    The Best GY6 Review I have ever heard...
    And I could not agree with you more.
    You cannot beat a GY6 ever FOR THE MONEY..! 💵
    And I would say even in Performance & Upgrades you will not find anything that comes close..!

    Good video. I bought a 175cc Chinese scooter just recently. I bought it with the intention of working my way up to a 600cc plus bike. I use it as a daily commuter to and from work and I love it. I live in the Dominican Republic and gasoline is expensive. I fill up the tank with a lil over $7 U.S. and as long as I stay under 5500rpm I get over 150 miles out of it. And she is still not broken in yet.

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Yeah, I did the same thing. My original idea was to get a 2005-2008 Honda CBR600 but fell short in collecting enough money to be able to afford it. In the U.S. we have no restrictions on what we can buy as our 1st bike. Loving the scooter so much, that when I do get my super sport, I will still be keeping my scooter.

    I owned a 150cc PGO T-Rex. I now own a 1690cc (103ci) Harley Street Bob. Loved my T-Rex and Love my Harley. I really liked the 9th part where you talked about exploration and 10th the Fun you've had. Harley or scooter it's the same. If you don't ride you should. I use to rent out my T-rex to guys I worked with to take their road test here in Rochester NY. Looking to get another one now for the wife and that's why I watched your video. BTW I got up to 70mph on mine but 60 was the most I would usually do. Not sure what the GY6 gets.

      @kachiskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching. Most def. get your wife a scooter, that way you can ride it once in a while. I was thinking on buying another one to rent out as you did. No way anyone is riding Hope. Hitting 60, after starting at 50. We are building her for speed. Currently working on jetting a 30mm carb. to work with the 171cc engine, pod filter, and high flow exhaust. GY6 is "that engine" in the scooter world. I just have to many projects going, and the weather isn't helping any. We get snow tomorrow.

I didn't't know what I'm going to do when I'm done with her. So I had to adopt another scooter to tinker with. LOL AND I'll tell you what buddy, Hope is looking and sounding great. Take good care of it.Those are very good scooters and they're cute.Make sure you change the oil as soon as it starts getting dark,which is pretty recommendable at the first 1000 miles..From there on start using semi synthetic oil and at 2000miles start using full synthetic.Don't believe in the myths of breaking it in slowly.Drive it as you would normally drive it and give it a break as often as possible to let it cool down.Heat is the powerful enemy at break it.It is not about busting it.It's about gradual acceleration to put pressure on the cylinder walls and seat the compression rings properly.I always do my first oil change within the first 50 miles or less to avoid damage to the bearings from the metal dust from initial break in

    You made some great points. I am originally from Missouri and as you mentioned, you could take your motorcycle qualification test on a licensed, street legal scooter. I now live in Florida and just found out you can NOT take the test on a scooter. It has to be a motorcycle that has gears to shift so you can demonstrate you can operate shifting. I don't have a motorcycle to take the test and don't know anyone I can borrow one from. Good thing is that here in Florida you can ride a licensed scooter with only a drivers license. 👍

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Whoa, come on Florida. To tell you the truth it makes sense. You shouldn't be licensed for something you have never ridden or tested on. So just to confirm, you can ride a 150cc with just a drivers license now in Florida?

    • @havevanmusttravel1441
      @havevanmusttravel1441 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kachiskid - Yes, you can ride a street legal, licensed 49cc or a 150cc scooter with just a drivers license here in Florida. In Missouri you didn't have to license a 49cc scooter and could ride on the street with just a drivers license. If it were more than a 49cc scooter it had to be licensed and you had to be motorcycle qualified to ride on the street. And you could take the motorcycle test on either if licensed. Sounds like the same where you live.

    I have a 150cc chinese scooter and it runs great, people that cut them down are usually people that use them for what they are not intended for, (trail riding, stunts, jumping curbs ) they break them and say they are junk, also sales people and dealerships will tell you that because every time someone buys a chinese scooter off the internet they lose money and can't (rip you off), don't believe it , they are good scooters if you take care of them, they said the same thing about Japanese motorcycles when they came to this country and now everyone wants one.

      Agreed, beside that, people do not take care of them, they do not change oil, belts, breaks, valves adjustment, they think its a plug and play, that has not maintenance, instead they are just motorcycles with an automatic transmission, therefore they require all the maintenance that a motorcycle does.

    Great video, totally agree with you on all points, I've had my Kimco super 8 150 for over 10 years now and still lovin' it, gets me around through the small city I live in perfectly. Love cruising so much I got a deal on a 2009 Extreme 150 one owner with only 250 miles last year for my wife but she doesn't want to ride so I get to rotate them on my rides or get my friends and family with licenses with no scooters to ride with me and the way gas prices have gone up recently I'm seeing more and more scooters around, and that drives the prices up crazy on these things even used, but I love them to much to sell. Thanks for sharing one last point is a big one these guys are so quiet and people friendly I can ride anywhere and not offend anyone other than the guys on Harley's that are jealous they can't ride the places I ride over and over without pissing people off and I get 2 times better gas mileage than they do.

It is reliable as a scooter can be and seems to be made with much better, heavier parts than any chinese bike I've compared it to. Just remember to change to new oil before you start it and ALWAYS USE premium, which doesn't have ethanol , and you'll have $4000 more in your pocket than buying Honda, Vespas, etc.....

  • @47f0
    @47f0 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To be fair, only one or two of your points apply specifically to the GY6, I.E. the purchase price, and the customization.
    Pretty much all of the other arguments could apply to anything from a Ruckus to a Vino.
    And yes, you can get cheap GY6 parts, but there are so many clones of clones of clones of Chinese parts, often made with hand-me-down dies and tooling, that the spare parts market is a bit of a gamble.

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good you are a fair person, I meet so many who aren't...lol. Very good points, but the Ruckus and the Vino don't have the negative rep. of a Chinese scoot. This bike is a builders dream for someone to take it apart, and build their own bike. Just letting people know that you don't need $3000 (50cc Ruckus) and above to start your scooting life. Clones of clones is okay, in the hopes one day they will get it right...lol. Some people need Girbaud's, but a lot of others just need jeans. Just an opinion piece, people need to make themselves happy with their purchase, as I did.

    Scooters are fun and simple but the initial price has to be low for it to make sense. Once you pass 3-4K$$ you need to start lookin at a used motorcycle. I think I would need atleast a 150cc most def if throw the wife on the back. My only concern is long term durability and sourcing parts for these Chinese scooters. I was lookin at a Honda PCX150 but even those are built in China.

      @kachiskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, my thoughts exactly on the money for the engine your getting has to make sense. Even though PCX is built in China standards are elevated because it is Honda. How about a Taiwanese scooter?

      @@kachiskid I know KYMCO is Tawainese plus they partnered with BMW and Honda at one time. They also have a dealership network here in the states so their scooters are slighty more expensive. I like the tachometer on the Taotao IDK how accurate it is tho

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine is surprisingly accurate but I have hear others, not so lucky. Dang, just checked they are getting $3,600 for the PCX brand new. Whoa the 2020 does look nice though. Back to original thought though, $3,500 gets your a nice motorcycle. There is no way, for my money.

    Get a popular model dont get any of the limited additions. Nothing against scooters but if you want to do your own work on them dont get a limited addition.

      Why? My goal was to build a bike I wanted. Also, pay top dollar for something your gonna take apart? If you want to be popular...don't ride scooters.lol

      @@kachiskid Believe me. Im trying to get all of the use I can out of mine. I already had to make a few modifications to it. I only paid 1024 dollars back in 2008. I was having a hard time trying to find a rear wheel bracket for the muffler mounts. It saved me a great deal of money on gas as well.

      @@kachiskid I have a roketa scooter limited edition so yeah I have been rocking it. It is a Chinese scooter. I wouldnt mind having another chinese to be honest. I heard a lot of good stuff about Yamaha even the Hondas. I am not to familiar with Vespa. Im glad i was able to find replacement parts based around the Gy6 engine itself just to keep riding it.

      @Clorox Tree yeah I'm going to produce a cons video shortly. As far as it any modifications and maintenance issues, those can be found within my videos... anytime I have a problem I make a video about it. I already have two separate modification videos produced. Also filmed replacing my engine twice, and when my solenoid was clicking and the bike wouldn't start.

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Clorox Tree no problem. The engine is a Taiwanese engine made by taida, and ran me about $110 I think. If you haven't already watch my video title " should you buy a Chinese scooter". In that video I explained that I got my scooter to take apart and build my own product. I also mention if you're willing to work with your hands then you should have no problem with a Chinese scooter.
