    The SmartCarb is a precision air and fuel metering instrument designed to push the limits of mechanical fuel atomization.
    Ultra-fine fuel atomization occurs via proprietary venturi features that concentrate and accelerate airflow past a precision ground metering rod. High velocity airflow focused directly at the metering rod picks up fuel droplets that are smaller and more uniformly distributed in the mixture than those produced by modern EFI and conventional mechanical fuel systems. Superior fuel atomization provides for a more complete combustion burn, resulting in increased power (10% More HP) using less fuel (30% Improved fuel economy)

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'm ranting to all of youtube not picking on Mak here, all of the SC2 reviews are "seat of the pants" reviews. The rant is that there are so many motorcycle dynos out there and no one has done at least a busch league dyno test comparison the SC2 vs Keihin for example, where they even use an oxygen sensor to tune the carbs. Also with a load bearing dyno, for example maintain a steady 15 ft-lbs of torque, one could do a fuel consumption test running a fuel line from a bottle to the carb and then measure time and the amount of fuel used from the bottle.
    From there you can calculate BSFC (brake specific fuel consumption) which would normalize results between the carbs. BSFC is the main indicator of efficiency and what OEM powertrain engineers use daily for mechanical and calibration optimization of combustion engines.

      You just hang tight there we have some stuff coming. And I like your style you want all the nerd data like I do and we have something in the way. Thing is dynos are expensive dyno time is very expensive too and getting in the schedule to get that time if you don’t have one is tough and their just aren’t many out there. To get a machine made up to do these tests like that and installed and concrete and then permits your looking at a starting investment of around $20k and then that only test’s specifically for one density altitude, temp, humidity and all that jazz so do you even get real world tuning and real world specs off it in varying altitudes where this crab does best over lectron and standards carbs. That’d be a great mikuni carb test since they don’t meter for any density altitude and produce the most power given one setup for specific elements. But I do get where your going with that and why it’s been about 2 years of getting stuff together and proper dirt bike testing gear has to be made to work because well we’re not gonna hook an old sun machine up to do full spectrum results you’d need a pickup following you around. I built deag cars before and when you dyno them it’s just to get cool guy numbers and base tune when you get to the track it’s test pass after test pass to get the tune right. I wish it was more like engine master but that’s something we really want to get more into for dirt bikes. So I absolutely love your ideas and greatly appreciate the support 🤘🤘 and we excited to announce some stuff soon it’s just been a journey but I think your really gonna love it. Because I am lol 😂

    I agree with what you said about electron I bought a carburetor off of them guys about 4 years ago never could get it right and I've been tuning carburetors my whole life I'm 63 and both Kevin and Dave basically told me unfortunately there's nothing we can do but they didn't have no problem taking my money.

      Yeah their customer service is absolutely trash. They kept telling me to sell it to someone else well I eventually took it apart and it wasn’t even finished with mill work and I had to drill the holes out and also adjust float height and then I made some of my own mods and installed it on a rm250 and that lectron is still being used today and still hasn’t been adjusted or anything since I set it up. So they are morons and when I told them they said well there you go. I’m like no not there you go I bought something that was supposed to bolt and go but had to do a few hours of work to even make it run and finish something that I bought that was supposed to be finished when I purchased it. Absolute D bags in my honest opinion.

      tuning carbs all your life, but how many emulsion tubes have you redrilled or filled?
      or... how many wolselys from 1904 with an "air compensation valve" have you tuned?
      these are not carbs in the traditional sense. if you know emulsion tubes inside out, or air compensation valves, they make sense.
      the bowl is sealed and vents to the venturi... thats... important. critical.
      i got no comments on the company, no affiliation. not about to fork out, especially with the exchange rates.

    Which SC2 did you install, the 38 or the 36mm?
    I noticed an immediate difference (better bottom end, throttle response) with 36mm Keihin on my '20' Sherco 250...vs. any 38mm on my KTM 250 and 150 (tried Lectron, Keihin and Mikuni). Back in March, bought the 36mm SC2 to test and swap amongst the Sherco and the 2 KTMs (both '17' xcw's 250/150).
    Unfortunately, it arrived the same week after a bad race/hand injury (had to recoop from that) and it's been nonstop raining in TX....looking forward to my opportunity to deep dive into it.

      Sorry I should’ve mentioned that in the video it’s a 36. I had a 36 keihin carb on it before. Was okay but jetted it to oblivion. I swapped out numerous needles and so many different setting couldn’t get anymore power from the bike. Now that it’s dialed it’s a lot more powerful. Very impressed.

      @@maksikkarenduro9218 thanks for the heads up....honestly, any 36mm would seem better for throttle/bottom end vs. a 38mm (after my first 36mm keihin experience on the sherco). After much research, seems people didn't complain much at all about the 36mm for 12 years prior to 2017 with the orange bikes, then from '17' on all hell breaks loose. I'm just hoping the 36 SC2 will end up being easier for better/cleaner tuning and better bottom end. My first experience with 2 strokes began in '17' on KTMs...so, I basically started out with "unknown BS" and a lot of frustration. For more open styled desert racing, the 38mm seems more appropriate, however, for "woods" and more difficult enduro riding, the 38 is a big fat "NO" especially for 250/150...don't know about the 300.

      @@maksikkarenduro9218 yeh, just took the 38mm Lectrons off my xcw250 and 150 (waiting to try the SC2), my local track is closed owing to water/flooding (air boots already cut on both, the Sherco is next).....the Lectron 38 always felt anemic (minimal grunt) at throttle input (compared to 36mm Keihin on Sherco) but the Lectron ripped really good from about 1/3 throttle on up in the open stuff (just not good for the woods)......same on the 150xcw and a 38mm (actually worse in the woods, with horrible bogs) but it's probably decent on the MX track for full-on. Friend has both Lectron 36 and a 38 on two different orange 300's....he said the 36 Lectron bike is an absolute bottom end animal and screams but the 300 with the 38 is basically blahhhhhh, but still not bad.

      The best settings I found with the keihin carbs for responsive throttle down low are with Suzuki needles necj and nedj on both the KTM 300 and the Sherco 300 the KTM is more responsive to the necj and necw but the nedj feels pretty good too the Sherco really liked the nedj the most but the necw and nedw felt more too end happy. The sc2 on the Sherco made everything better everywhere. Hard enduro outfitters just sent me the fmf factory fatty I’m gonna try that out as well. But it’s pretty solid now and couldn’t be happier. Added quite a bit of power everywhere and now the bike is a whole New animal. I think your gonna be pretty happy with it just get an hour of ride time in it before making your first adjustments.

      I tune ecus for KTM, husky gasgas engines. But need your bike and ecu because I don’t do a straight across the board basic tune I tune each an every bike as an individual. You can’t get the most out of your bike with a basic canned tune. It’s okay but you need to calibrate the electronics too like tps sensor. Putting a canned tune in your bike is like putting a store bought car tuner it’s okay adds a little lower but it’s not specific to your bike. My tuning is like sending a high performance race car to a customer tuner to remap the ecu. Building an tuning race cars is what I’ve been doing for a long time. Now I’ve brought that knowledge and experience to dirt bikes.

    • @maksikkarenduro9218
      @maksikkarenduro9218  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it’s a noticeable difference the sherco tank is already larger so you automatically get more miles than say the TPI bikes. But I was getting about 72-75 miles before and with the smartcarb I’ve done 68 and still had almost a half tank. Also depends on the type of riding I normally stick to hard enduro and trials type rides that require alot of pushing and bikes in its side before I was getting around 25 miles but I get about 2 days of extreme riding now so about 50-60 because nothing getting spilled out of the float bowl. A well tuned carb like a 38 pilot 168 main with 60:1 motul with the necw needle makes the sherco run really well but the smartcarb runs like a well tuned carb all the time.

The reviews that I have seen on it all made mention of both revised control placement (choke & metering adjuster) and a vast improvement of the carburator's power jet system. But then again everyone whom reviewed it was given the carb from Lectron / Technology Elevated, thus they didn't actually have any skin in the game. Anyway, I truly appreciate your reviews and comparisons as an actual consumer.

    • @SmartCarbFuelSystems
      @SmartCarbFuelSystems 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It's more nuanced than that. Yes the Lectron (first released in 1974 by the way) design was credited to inventor William "Red" Edmonston who, after GM acquired Lectron in '78, went on to develop the Ei Blue Magnum, the QwikSilvers, and ultimately the early SmartCarb before his passing. We had the fortune to work with him prior to that and have continued its development since, including securing our own patented feature improvements on the concept. That said, nearly 40 years of development separate the two products origins. See our article about their shared history and how they compare on our website.
