1978 I had that exact bike bought brand new £800 over 3 years. Unbelievable 0-60 pace if you could keep the front end down! Was never shown up by much bigger bikes unless on motorway into a headwind.
I bought one of these "Brand New" back in April 1979 but mine was a blue colour which I preferred. Like you say, it was fast, but the front brake squealed when applied. And, after only around a 1000 miles, the engine developed piston slap. I had previously owned a CB250T Dream, which seemed sophisticated compared to the much smaller, and lighter X7. I only kept the X7 for around 6 months in search for another Honda Dream, but by then they had brought out the 250 SuperDream, so I bought one in red. Lovely bike, felt like a big bike, compared to the X7. If speed is your thing buy an X7. But for me, I would rather have the Honda any day.
I had one of these brand new from the showroom in 1979. I think it went for about £750 retail. Had three over the years before passing my test and getting my Z1000-H Fastest 250 available until the Yamaha RD 250 came out. Really easy to work on. I tuned the nuts out of it. Boysen Reeds, K&Ns, Micron expansion pipes, and some judicious porting as per a magazine article I was following (Motorcycle Mechanics, I think). A real wheelie popper (often by accident). On reflection, If I could be transported back in time, I'd have had the GT250 Ram Air - I just like the look better.
btw its lovely about the wife, i had the x5 because i was and still am poor, but i had and still have the same wife, she might try but niether of us could head down to canvey again on one, too bloody cold and noisy plus we both have bad knees necks arms backs wrists and other things i cant remember as my memory is also buggered, god I wish it was 81 again
The reason I've looked at this vid is I saw one of these today,it passed me in the opposite direction, unfortunately I had car windows closed so I didn't have the pleasure of listening to it.
how do you get a matching set of keys / locks currently i have same key for ignition and steering lock but petrol cap and seat is different key. would love it to be all the same
Microns , KnN filters, 110 main jets , used to have the barrels off every w/end polish the exhaust ports , flying machine, wouldn't be so quick with me on it now I'm 5stone heavier 🤣
Such a white Suzuki GT250 X7 was my first bike in the early 80th. Still like it!
Thanks buddy for watching my video, glad it bought back memories

I'm no expert, but with the attention to detail, that gem looks Concours.😍

Waw 1,seriously perfect X7 Friend Super well Sorted poss best I've seen top marks 🎉

Looks immaculate..."little screamer" being a very apt description. So much better than 4-strokes (in my opinion).
Love the 2 strokes 😍

Are you anything to do with Maurice Menghini?
Yes, he's my twin brother
Say hello to him for me, I used to work with him in the Department of Employment
How can I own one like it, knowing that it is available in my country but its price is expensive, so I want to import it to my country at a low price?
اخوي هل لقيت موقع يستورد جواتي أنا مثلك ادور

Better than an RD….?? I’m on the fence as I’ve had both… but if I had to choose one….. it would be the RD for me… only just….
Hard decisions eh! I love both buy a good X7 is the one I think, mainly because I had a brand new one in 1977 and it was epic!

Fine example, shame that in a couple of years - they'll probably put you in prison riding it. 😢😢😢.
