Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

I asked God to show up one time... a really hard time in my life. He did. Holy Spirit showed up so strong I was on the floor for 2 hours. Not in pain, just peace. Like a blanket. He healed my heart in that time. Seek and you will find.

Oh man I don't know why but I watched this in bed and just burst into uncontrollable tears. My life is good, I earn well. I believe in the lord but could live a better less sinful life. Conviction got me bad there. The thought of how pure Christ is, really is unparalleled. I am so unworthy of his love. I'd love to meet this guy Cliffe one day, I'd give him such a huge hug. He talks in a way my scientific brain really can get to grips with. One day I'll try to visit the Greek manuscript at the Manchester library. It's only 2 hours away from my home. Perhaps you won't read this, but regardless; thank you Cliffe. The Lord is working through you sir. It's very clear to see.
I am seeing this a year later but thank you for sharing this. The Holy Spirit truly moves and works in ways we cannot quite comprehend and I pray that He has done a work in your life to lead you through the chaotic world we now live in. 🙏 Never stop seeking Him - He is here beyond the door, knocking. Let Him into the auditorium of your heart and allow Him to take over every aspect of your being, for only in this surrender can we be truly moulded and used for His glorious purposes that we may never fully understand. Mitchell C You are in error on the scriptures. God made man in his image. God is three in one: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You are also three in one like His image: Soul, Body, and spirit (aka mind or heart). We will not take this earth for He says a New heaven, new earth, New Jerusalem, and also New Hell (aka Lake of Fire). The Kingdom of heaven is here now because Jesus makes grace available now.

Cliff your way of thinking through the issue is amazing. I am really working on explaining why I believe what I believe and finding ways of sharing my faith with others
I would strongly stress that, whatever intellectually satisfying answers we can provide, that we never ever leave the Bible out of the equation (and the Bible should be our basis anyhow) because in the end, we are praying for a change of heart, not just a change of mind. I stress this because I know from experience that just getting intellectual assent does not a Christian make. Pepper your apologetics with relevant Scriptures to enable the true seeker to continue the pursuit on their own. _Just my .2¢_
Jesse Bryant yes that is fine. Both can be used. Even Jesus didn’t just use scripture and when he used it it was with people who knew the Torah. Many people don’t know scripture so we use what they know and step by step we bring them to scripture and they began to see how truthful the scriptures are. God uses all things to spread his message he even uses creation to explain his message. There are many methods and God uses different people with different gifting s to water, plant, and then God brings forth the increase.

That's basically what apologetics is, no? I only make the point because I see so many Christians attempting to defend their faith without using the Bible. And without the Bible, there is no good reason to embrace the Christian faith. That's pretty much the point I'm driving at. Getting someone to move from atheist or skeptic to agnostic or deist, is not the goal. It may be a start! But the scriptures always provide them with a point of reference. (Romans 10:14)

No, I'm not. I'm saying that when defending the faith, it is always appropriate to use scripture - or at least to have a scripture foundation for whatever point you're trying to make. True seekers will ask for it anyhow, it is best to be prepared!

Brothers and Sisters,
don't be satisfied with where you are spiritually. We all can do something to improve our relationship with the Lord.
We can do more praying, or studying, or just get rid of that certain thing that's slowing you down from having a more complete relationship with your Lord.
You have to be determined to get as close as you can to God Almighty. When we are content with where we are, sometimes there is a tendency to get a little lazy, and not worship God like we use to do. So I'm asking all of you to do the very best that you can to improve your relationship with the Lord.

Did he say that as a counselor he was instructed to tell a patient to cheat if needed to help their self esteem? This is why it’s so difficult for a Christian to work in any field! I’ve been wanting to go back to school, but I don’t know what’s safe anymore! I’m a woman so I can’t preach, which I wouldn’t even if I were allowed. That’s entirely too much responsibility!

This is the guidance of Allah: He giveth that guidance to whom He pleaseth, of His worshippers. If they were to join other gods with Him, all that they did would be vain for them.

Proof of Christ resurrection:
1. His tomb was heavily guarded by Roman soldiers. No way his body could be stolen. His disciples have all forsaken him at this point.
2. 3 days after his burial, his body was missing in an empty tomb and the Roman authorities could not find his missing body.
3. Meanwhile many of his ex-disciples began to claim they have seen the resurrected Christ. Many new converts despite renewed and fierce efforts by Roman authorities to stop the resurgence of Christianity.
4. Christians everywhere were persecuted. Many refused to renounce their faith and died from fierce persecution by the Romans. All the 12 disciples except John were persecuted to death for their faith. All of them insisted they met the risen Christ.
5. Meanwhile Christianity began to spread throughout the Roman empire and around the world in the first century.
The fact that Christianity survived 2000+ years after Jesus was crucified is proof that Jesus rose from the dead. It is the only religion that had been so rigorously persecuted yet remain a religion of love and peace to this day.
none of your so called facts can be viewed as conclusive evidence. the only mention of soldiers guarding the tomb is from matthew, no other gospel accounts mention this "fact". the empty tomb is not proof that it contained a body. the bible only mentions vaguely about the deaths of james and peter. as to the other apostles there is absolutely no historical documentation as to their fate. all twelve apostles gave testimony they met the risen christ? when? where? christianity spread around the world? other religions besides christianity have also been around for many years, therefore according to your logic, they too must be true.

And if somehow he proved God did it it still wouldn't warrant worship or reason to follow dictated morality. It's insane really how religion is successful but I think I"m preaching to the choir :)

While so many take the intellectually lazy "I lack belief" approach to the existence of God, when you challenge them regarding what they DO believe and WHY you quickly notice that they have not applied their own standard to their own (generally naturalistic) "faith" - or ever consciously thought about it all! _They believe that their position is simply the default! (Though most don't state it in those terms!)_ When defending their "faith", they usually appeal to generalities (cultural mantras regarding evolution such as "there's tons of evidence", "there's mountains of evidence", "the evidence is everywhere", "we see it happening every day", "everyone knows it's true", "virtually all scientists agree", "I'm not your teacher", etc., etc., etc.), do what they can to put the onus on you (seemingly failing to recognize that the Christian theists position is philosophical in nature while the naturalist [they generally don't recognize that that is what they are] is the one claiming "science" - although they are unable to produce it), or simply scoff and walk off, but usually not before informing you that you're a brain washed idiot who can't think for himself. _But what are they living for?_ A while back I asked a dear atheistic friend of mine those 4 fundamental questions of human existence: 1. origins, 2. meaning, 3. morality, and 4. destiny. Her answers were: 1. Evolution (chance) AND don't know/it doesn't affect my life/impact my thinking, 2. pleasure/making myself happy, 3. we're conscious beings (and there are things we don't like), and 4. death is the end - there is nothing. _Such empty and hopeless, rather thoughtless responses are not uncommon, are they?_
I don't think people ask themselves "what am i living for and what's the evidence for that"?, I personally don't think we're born with a specific purpose in life, it's down to us as individuals to find purpose. What would you say your purpose in life is jociah?, and what's the evidence for that?

And btw, the Christian worldview has to do with timeless principles, the fact that the narrative is rooted in history, and the Bible contains truths that reflect what YOU and I experience. It is also the ONLY fully rational, internally consistent, self-sustaining worldview known to man, and it is support by more extant manuscript evidence than anything else in history, bar none! There is also extra-biblical support, as well as historical, archaeological, prophetic, and scientific evidence/support.

If someone you know is told by doctors that they have a large inoperable brain tumour and they only have a few weeks to live, they show you the physical bulge and also have scans of the of the tumour. You & your friends pray to Jesus for the tumour to be healed and a few days later the bulge is gone and on returning to the Doctors for more scans the tumour has completely disappeared. Wouldn't that be proof? These miracles happen all the time.

It's funny you say there is no contradiction in the gospels. When your belief clearly contradicts the overall message of the collection of books compiled in the bible. Many times in the old testament it talks about Worship of one God whos name is Yahweh. The earth will never be destroyed. The earth will last forever. The righteous will inherit it. That God didn't create it simply for nothing. God does not make mistakes. Not to worship Tammuz or the Sun god or make for yourselves images for worship after any other god or after anything in the heavens above or in the sea beneath. Yet your belief in the Trinity comes from the original worship of the Sun god but was only implemented in your faith around the 4th century from the Roman Catholic Church. The majority of people who say they believe in it don't even know the actual Dogma doctrine and will change the meanings to fit when there are any contradictions. It is just a bunch of mystery of great confusions like the Mother of the Harlots who sits on the beast in Rev. On multiple occasions Jesus mentions his Father in heaven, says his Father is greater than he is, says we can't come to the Father except through him. But all of your beliefs call Jesus the Father instead of Jesus actually being the Son of the Most High God. Just like Jesus said when he was a man here on earth, many will call on his name and do great things in his name but he will proclaim he doesn't know you get away you workers of lawlessness because the first law is have no other gods before him and to Love Jehovah your God with your whole heart. And now everyone is going to Heaven. I didn't know anyone besides the apostles ate and drank the wine those who have the calling from the spirit to be adopted as sons and daughters to reign in the Kingdom with Jesus before he subjects everything back to his Father 1Corinth chapter15. We know that most of the apostles were uneducated fishermen yet when God's Spririt was poured out they amazed everyone with their oratories and their writings and God's miracles happened through them. They gained wisdom and understanding that amazed people who knew them. Etc.
If you want the evidence you can read the Bible. Study it. Look for teachers who point out what you don't grasp at first.
Then read it again.
The more you learn about what their culture and society was, the more you can understand why the witnesses were amazed. The value of their witness becomes realized.

Good discussion, Cliffe asks us not to put our faith in Jesus blindly, that's very good advice, we shouldn't believe something because we're raised to believe it. Cliffe says to read the gospels of Matthew Mark Luke and John, and to study the evidence, I think a lot of the students have done that, and they've come to the conclusion that the evidence isn't strong concerning things like the miracles. If you do believe it, that's all well and good, but there's a growing number of people, esp young people who don't believe in the supernatural. The more we learn about life on this planet, the more we understand that there is a natural explanation for things which people living a long time ago attributed to Gods.

@@jessebryant9233 that's sort of what I was going to say Mariner simplistic level Tom everything takes Faith marriage a relationship with your family trust in yourself and understanding what you need to do for yourself so forth they'll take face a can of me stabbed in the back tomorrow by your best friend likes to say and I mean that in a literally or figuratively way. It takes more faith to believe in evolution and the properties of evolution and coming from nothing than it does to believe in God who made us and there are many reasons I can back it up but the fact is even if I just use science to back it up in order to have the laws of physics and all the other laws that have been discussed if you don't have God put them forth to create them they don't exist and when you don't have anything you can't get something from nothing I stated that over and over again Tom I don't know why that doesn't sink in probably because you don't want it to.

I don't, as you claim put my faith in abiogenesis, or mindlessly embrace the big bang theory, those are things which are well beyond my scope of understanding. I don't know, or even claim to know how or why life started.. I don't think science has worked that out yet. But we ( mankind) do seem to have a much greater understanding of life than we did, lets say 2000 years ago. Surely you would agree with that. I'm not appealing to majority consensus Jesse, most people on the planet have a belief in God don't they, so, does that mean that you are appealing to majority consensus?, I'd never accuse you of that, we believe the things we do for lots of personal reasons. One of the main reasons I lost my faith was because the story of Jesus contained magical occurrences and it dawned over time that, magical occurrences here on this planet do not occur in the sense that everything in life obeys the laws of physics, eg: people cannot walk on water, cannot float up into the clouds, cannot turn water into wine etc. As I said, Cliffe asks us to read the Gospels for evidence, there is no good evidence that I can see that any of those things actually occurred. What is the good evidence as you see it Jesse? To me, they are just claims.
@@godislove363 I think there are different types of faith though Jacob, I have good faith my car will start when I turn on the ignition, good faith that the Sun will rise in the morning, good faith that when I turn my tap on, that water will come out, etc etc.. I don't have good faith that a supernatural overseer is looking down upon us and that he listens to our prayers, or that his son came down to planet earth to pay for all our sins. I do listen to you Jacob, it's just that I don't agree with the things you believe in or have faith in. You are absolutely free to believe them. If belief in a God helps you in any way, that's all good with me.
