    Just some quick tips for de-soldering.... I also used to struggle with de-soldering but after many years and damaged boards you learn.... So no disrespect meant.
    Clean tip (which he did) add solder to tip, put new solder down on all points you are wishing to de-solder ( just a small fresh dot of solder on slots 1 thru 5). Clean tip again. Put flux on ports 1-5. Clean tip and add solder to tip. Then use the solder wick.
    The addition of the fresh solder and flux to the ports along with a clean tip with fresh solder will allow the heat from the iron to transfer quickly to the solder in the ports flowing it almost instantly. Once solder is flowing the wick and LIGHT PRESSURE (he slipped off the wick at one point from pushing to hard and scraped the tip along the board, luckily no components were hit or any traces damaged) will clear the ports of solder quickly.
    The less time the iron is on the board the less chance you have of causing any damage to it.

      I had exactly the same problem. After adding fresh solder, I had no problem removing and getting a clean four holes to install the CN2 header.

    this is super useful! I'll have to do an OBD1 conversion on my crx sooner or later if I want to do any tuning. this is helpful.

    hey man, i measure 5v at pin2 and pin3 of my P08, when it should only be pin3. How do i even begin diagnosing this?

    • @DIYKAI
      @DIYKAI  ปีที่แล้ว

      It needs to be bench tested

    What does the flux do and how did you confirm it was a success after the fact, visual inspection ?

    • @DIYKAI
      @DIYKAI  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Flux allows solder to flow easily and makes the joint clean., Bench test, then vehicle test. Thanks for watching and please subscribe!

    I have the same part you installed but my moats 4 pin cable doesn’t plug in with it. Is their a 4 pin wire that u use differently from moats to do data log.
