    I found this channel looking for guidance on some repairs and maintenance and the video I found was perfect for showing me what I needed to do. And that video was 8 years old. I'm shocked this channel is still around. Keep it up.

      Ditto on what this guy said. These two videos on Chinese scooters just gave me several years worth of knowledge and experience in a compact, fun to watch video that also saved me thousands of dollars. I have a JOG 150cc Fly Wing Zhilong Chinese scooter and am on the first 30 miles. Found this video right on time. Saving up for a Honda. No disrespect Zhilong, this thing tops out at 60 mph and legal on the highway but I have a car so its literally for short trips during good weather when I don't want to deal with parking. We all buy cheap shet all the time with the intent of it lasting but I'm probably gonna get a serious bike eventually. Keep up the informative videos.

    Stumbled on this because I now own a 2005 Honda Reflex and wasn't sure how to change the oil. I learned so much thank you! Before purchasing a Japanese scooter I purchased not once but twice a brand new China 150cc Eagle scooters with the crappy engines. Brand new out of box, I changed the oil and it was burnt and crude at 000 miles. The engine sounded like a Harley because the exhaust wasn't bolted and had no gasket seal going into the engine, they simply added a touch of gasket sealant. Living on Clearwater Beach the screws, cables, pretty much everything metal instantly starts rusting. Soo pretty right out of the box, that doesn't last long! Take it from me and this video, Japan makes scooters that can last and run much better and way longer, for decades, not just the first 2,000 miles! On another note, getting it register with the DMV was a problem because of the name of the Manufactured name. I fixed that by taking a picture of the actual vin plate on the scooter and zoomed in on its crazy elongated name!

    The chinese scooters got me into wrenching and learning about mechanichal stuff. The one with the most miles with a original engine i currently have is a daily driver to and from work and it has 13 k miles and it runs great still but its like you said if you take care of it it will take care of you.I have owned like 20 of these things now and 6 at the same time. Its an addiction i have a problem....help.
    Nah but honestly. They are a lot of fun. Cheap and easy to work on and if they crap out completly just get another engine.

      @IFixShet  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes but what I'm trying to emphasize on here is this video is for beginners they're not going to want to go through that entire process my job is to simplify the information for them so that they can avoid having to do these things. The front brakes are just in reality a lot simpler to resolve than the rear brakes a lot of these people at their house do not have the proper tools to remove tires and things like that the front brakes only require a basic tool set

    Another great video, Thanks. I bought a new Chinese scooter so that way I know how the scooter was treated. Thanks to the youtube how to videos for helping me work on it myself. My scoot is a 168cc with a 161QMK motor. I know the place I ordered it from has replacement body parts but who knows how long they will have them in stock, especially if they discontinue that scooter. I know they are asking $400 just for the motor. Anyhow, I have only been running non ethanol fuel and have had no problems so far, even after sitting all winter. I did discover a couple openings (one square cut out) on the bottom of the cvt case, I am guessing to get more air, although I don't think it would be good to get dirt, rocks or water up in there, right? I am not looking forward to working on the rear brakes when the time comes, I hate working on breaks! 😆

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The aircut in the rear of the CVT that you're talking about actually has a snail form before it enters the case meaning there's a big couple of Loops in the metal to keep debris from flying up it is there for two reasons to hopefully take clutch damage and get it out of the case as well as belt Shred and Worn Parts it has to have somewhere to go. It also allows a ventilation spot for heat that is created because you'll notice the variator has a fan on it so when it spins it's freely moving air allowing heat to disperse out of the rear of the CVT through the snail wind.

    Bought my scooter used, its a 2019, upgraded to 100cc to help with uphills, got 2500+ miles so far and it runs well, no issues...Great information, what's your take on adding a carb cleaner once in awhile? And thank you for the ethanol free gas tip!

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There's no point to adding carb cleaner it won't do anything except for cause all the rubbers and gaskets inside of the carburetor to swell which is not good.

  • @maskmite1
    @maskmite1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    About the fuel, what if you have a EFI fuel injected not a normal carburetor.

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The only difference is you're going to be using ethanol free fuel, all of the rest of the maintenance will still apply. If you have tappet valves they need to be adjusted at certain intervals and your oil change is pretty normal every 1000 miles there's not too many differences

    • @maskmite1
      @maskmite1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

  • @dantickle5562
    @dantickle5562 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Mine calls for 15-40 in the transmission, but it sounds weird, even for the engine which definitely sounds crazy. I'm not riding a diesel. I'll use mobile t4 synthetic, but don't know about the transmission.

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Normally you can use GL3 up through GL5 on scooters without issue

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Be careful with some synthetic based oils especially in the engine they can break down the cheap gaskets with all the detergents that they use. Lucas products are tried and true with almost every engine on the planet to not hurt gaskets or seals.

      It's UBER expensive and 2-stroke pre-mix. I'd do it if I had no alternative, but it will foul the plug pretty quick and blow blue smoke all the time. When I lived in Maryland, I didn't have any choice but run ethanol contaminated fuel. In rural Pennsylvania I now have multiple places that sell uncontaminated fuel.

    Desperate for help, please... bought an XPro 150cc scooter and unable to get the shocks to fit.
    Left rear shock is 13" and connection dimension (from hole centers) is 15-1/4", while the right rear shock, also 13" is supposed to fit a connection that's 15-3/4". How do I achieve this as Amazon seller insists I should be able to? Greatly appreciate your website! Bill

    • @IFixShet
      @IFixShet  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @user-cx2pl6nr2o unfortunately the Amazon Seller lied to you and to make it fit you're going to have to customize the scooter. This happens all the time with the gas filled compression shocks which is what I'm guessing you purchased. Unfortunately there's no simple way to do it other than to modify the scooter to fit your needs if you are really that set on installing aftermarket shocks unfortunately it normally comes with having to modify the scooter itself to work you may have to remove the old connections and weld in new points for connection for those to be able to work. The answer is there's no simple way to do it without some customization and modifying to the scooter
