  • Hope gets her Gy6 171cc Taida engine installed. I thought I might need to remove the entire engine, but this proved not to be the case. Was a fun little project, looking forward to seeing the difference in power. Stay tuned for the break-in period I might do a little motovloging.

    Hey guys for anyone who watches this video I made a big error starting at 7:30, putting the chain guide in upside down. After 450 miles into break-in on this engine a metal shard flew off the guide and blew my head. Please don't make the same mistake could have been a lot worse. Black plastic side faces up.

      @@NCYSTORE Oh yeah, I know Glixal isn't the best thing for my build but this all started out as a budget build. (Chinese bike and all) I just knew if I wanted any longevity I had to get a Taiwanese engine. Went with the Taida only because the piston rings were already installed, or I would be rocking the NCY 61mm.

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Great question. At the time of this video I hadn't come across a great gasket sealer. That red high temp is absolute garbage! It helped me mess up my original 150cc engine, attempting to seal a leak. I have since learned and purchased Yamabond 4, which is what Yamaha uses to seal its engines. I'll be making a video about it when I change my cam from that A14 to an A9 later this summer. Honda also makes a version call Hondabond 4.

    Great content on your channel brutha! I'm in the middle of the same upgrade on my custom build for a Ruckus. I have a Jonway 150cc (157QMJ) donor engine. I bought the 61mm Taida kit, and it should be drop in, but I am running into a difference of about .6mm in my engine case opening, so it does not drop right in. The outer cylinder diameter is 62.7mm, and my engine case opening is only 62.3mm. The info on the Taida says the engine case bore should be 62.9 to accommodate. I'm kinda confused how this engine case would be any different than another GY6 longcase. I'm thinking I may just have to get to hand sanding the bore by tracking on the new gasket circumference, and using that as a guide as to how much material to remove. I really don't want to tear down the whole engine again, and go to a machine shop for a bore difference of only .6mm. Any thoughts would be much appreciated?

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the compliment bro. Okay, I imagine you can't send the engine back so there's that...this one is tough. I would attempt to hand sand before taking it to a shop. The boring tool is to costly, unless you are going to use it more than once. We have to be careful with the sleeve because it's not as thick as we would like. T, is it possible to crack the engine case, and attempt to fit it around it? Using the piston to hold postion. How good are you with a dremel?

    • @timreilly4917
      @timreilly4917 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kachiskid I had that thought about the Dremel too, but I think it would take off too much material at a time. I feel like I will be able to better maintain the true circular nature by hand, and might end up with an uneven surface if I tried Dremel action on it. I know I'm sacrificing extra labor time, but my thought is it will have better integrity for the long haul. We'll see how it goes. I'll be tackling it this afternoon. My hope is no more than a few hours to get a perfect fit.

    Im up tuning my 125 cc Gy6 cylinder to 180cc (63mm) What are the intake and outtake diameters I need to drill my 125cc cylinder head to? Also what size main jet you recommend for the default carburator of 125cc?

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whoa Vicmot...that is hard to answer. The reason I went with the 171cc and nothing larger is because anything over 171cc's you have to bore out your engine. The 171 was just a slide in. for a question like that, you might want to contact the Ruck Shop. Jetting also is hard, depends, do you have a pod filter, and high performance exhaust? My stock jets didn't have any numbers on them, which sucks. I am currently tuning and attempting to find the right jet for my bike. I'm up to a 120 main and 40 pilot and I'm running lean. Safe bet would to stay around 98 - 110, on a totally stock bike. Depends on the weather and the altitude of where you live.

And in a few weeks I am buying a Honda CBR 300R 2020. I will still keep my GY6. At the moment, my problem is removing the wrist pin from the stock piston. • @XSevenSonata
      @XSevenSonata 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No luck. I ordered a piston pin remover and will try that. If that doesn't work, considering the piston is hollow aluminum, I am going to cut it parallel to the pin and split it off. Maybe need a slotted screwdriver to pry a little. I won't be putting stress on the rod.
      I had trouble deciding between the CBR, YZF, and GSX. The CBR has a few things I dislike. The headlights for example. They work independently. The displacement is more of 280cc rather than the R3's 330cc. No gear indicator, although I can add one. No hinged fuel cap. Poor color choices. Actually, only two choices. There not a big deal type issues, just saying. But, my heart is still set on the CBR for some reason. I'm going to at least figure out what I can do to get the headlights to work together so I dont have to use projectors. That's just weird.

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear about the pin, there must have been a lot of heat.
      I imagine you want the CBR because Honda makes a great bike. That being said I didn't know about the headlight issue. Most likely you have already seen it but if you haven't... th-cam.com/video/ycEE5JX95UI/w-d-xo.html
      As a R3 owner it's only 321cc's, but I did know the CBR was a little short of 300cc's. Are you going to be making payments on the bike, or buying it outright? I personally DON'T get bored with bikes and need something faster in a month or 2. I will most likely never sell mine! If I want something faster, I will throw a 600cc in the garage.

      @@kachiskid Thank you brother..I believe when you use it on the base gasket,it increases heat conductivity between the cylinder and the case,which is a benefit for heat dissipation..key in these air cooled engines..I also think it strengthens the gasket and extends its life..I used it dry on a gy6 150 cc transmission cover and one of the advantages is ,it makes reinstallation a breeze..I wanna share with you some of my tests results on the gy6,since my income depends on them..I found a budget variator and rollers that work amazing and i would like you try it..You can even make a video on it and share with the scooter community..Ler me know if want the information

    Im confused im lookin on ebay aliexpress for 61mm big bore kit. For some reason ebay says 150-200cc but most say you need to adjust the case size. To much info and i can't find wat i wanted. The 171cc is the one that will fit the 150cc gy6 engine without changing the case size? Since on ebay its like 30-40€ 61mm bore kit but i don't wanna change the case size. (still need to install the racing vario parts and different weights had no time yet to look at it its not that great weather plus with work and the night falling quick.)
    Anyway 171cc is the max without changing case size if im right. Even them im not if it will work since the atv quad gy6 150cc is a 4 valve head so a bit different then the others if im correct.
    Racing or performance cdi did not that much. Not in speed just start rpm is higher.
    Im just looking for cheap upgrades (cams bore kit etc) but i think my exhaust line with be the problem if i tune it much, its very small in diameter but since its on the quad i can't really put a bigger size on like the scooters have.

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Taida and NCY kits are the only ones that I know that will slide in with cutting into the case. That being said I have never gotten a cheaper kit but I was thinking the same thing as you. They should be the same size but that (some boring may be required) scared me off too. I'm a person who looks to get the cheapest price I can also, but for my engines, I know quality costs.

      @reggiexp69 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kachiskid yeah i dont really care for the engine i mean a new one is 200€ of ebay.
      but when i see the 30€ big bore kit 61mm on ebay kinda tempting :)
      but im getting ahead of my self since i still need to install the racing vario and change some other things.
      but at 30€ it seems like a fun thing but if i need to bore the case i dont have the stuff for that or know any one who can do it..
      i did find a aliexpress seller that has 61mm and 58.5mm but i think 58.5 is only 155cc.... im not sure it doesnt say anything. it says 150-200cc kit those china listing are confusing AF

    • @kachiskid
      @kachiskid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I'm sure it can be tempting, but hold off and get your variator done, work with the different weighed rollers and you might be surprised. Yup, I saw that 155cc also, that is a waste of an upgrade. How good are you at tuning carbs.? If you jet the carb. just right you will get some more power.

      @@kachiskid yeha i mean 5cc aint gonna do shit
      yeah i know, like one of my video shows, the belt aint going all the way on my vario so i guess lighter weights would help that. havent toke to the time to look at my adly 150cc quad. to busy with work and christmas and new year + i got my self a triton 450 quad to many things to do :) plus shit rain weather often, its stil stock the carb i need to jet it bigger i think cause with the fake akrapovic exhaust it might need a biger jet, cause i checked the spark plug the other day it was pretty black. so the mixture is not perfect. but it runs fine. i hope that at some point it will do 80kmh. and not 65kmh

After I get this CDI video wrapped, hopefully tomorrow, I got an A9 cam and going back to a 61mm head. I have a 57.4mm on there now because of that error in the guide. I love that Taida though.
