One feature that the Key 37 has, that most people aren't talking about is the ability to control/transmit midi over usb, while in standalone mode. It's old tech, but the modern line of MPCs haven't been able to do this until the release of the MPC Key 37. That means you can simply connect to and control your DAW with a usb cable only. No need for a midi interface or usb to midi cable.
@SumnSumnSumnHTK Yeah, a lot of people have been waiting on thay feature, but the Key 37 is the only one that's able currently. I have the 61, X, Live ii, and I bought a One+ for my 12 yr old son and even after updating to 2.13, they still can't do it.
Salute! That's an underrated Machine! It's open architecture! You can sample from all your other instruments and save the sounds and play them in scaler mode! Learned this from Malo Beats. Salute!
I saw that same video. I'd never seen Malo's content before but I immediately subscribed then started binge watching his stuff. He's a good one for the community.
Thank you for the info brother... I think people need to understand that this is an entry level key board to the line... I don't know for sure but I believe a 49 key version is on the horizon with the torch strip on it and an upgraded 61 key as well... probably all In the color of red (Akai) which seems to be their color scheme now... anyway I'm just guessing and trying to feel them out 😁. God bless you brother and Salute to you ✌🏽
I don't know if I'm just brainwashed by the amount of people doing positive reviews on this thing, but this is the most (and only) appealing MPC to me. And this review brainwashed me further hahaaa. Nobody else spent nearly enough time on the sounds themselves, so thank you for running through some of the sounds! I'm interested specifically because of the onboard synths and the ability to sequence those as basic song starting ideas in standalone mode. The MPC One really didn't work out for me, but having a keyboard and MPC all in one actually solves the problems I had with the MPC One, which rendered it impractical in both studio and standalone scenarios. What's my point? That 37 keys, onboard instruments, and sequencing abilities is a pretty useful package that applies to musicians who make music in a way differently than the usual MPC user. I'm still torn between this and Push 3. But this review was really well thought out and helpful. Thanks man. Definitely subscribing.
I appreciate this response. I just tried to give the review I'd want to see on the device. Sounds are very important when talking about a mpc with keys imo.
That GAS is really when you have a X and a 61 key. I feel it tho. Laying on the couch and making beats is Hella underrated. This allows me to do just that. 🤣🤣🤣
Great job starting out by giving insight as to who it’s for & why it’s for you in particular! Logical reasoning is always helpful compared to a lot of emotions that been going around in regards to this device. Very thorough & thoughtful giving use-cases too‼️💯
I just bought the MPC One Plus this past weekend. I almost copped this but the One Plus fit my budget and it fits perfectly into my setup. I also got Jura with my free voucher. Both amazing products. Great video. I appreciate your perspective. Every MPC isn't for everyone. I don't understand why other uses don't understand that. My One is replacing my old MPC Touch which my new Mac won't see.
The modern MPC was a work station so it was inevitable that Akai would put keyboards on a MPC eventually, Im surprised they didn't do it sooner. For a work station keyboard the MPC key 37 is pretty cool, I probably won't get one.
Great review! My issue with Akai, is pretty much the same with Arturia. They both are not big enough to put out new stuff, inline. This should have came out with the other MPCs. Since they didn't they cut down the storage on this, to mesh up with the other MPCs... that's kinda sad, imo. Arturia put out a new cheaper one with a better screen - I wonder when they are going to put out the premium one. When NI rolls out something, at least they roll it out across the sizes - but then they leave the Maschine hanging. I am watching to see what Novation does next with their SL line. Looks like a good board though, not knocking it, by itself.
@@SumnSumnSumnHTK I'm pumped. Should have done this 20 years ago. I picked up an mpk mini mk3 and downloaded mpc beats just to kinda get a feel for the workflow... But I'm kinda realizing I hate being at the computer. I'm excited to work on the mpc. I feel like I've watched every mpc video on TH-cam over the last two weeks.
It's a standalone device so you don't need a computer to use it but you can use it with mpc studio on a computer. You can also use mpc studio inside another daw like fl studio. There's a bunch of different ways to use it.

Right but thats pretty standard now among gear these days, that's probably why nobody mentioned it.
I didn't even realize the other mpcs couldn't do that. Did they fix that for all the other mpcs in a firmware update?

I’m with you. I prefer just keys. I play my drums on the keys too.

Ayyyyeeee!!! Thanks again my G!

I figured everyone can do a walk through but I tried to focus on why it works for me, who it's good for and the sounds that you get in it.

Thanks for the great informative video! Salute 🫡
Back to into hitting the keys!
Finally I'm MPC Gang!!

I love my keys, I gotta upgrade my One+. Hopefully in a couple months
Any MPC is solid fam. You can make some absolute bangers in a MPC One
@@SumnSumnSumnHTK I definitely can fam. The keys 37 eliminates the need for me to bring an extra midi keyboard

Great review! Is that the Cleveland Browns hat?
Thanks for that. It's a Chicago bulls hat. The Bulls logo is in the B on the hat.
Multiple People Complaining or Music Production Center 🤷🏼♂️
Nice first take. Have fun!
i want this...
If nobody answered you about "going back", the UNDO button
I appreciate that response!! You figure I would've tried that 😆
Ho bro, can you make video about integration Akai MPC Key 37 with PC end FL studio plz!!!!!!!!,
I love the Bulls too! Are you from Chicago?
Nah but I was born in Illinois.
Can i write saved project in mpc to the mcp studio pc?
If you don't like the color, get over it. Akai literally means "red" in Japanese. Lol
I just ordered mine, should be here on Thursday. 😁
I'm happy for you. I bet you can't wait for that thang to arrive.

I'm glad to be part of the squad now!!
Good to see you join the modern MPC family. I think you are going to enjoy it, now Hit The Keys 🎹! 🫡

I do have a question do you need to have a PC to use it or can you use the mpc it's self without a daw
