    Power boaters get on their boat to get where they want to be. A sailor is where he wants to be when he gets on his boat.

    The still boat is the winner for me. Part of the joy is the whole experience of getting to your destination in a relaxed fashion.

    Great comparison. My family had mostly sailboats, and one trawler. I loved all of them, but I am a sailor girl at heart. I love my sailboat (an old but sturdy Endeavor 32). Sails up, engine off, drinks served. That's my regular sailing day. I need the peace and tranquility of waves and wind.

    all kinds of boats for all kinds of people
    Too Cool you can have both.
    I've a 16 foot canoe that will get solar-battery-trolling motor cause Paddling Sucks!
    'a 21' reworked sailboat - 1600 watts of solar - 200 amp hours of lithium & a pair of trolling motors = 3.5 mph
    'a 28' houseboat - 70 hp - 12 mph max but I like 4 or 5
    it's claim to fame is it fits on a trailer and is at the house
    'great channel & attitude - I've subbed
    'editing dept gets an 'A'

    Very accurate comparison. All the small details are presented here. I was going to make a suggestion, but it looks like something is in the works! Cant wait to see what's next!

    You guys must have nice jobs to be able to afford all these toys!!! Good for you!! Life is short and you should live it to the fullest!!!

      Thanks. We did have one new boat, but most of our toys are older and cheap! That's the great thing about knowing how to upkeep and repair things. And the depreciation is far less on the older things, too. It helps making youtube videos too.

      @@AdventuresInParadise my day is coming soon. Retired now and ready to begin!! Been sailing all my life here on the Gulf Coast. Actually have sailed all 3 coast. Went to powerboating for a while but just didn't enjoy it as much as I do sailing. Love your videos. Thanks for making them and posting them. I do post some videos of my adventures and know how much time and effort it takes! You guys are FANTASTIC!!

    I’ve noticed that you don’t put up your main sail very often. You would pick up a lot more boat speed and shave off some travel time. But I’m in agreement with some of the other comments in that sailing itself is the reason to own the boat. Weekday beer can sailing races are also a blast to take part in. You’ll never have such an adrenaline rush going slow.

      We were sailing a broad reach both directions so the main sale would’ve just blocked the Genoa. The other weekend, we were hitting between four and five knots on the Genoa alone and weren’t in any rush because we were only out sailing, not going anywhere. This boat has a big Genoa in a small main sale so unless I need to really get somewhere or have more powerful wind that needs to balance the boat…

    • @CnCEndeavors
      @CnCEndeavors 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No not true a broad reach is the fastest point of sail and if done correctly will fill both sails. If downwind though you might block the Genoa, but could use a pole and wing on wing downwind which would help speed.

    What are your thoughts about using each of the boats with kids onboard? Do they highlight other pros and cons?

    Im 58. I could never in all my life understand day tripper people. It makes no sense to me. They spend 1/2 the day getting rdy. I am not a fan of "day trips". I look forward to your week weeks month months trips ! Gonna be fun !

    • @AdventuresInParadise
      @AdventuresInParadise  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not a fan of it either.. but if you're not old or rich enough to retire, it's all you get! It's what many people who buy larger sailboats but are still working people get wrong... they would enjoy sailing more in a small boat just to sail... not to cook or sleep or do maintenance all the time. I might be one of those people.

    Sail boat! Cuz in a powerboat you have to pay for fuel!! At least it's less than paying for fuel in a sail boat! Or maybe a cross breed like a McGregor 26x! What makes your motion sickness different than a powerboat than a sailboat? I know they say about heels and a good distance and it cuts down on the wakeness but still. Also I'm so confused what makes it so much easier to bring some chairs and an umbrella on a beach versus a powerboat versus a sailboat? Because with a sailboat I could totally still have an umbrella and beach chairs. I guess it's about day trip vs a live aboard

    • @AdventuresInParadise
      @AdventuresInParadise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the sailboat more too! For us, we’d have to get out the inflatable and by the time we got on shore it’d be time to return. We could only spend 1:45 on the island since it took so long to travel, which we enjoyed and I’d rather be on the sailboat sailing than sitting on the beach anyway.

    “That’s where we ended up” hmm. Are you getting another boat? Looking forward to the next video to see what’s up. Really enjoy your videos. We started with a Cat 22 about the same time you started your channel. Since then we moved on to a bigger sailboat also.

      Sometimes I with I started with that boat as it is both boats... you get tons of room, you can trailer it, and who cares if it's not the prettiest or best sailing... it's shampoo and conditioner all in one.

    Trawler? You hinted at it a few vids ago... Can't wait :) This was a great vid, wonder what the comparison would be for fresh water smaller than the Great Lakes...

    • @AdventuresInParadise
      @AdventuresInParadise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks... yea, this comparison has a lot of wiggle-room since there are so many boat types and people boat in so many ways.

    • @mansgottaeat8879

      even on a trawler if they still wanted to harness the elements for propulsion they could get a electric outboard and figure a way to attach enough solar panels on the trawler to power it and use that intermittently with motor drive

    • @AdventuresInParadise
      @AdventuresInParadise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mansgottaeat8879 somebody should make a motor that clamps to the prop shaft so the battery can either be used by itself, or to help the engine use less fuel and then recharge on solar... maybe in the future. I've seen some of the electric sailboat conversions but those batteries are very costly.
