️

Can you transpoze your own wav samples on keys of the keyboard? Best regards
Yes, definitely. That would be a keygroup. You can do one sample in a keygroup or multiple samples.
It's definitely worth the money. The only reason why I will not buy it is because I already have the 61 and the X SE and I have the space to use those machines and I don't take my MPC's outside the house..
That makes sense! I'm the opposite..usually craeting away from home and o ly have a small corner when I am home.
Is there a black version ?
No, there is not.
wwhat do you recommend - going with live 2 or keys 37?
Really can't answer for You. Especially when you haven't included much of your lifestyle in the comment. If you're mostly at home creating you don't really need the added portability features. But also if your not a keyboard player or desire that much and mostly sample you're probably good with any other MPC like the ONE which is more comparable to this. So answer those questions and you get your best answer.
So Smpltrek has already gone to the shelf for good? :)
Does operating it involve lots of menu diving?
Have you used any of the new MPCs? It's not any more menu diving then the others. In fact it has more buttons then the LIVE 2 so it's more hands on. Also all the basics of putting a beat together are straightforward, accessible from the main screen but it can get deep when you are looking to do more detailed parameter adjusting. But that can be left to do after the creative process which is a great workflow!
Thank you for your help.
Thank you for your help.

You gonna send this one back in two weeks?
Definitely not.
Can someone tell me how akai sounds compare to a Yamaha MODX. I am 61 and getting bored with my yamaha
@@LiftedNoise thank you so much for the input. I love the MODX but I want something a little different, maybe. Thanks again

@MarcellJjr appreciate that bro! Go ahead and witness 🍻 it's good to apply restraint of fomo/gas in any aspect of life foreal. ✌️ 🙏
Match made in heaven?
Just about! I'm also 37 years old. So that's a fun coincidence 😎
@@LiftedNoise lmao :D
Isn’t this just an mpc one with one of their midi controllers attached.. what’s the hype 🤷🏾♂️ 😂
Your joking right 😄 that's the point of the video. Cost is equal for both options and it comes down to your preference. I feel more productive composing with this. If your more sample driven the one is probably the better option when keys is an afterthought.
Im sorry Akai is the Goat
🍻😎
899 is a great price. Nothing on the market like it. I lost my faith in Korg and Roland. So many missed opportunities. ..Great sounds terrible screens ( MV-1) and sequencers.
Right. The MV1 looked interesting but I didn't like the MC-101 screen navigation, the sounds were cool but nah had to pass on that.
Until they change color, I will not buy.
You can find skins now.
@@LiftedNoise I already had that option with MPC One, but things got out of hand with the summer heat, so I'll wait for the new MPC in the future. Thanks for the suggestion. 👍
@inperfectsequence7840 🍻 what does that mean though? Did the skin melt from the heat...
@@LiftedNoise Yes, they were vinyl stickers, the glue was of low quality and the skin was soft, the heat made it look warped and rippled, it looked like I had a MPC with a cold, but well, in the end that turned out to be a bad solution. 😅
@inperfectsequence7840 hmm... where did you get it? Where you making beats outside or leaving it in a garage?
🫡👍🏾🫡
Cheers bro 🍻 thanks for stopping in 🙏
@@LiftedNoise grate job very detailed video 🔥
@@88keyz I appreciate that 🙏
@LiftedNoise that keyboard control is very useful I really like that 🔥
@LiftedNoise looking forward to watching your future videos using the key 31
thankx for the break down...gettn one soon🎹🫡👊🏾🍾🥂
That's what's up! Your going to love it! 🍻
