- It's time to review and rank the baseball card hobby's newest release, 2021 Topps Series 2. In this definitive 2021 Topps Series 2 set guide and review I will review the set design, the complete checklist, key cards, rookies, retired stars, insert cards, relics and more. I also review the auto checklist, the entire parallel rainbow and additional surprises found throughout the 2021 Topps Series 2 set.
Diving even deeper, I take a look at who should buy into the Topps Series 2set and who should stay away, dissecting the positives and the negatives of the set. I even look at the team checklists to give you helpful hints on what teams to target in PYT breaks and random team breaks.
This will lead us to the 1 Cent "Sensational Set" Ranking. The Sensational Set Ranking is the most complete set rating system on the internet where I rank the 2021 Topps Series 2 set in 10 different categories. I then tally up the overall scores in each category which gives us an overall rating score. The Sensational Set rating score compares the 2021 Topps Series 2 set with past Topps Finest Baseball sets as well as with other sets that have been releases in the 2021 baseball card season

Your videos are so helpful. I mostly have collected hockey cards but started to get more into baseball in 2022 and didn't know where to start. Just pulled 2 hayes in a box from walmart. Found 2 boxes and hit big I think. Found 5 or 6 parallels, a 1 out of 50. Cody bellinger relic . Lots of great rookies. Hope for long and great careers.

I'm glad you mentioned base card design. I'm not a big fan of this messy futuristic design. The most annoying thing was the font/font size that jams all the letters together. What is this, a font for ants? Bowman also went futuristic, but kept it clean, organized, legible. There were some excellent images though -- I love the base Giolito. Anyway, great review.
A font for ants is the best thing I've read all day😂. Yeah the design is not my favorite at all.

My Walmart had topps series 2 so I bought 2 and pulled a 1/76 Taylor Rogers parallel

Complete sets will be available in a few week. I think it'll be close to $60 or $70, but yes you will be able to get it.

I haven’t heard anyone mention his name this year. There’s a lot of great players who do the little things right who dont get noticed bc it’s not a home run or a high batting avg.
I agree on QC on series 1 . The centering was worst I've ever seen. Say you have a Lot of ten Odell Rookies. Out of the 10 maybe one card will be halfway centered. I'm building the set so this is comment is a fact

Where should I try to buy retail this year?
Target online... Friday's around 7 am they drop cards online.
@@1CentSportsCards I am a Target member and I can't find a damn thing on my app anymore. Even had the lady at customer service trying to find something and she couldn't find anything either.
So if I want to find a auto is there any retail options? Or only hobby?
Autos come out of retail aswell just super tough pulls

Guaranteed autos are only in the jumbo hobby. But autos are randomly inserted in all formats at various odds per pack depe ding on the format.
Surprised Jared Kelenic didn’t make the list.
Being that he was just called up a few weeks ago, I'm not surprised. Andrew Vaughn was the one that surprised me a bit more. Normally, you have to be on a big league roster before your considered so Topps would not have had the time to get him in... But a high number SP would have been cool...
Where are your Diamond Kings or Absolute Reviews? Im pulling amazing relics and autos out of those sets.

I love how most the rookie sps are completely off center and miscut. I don’t even think it’s an accident at this point. When I finally pulled a centered one it had a horribly cut top edge. Horrible horrible qc
Yeah... It's terrible the quality control on parallels this year.
Hopefully they step up the qc ,series 1 was pretty bad.
Every set has been bad this year... Bowman was terrible with virtually every insert and S1 was almost unbearable when a colored parallel came out of a pack.

That's a great pull... He's most likely the front runner for NL ROY at the moment.
The hobby boxes are pretty lame. Plus the prices are a bit down already. About $90 for hobby, about $180 for jumbo. I would recommend picking up a jumbo rather than two hobbies....
Why is series 2 so cheap?
Prices on cards are falling in general which is a good thing. They've been inflated for the past year.

There was no way he was gonna be in here. He just got called up a couple weeks ago. To be considered you have to have been on a MLB roster. For the most part, rookies would have had to break camp with the big league club to make it in series 2... That's why I'm surprised Andrew Vaughn isn't in the set.

Card quality should be a 2. It’s bad. Rookie checklist could have been a lot better. No Kelenic, no Vaughn. Design for 2021 is awful. They ruined the parallels. The independence days look like donruss emoji cards. You’re giving this set wayyyyyyyyyy too much credit.
Vaughn was a bit of a surprise, but Kelenic just got called up a few weeks ago. That shouldn't surprise anyone that he's not in this set. Having Jazz, Hayes and Cronenworth all in the same set plus a boat load of other rookies is pretty solid IMO. Take S2 2019... It has Tatis, Alonso and Eloy with Vlad as SP. At the time people said the same thing about 19 S2 not being that strong as it only had a couple big RCs. The card quality - well, we'll have to see and I called it out pretty hard in the review. And yes, the independence parallel is very Donruss. All in all though, the checklists add up, there's enough to chase, and the flagship holds value so I feel it's a fair score, but you do make valid points for sure. Thanks for watching!
