This is an excellent video! It's very informative and thorough and we'll be sure to send future YZ customers on over for installation tips. A couple things to add: The airboot/shock spring contact is very minimal and only occurs at full extension as mentioned. The contact will only shine the rubber up a little bit - it won't wear through or cause any trouble. Removing the reed spacer is an option, though we recommend trying to keep it on if possible. If you're running a larger diameter aftermarket shock spring, spacer removal may be necessary. The contact in this case could probably be eliminated by removing the two rubber nibs on the intake flange that clock the stock carb vertical. Having them on there with the SmartCarb can and does ever so slightly tilt the carb back. Removing the nibs will allow it to tilt a little bit more forward or toward the engine which can help eliminate both the boot/spring contact and also help with the cable routing next to the frame.
@@SourceADV You will love the Sc2, I have a 36mm on my 125x and it's pretty much like putting EFI on the bike . So friggin awesome!! Check out the smartcarb FB page too, SmartCarb Equipped.
Awesome vid! Very informative. I’m picking up a 2021 YZ250X this week and will be riding between 4500-10,000ft in New Mexico so this is very helpful in case I can’t get the stock carb to jet properly at my altitude ranges. Thanks!
SourceADV I’m down in Las Cruces and will be riding down in the desert at 4500ft and up in Lincoln and Gila NF up to 9000-10,000ft. Looking forward to hitting northern NM and southern CO. Thanks for the info on the smart carb!
Good video man. That was a tight fit on the hammer. Seemed to have plenty of room on the KTM/Husky bikes we have. SC2 are so smooth. Made a huge difference on our bikes that kame with Mikuni's.
Killer video!! Awesome explanation of things, clear picture and sound- this channel is gonna do good! Look forward to the update on this carb. I want one for the 19’ YZ250x I own :)
@@SourceADV could you share your settings on the carb? I got the same bike and stay in Boulder Colorado. Having a issue with the bike stalling and not kicking over. Just seeing what direction I need to go. Tylerpreston95@gmail.com is my email of you want to reach me there 🙏
Depends on how you have float level set and how far over the bike is leaning on the kickstand. With the These style of carbs the overflow can go into the engine through the jet... but you have to really really have it leaned over
Hi! Greetings from Chile! I installed SC2 in my 2016 250x, but I don't get good results: it uses a lot of fuel/mixture. I also smoke a lot. I have talked a lot with the Smartcarb guys through mail, but I have not achieved anything. Which may be? Regards
I don't thing the fuel line will make the bend into the smart carb. It comes straight out and up from the side of the carb, so having more line to make that bend as gradual as possible was my thought. I played around with a few 90 degree elbows off the carb too and it made it so the fuel line would rub on my boot, which was a hard no.

David Smirnov heck yeah! I’ve got over 20 hours of single track riding on it now, love it! Take care out there! Enjoy the ride!
Are you running the stock spring in this video?
Stock throttle slide spring?
Apex head kit drastically cleans up high altitude jetting...SX dome runs great...
Bike feels great with the smart carb, no other changes needed
Amazing video just got off the phone with technology elevated and they told me to watch your video
Awesome! Glad to hear those guys like the video, they are super helpful. Let us know if you have any questions!

Awesome! It would be great for that. What part of New Mexico? I go down to Taos and Santa Fe a bunch, love your state!

@@JohnSmith-dj5gf Awesome! Good Deal! Is Red River the only area that has dirtbike single track around Taos? I can't seem to find anything else?
SourceADV Good question, haven’t ridden Taos yet. Lincoln has the 30mi long rim trail which is good single track. Looking forward to exploring more.
@@JohnSmith-dj5gf Cool, I'll check that out. Take care!

How many clicks is your carb set to?
Sorry I don’t remember, I don’t have this bike anymore
Did you ever end up taking the reed spacer off for more clearance?
I did, didn’t change how the bike ran and added a little space

Do you need a battery to run this carb? I see wire from the carb.. Yz250x doesn't have a battery by default
Nope! It’s just the throttle position sensor that adjusts the ignition mapping, which the stock carb has too. Hope that helps!
If it's sealed, it seems pointless to turn your gas off..

Can you send me A direct link to where you buy that carb

Looking at getting a smartcarb just a quick question. I’ve got a 2018 YZ250 non X version do I need to order it with the standard TPS sensor?
Not sure man, talk to the smart carb guys, they are really helpful

They come very rich from the SC guys to protect your bike. Try leaning out the bike with the clicker.
Why not just flip the petcock around?
