Some other ones to ease into Aes. Fish Tales Kirby Long Legged Larry Minful Solutionism Holy Waterfall Gauze Whales (Hail Mary Melon) Aes is very unique in that you can't just dip a toe, he begs for a deeo dive but some people don't vibe to be fair. His entire catalog is like a journey through his life, with each project orienting around a particular thesis. If you dug this it's time to be ahipted. Subbed
I find it lowkey hilarious that y’all are just finding out about Aesop. There’s simply too many tracks to recommend. I think y’all would get a kick out of: Aesop Rock - Klutz
Oh these cats gonna learn today... Aes is without a doubt the greatest lyricist. It's not even close. You just need to study to get on his level. Man is decades ahead of everyone.
I've been a huge fan of Aes for over 25 years so i've watched him develop from the underground up to being the marquee signing on the Rhymesayers label. For anyone just discovering him i always suggest working through his discography backwards as his later stuff is way more accessible than his earlier word-heavy, condensed stuff. Lupe Fiasco did a really good dissection of Aes' style and comparing it to a Jackson Pollock painting that looks like mess (or sounds like noise) until you begin looking at individual parts. Anyway, check out some of his storytelling songs like TV on 10, Acid King, Blood Sandwich, Aggressive Steven or Get Out The Car for a real spotlight on what i feel is his greatest skill. Cheers! 🍻
Asap rocky was literally still wearing nappies (or diapers) when aesop rock started rapping 😂 he is actually genuinely so good. He also has the most unique words out of his first 35000 lyrics out of a load of different rappers, more than Em, Wu Tang, JMT, MF Doom, Mos Def, Tribe Called Quest, Geto Boys, Kendrick, Kanye, Kano.. hes nuts, None Shall Pass, Rings, Gopher Guts, Daylight, Zero Dark Thirty are some other banging song's of his
Dig the vibe, love the artist. Instant sub. I must insist you ignore all these other people that didn't suggest that you start at "Rings" with Ase tho. Going in too deep too fast on his dense material turns most people around because they are absolutely not ready and cant hear it yet.
Aes was also a member of the Weathermen and Hail Mary Mallon, but my favorite track of his would have to be either None Shall Pass or Run the Numbers (with El-P).

Tracks to check out: Lice - Ask Anyone, Hail Mary Mallon - Dollywood, Aesop Rock - Tomorrow Morning, The Uncluded - Bats, El-P - Run the Numbers. Anything Aes is fire.
There’s a long as hell video on Lupe Fiasco talking about Aesop Rock. Idk if you two want to make a reaction out of that long a$$ video but it’s definitely worth watching on your own time either way
Aes Rock is not for the casual listener. You have to actually think about what he’s saying and that hurts him in the mainstream. In this track he mentions “an occupation popular with demons and ducks”. He’s saying he’s a demon, not a duck which is a prey animal that spends its time in the main stream. For a person who is interested in deeper meanings in an artist’s lyricism Aes is the goat. The more you dig and the more you familiarize yourself with his body of work the more you pull from his tracks. Even if you were already heavily familiar with a track you’ll find more depth as you decipher other songs. Also, he produced this record (as well as tons of other stuff) in full. Hence “Don’t need no help” etc.

Yes. One of the greatest talking about being one of the greatest
This is poetry with hip hop beats.
Sample is from Sweet Tea from a song called On The Smooth Tip
Good luck breaking down this man's bars. Aesop rock is an absolute legend, and like a fine wine he gets better with age.
Aes writes like he has an english degree and I love him for it. all of Rhymesayers is HUGE, I recommend checking out their entire label!
The sample was also used by Souls of Mischief on the track Where the F*** you at. The original track is Sweet Tea, On the Smooth Tip
I don't think anyone in the comments have mentioned it if you guys didnt' catch it, but Aesop is on the label Atmosphere cofounded, Rhymesayers. Another amazing artist to check out from their crew is Brother Ali - I'd recommend Uncle Sam Goddamn if you don't mind a political song.
The only Aesop that’s older than Rock was the dude with fables. Y’all are really on some underground culture shit and I love it.
Yo, Aes is the absolute GOAT, this dude is crazy and can hit some more approachable, goofy shit or some absolute mind melters. Best to always start with something digestable, this was a good one, as it's his take on hip-hop and mc's.
I see a lot of recomendations so i won't try to duolicate wzcept to echo Rings as a must.
Some other ones to ease into Aes.
Fish Tales
Kirby
Long Legged Larry
Minful Solutionism
Holy Waterfall
Gauze
Whales (Hail Mary Melon)
Aes is very unique in that you can't just dip a toe, he begs for a deeo dive but some people don't vibe to be fair.
His entire catalog is like a journey through his life, with each project orienting around a particular thesis. If you dug this it's time to be ahipted.
Subbed
Gauze has one of the most satisfying beat changes of any song ever
I find it lowkey hilarious that y’all are just finding out about Aesop.
There’s simply too many tracks to recommend. I think y’all would get a kick out of:
Aesop Rock - Klutz
Aes is an absolute legend and he's aging like a fine wine. Songs like Attaboy and Crystal Sword or Flamingo Pink
Oh these cats gonna learn today... Aes is without a doubt the greatest lyricist.
It's not even close. You just need to study to get on his level. Man is decades ahead of everyone.
the sample is on the smooth tip by sweet tee
Aesop Rock - Rings, this is what you need to react guys)
BRO OMFG THEY FINALLY DID IT
I've been a huge fan of Aes for over 25 years so i've watched him develop from the underground up to being the marquee signing on the Rhymesayers label.
Cheers! 🍻
Aesop came before rocky lol, he's up there with DOOM as one of the best 'technical lyricist'
Aes predates the ASAP crew. His name is from Aesop's fables
Checkout ‘Long Legged Larry’ by Aesop
Asap rocky was literally still wearing nappies (or diapers) when aesop rock started rapping 😂 he is actually genuinely so good. He also has the most unique words out of his first 35000 lyrics out of a load of different rappers, more than Em, Wu Tang, JMT, MF Doom, Mos Def, Tribe Called Quest, Geto Boys, Kendrick, Kanye, Kano.. hes nuts, None Shall Pass, Rings, Gopher Guts, Daylight, Zero Dark Thirty are some other banging song's of his
Aesop Rock is not to compare. He is a whole different universe. Dense compact rhymes and essence of rapping. In my opinion😅
Man should have a star everyone has slept on aesop for years he makes real shit
Dig the vibe, love the artist. Instant sub.
I must insist you ignore all these other people that didn't suggest that you start at "Rings" with Ase tho.
Going in too deep too fast on his dense material turns most people around because they are absolutely not ready and cant hear it yet.
👍 welcome to the Buzz Fam ✌️🍻
More Aes Please ❤ His newest single 'Mindful Solutionism' is fantastic!
I was late to hearing Aes, first heard him on Run the Numbers, a collab with El-p. One of the finest lyricists no doubt.
Aes was also a member of the Weathermen and Hail Mary Mallon, but my favorite track of his would have to be either None Shall Pass or Run the Numbers (with El-P).
I haven't seen anybody say this. Even though im a year late.... ASAP Rocky chose that name as homage to aesop rock. You were almost right lol
he has met Aesop Rocky, oddly enough. Zero Dark Thorty or Pigs tho if u wanna delve into his lyrical genuis or if you wanna have fun there's Kirby or literally anything by Prof, he's on Aesops label (Rhymesayers)
The GOAT. Hands down. In lyricism, cadence, and beats. His Hail Mary Mallon and The Uncluded work is solid too. Or Lice with Homeboy Sandman. Its all fire. Tracks to check out: Lice - Ask Anyone, Hail Mary Mallon - Dollywood, Aesop Rock - Tomorrow Morning, The Uncluded - Bats, El-P - Run the Numbers. Anything Aes is fire.
That sample is from an old song in the 80s by this mc girl Sweet tee called smooth tip i think.
There’s a long as hell video on Lupe Fiasco talking about Aesop Rock. Idk if you two want to make a reaction out of that long a$$ video but it’s definitely worth watching on your own time either way
Asap rocky can’t hold a candle to Aesop rocks flame. He’s fire spittin dragon of a rapper
Hence “Don’t need no help” etc.
a cool little fact is a male duck is also known as a Drake.
Technically the demons are labels and the ducks are artists. ;) Hence being shopped as a saga, etc. etc.
Awesome rocky is second to the man best I've heard
If you guys missed it one of the hardest lines ever in hip hop is "but you as anything menacing is a difficult sell"
Definitely the best lyricist of all time i love this shit man
dude is a lyrical GOAT! theres a chart of rappers with the best vocabulary....he TOPS ALL-EASILY!
Aesop new song Mindful Solutionism
Do more Aesop please!
