    Just came across your channel and am really impressed with your ability to figure things out. There are a lot of these older skidsteers out there that need TLC and in this case... major repair. Your providing a huge service with your detailed videos to those of us to at least try and work on our own machines. Thanks

    Thanks for this video. I just learned how my brakes work, or don't work, from your explanation. I had my 533 (early 80s model?) at the car mechanic this past week, and he got my electrical working again (after a winter of down time), but he had no idea how the braking system worked. I've just ordered those brass 'bushings' from allskidsteer, so maybe when they come in I can do something. First I'll try to adjust the arm, as you showed. Thanks again, from Japan.

    Thanks for the great videos on the 743.i have one that needs some tlc and was feeling a little intimidated thinking of getting into the chain /gear box. This helped alot . I started feeling a thump thump thump as im driving. Thought it was a chain jumping teeth but now i think could be a bearing. Nothing to it but to do it.

      Thank you Mike! Your last sentence says it all. You can do it for sure! I did tell another viewer, if I did it again, I'm going with original bobcat wheel seals. Mine aren't leaking, but were loose going in. Hoping the speaker I used last a while. Still going strong.

    Awesome videos! I bought a used Bobcat 753 this month and your videos are a God send or a You send depending on how one looks at it. My entire machine seems to be welded together! It was owned by a lumber Co. but I think it may have actually been a logging mill because it's been used pretty hard. Anyhow it's been a fiasco trying to find honest work done on tractors where I live so I'm grateful for you putting videos like this together and sharing them with the world. Thank you

    Awesome job, you got lucky with the hydraulic leak for sure! Can’t wait to see more of this skidsteer, I bought a GEHL 4840 skidsteer awhile back that had been in a fire, got it dirt cheap and fixed it all up on my TH-cam channel then ended up trading it for a $14,000 cummins pickup truck that I have had now for the passed year and it’s been a fantastic work truck for me.. I really made out good as I only had $3,500 into the skidsteer after repairing it before I traded it for my cummins pickup 👍🏻

    Great work!!! I wish now I had waited to do my 843 as you had some good ideas to tackle the job I spent last summer pulling mine apart. Honestly I had to replace every bearing on axles and do both reduction boxes. yours looks so clean on the inside. mine not so much . Getting those rear axles back in still hurts . I had searched high and low for some info, but had to figure it out as I went. some advice I would give is to really load up on the grease for the outer wheel bearings. Can't hurt. Have about 25 hours on her now no leaks. The bearings where so gone it took out 2 gears just amazing how some can run a machine so long with no maintenance. My fault for not looking deeper into how much work is needed when seller says it just need a few bearing lol again excellent work ..

      Steve, you are spot on!! I had no idea the previous owner band aided every issue!! The oil in the chaincase was pretty muddy with water mixed in, but with a bunch of towels and brake cleaner, I got it done. Part 4 is coming up, had to replace a few hoses, completely renewed fuel system, and filters. I have also a grapple build and pallet fork build videoed, need to edit and upload. Thanks for the nice comment.

      @@StevesBeyondRepair The chaincase was actually dangerous. The medal pieces/shavings where in every possible place. I pulled a few pieces out if me by the time it was clean. My parts drivers where taking bets if I would get it back moving again lol.... It turned into a full blown mission... Still have to paint and finish up a few adjustments.

    Your making that race puller hard. Weld a bolt along side your bar with the head of the bolt towards the end your pulling from. Slide the whole bar and let the bolt hit the race, it will come out.

    • @StevesBeyondRepair
      @StevesBeyondRepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. It worked, but it could have been better for sure!! And really, knocking it out with the long bar from the opposite side was the easiest. The slide on it was not heavy enough, but fun building anyway! Thanks for watching and commenting!!

    I’m on my second old Skidsteer, the mechanics who built these all went to dummy tech… every bit of the way on repairing these I just want to redesign. There should be easy access to all areas of repair. The sad part is I just don’t have the time to repair, it’s for working not constantly fixing… the other down side is who can afford a new one?

  • @Lou1ouze

    Hey thanks for the detailed video ! I've bought a 743 and every part of it need attention. I was checking the chaine case and discovered it close to empty. I decided to put back new oil and now i discovered I have all the four seals leaking !! Was it hard to remove the second access cover ? Some say you have to remove the pump to do the job ! Thanks !

    • @StevesBeyondRepair
      @StevesBeyondRepair  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! That second plate can be taken off without pump removal. Now, getting to the rear gears would have been way easier with pump out of the way, but it was doable. Need a ratchet wrench like I used. Also, if I did it over, that first side I made the contraption to hold gear in place with chain, I would have taken chain apart like i did the other side! I also would have bought bobcat brand seals for the wheels. Good luck, it's a great machine, and any questions if i can help, I'd be happy to.

    Hello, I need help with my Bobcat 743. My auxiliary hydraulic lever is stuck. and I don't know how to release it.

    • @StevesBeyondRepair
      @StevesBeyondRepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say look closely at my video where I talk about how that part of the right lever works. Most of the time they put a bolt in a certain place that keeps the right lever from moving side to side. Could be the valve under the seat that this lever moves when you go side to side, is stuck.

  • @zlatanzifovskijr4576

    Hey Steve just finished painting mine just curious does your ever make a ticking noise sometimes near your feet by the chain case? And also mine makes a squealing noise when I lift the boom and tilt the bucket?

    • @StevesBeyondRepair
      @StevesBeyondRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Zlatan, I have not heard any ticking at all coming from the chain case area. I completely rebuilt the chain case, so it is all tight. Now the noise/squeal you are hearing when moving boom and tilt is coming from pump or spool valve for the front hydraulics. the pump is bolted directly to the main case pump under seat. it is solely responsible for lift arms, bucket curl and aux hydraulics(if yours has that). could be the pump, but more likely the noise is coming from a pressure relief valve in the Port Block Valve that is releasing pressure unnecessarily. it is the component that is just in front of the spool valve. it has the big fat main oil supply hose from the front pump attached to it.

      Hey Steve I will check that I might also think that there might be some air left in those hoses since I took the from cylinder off and replaced a couple of steel lines in the engine compartment I might have to run it more to relief air out thanks for the advice

      @zlatanzifovskijr4576 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm going to have to do bearings and chains. To start with. Car accident has sort of changed my time estimates. Who did you source your parts from? Bobcat is pricey, and Timken is now Chinese like everyone else. What did your research find.

    • @StevesBeyondRepair
      @StevesBeyondRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got them from Rock auto. They were waaaay cheaper than everyone else. Thinking the timkens were Japan... China steel is crappy for sure. Japanese is much better. The seals were off of Amazon. I sized out the originals and came up with a national number. The timken and national numbers for the 743 were found once bobcat forum. Wish I had included numbers for those in the video, I usually do. 👍👍
