Its really dope to see aes finally getting some real recognition. I've been listening to him for the last 10 years and I always wondered why he was so underrated. I did notice that he did adapt to the times a little more with this album which was one thing I felt he needed to do simply just to get a little more known but was worried it would ruin what makes him so great, but he was able to pull it off perfectly and still keep the style and feel that he's known for. this is history in hip hop. incredulous performance
Incredulous? I suppose it is hard to believe something this immaculate has been made.
So glad to see such a phenomenal artist get such a wide audience with one four minute performance.
Hopefully some of the viewership researched Aesop after the show. Dude is a beast among boys.
Higher. Word. Usage. Than. Any. Author/Poet/Rapper. In. History. Didn't know he was on Colbert, AWESOME!
"you fricken' dorks" killed me - fuckin television...
crazy how good he sounds. most times live isnt close to recorded. He was dead on
bet the audience thought it was asap rocky before the show..then they left with their minds blown
Yep..I hate the fact that when you bring up thus legend people think you are talking about that b.s. artist.
I only knew him from TOC.
The fact that Aesop Rocky had to rip off another artist's name shows how unoriginal and lame as fuck he is.
You know the guys have no beef right? Look up "Aesop meets asap at Rock the Bells"
ASAP Rocky isn’t wack tho
He's made it. Not that he ever needed to be on tv to be the untouchable, but it feels good.
Colbert has hosted two of my favorite bands: The National and Aesop Rock. Both are indie af. Colbert is awesome
Angolünd SC it sounds like colbert says asap rock at the end closing credits..twice
Aesop Rocks
Just one of the greatest lyricist on the planet, that’s all ❤️
Few, if any, more worthy of this spot. Aesop deserves more recognition than anyone with more...
WTF? Aesop Rock, Yo La Tengo, and Stephen Colbert all together?? How did I not know about this?
My thoughts exactly! I love ylt and aesop!
Right?!? My first thought :"So I HAVE been living under a rock..."
first time on network television, killin it for a dead audience
Its really dope to see aes finally getting some real recognition. I've been listening to him for the last 10 years and I always wondered why he was so underrated. I did notice that he did adapt to the times a little more with this album which was one thing I felt he needed to do simply just to get a little more known but was worried it would ruin what makes him so great, but he was able to pull it off perfectly and still keep the style and feel that he's known for. Hats off.
Goddamn. AES is a legend.
Got into Aesop Rock from the THPS series. Took me a while to truly realize his genius and he still surprises me everytime he drops something. One of my inspirations alongside Atmosphere and MF DOOM. Sidenote: I love how this bassline sounds live, that tone is dope.
Been a fan since i found labor days but this song is the absolute illest shit i ever heard. "I used to floss the albatross like daddy kane with the chain. trying to jettison the ballast with the hazardous waste" no MC ever will surpass this. If you havent read the old man and the sea you should ...trust me
Ace and Yo La Tengo in one performance? I'm so glad I stumbled upon this.
Thanks for uploading this. The vid got removed from the Colb show channel for some god awful reason.
I absolutely adore how in between the chorus and the next verse he's like specifically gracious to the fans in the audience, and probably everyone who's a fan who's watching on TV or on the Internet.
Colbert's audience is smarter than most, but still probably only caught 5% of the bars.
Just saw him in Pomona it was great. This man is amazing love him rob and dj zone.
what a great crowd.
Aesop Rock's wordplay is second to none! Dude is next level
Thank you for posting this!
Been listening to the whole crew for over 15 years. Wish he was more popular in the mainstream.
Criminally slept on.
I like how it sounds like he’s out of breath constantly and just keeps going
Been into Aesop since i was 15 back in 2000
Aesop rock is one of those few great artists that are even better live than on the albums
What a weird place to perform but damn good for him, love aesop.
Unbelievable song, unbelievable album.
Thank you for reuploading this!
aes is the epitome of underground hip hop
One of the best touring acts in my opinion
The fuckin GOAT
Perfect track for network tv
hahaha exactly, nailed it
This song is already a banger . This here!this was fuckin amazing to see Live!
Debuts on live TV can never be taken back, but they can take you aback. Aesop has been Laboring since back in the Days. Phenomenal rendition.
Also, where's the props for Rob Sonic?
Man, i come back to this video and everytime im surprised by the fact that the audience kind of fucks with it, even if they don't know him, it seems like they enjoyed the performance and something about that warms my heart
