Excellent, my first ever bike was a ram air version in August 1975 - me and my best mate bought one each at the same time…how we survived is a mystery 🤣. Owned it for 18 months…just checked it’s MOT status and it never made it to the first one!
I bought the ram air model in 1976 for £500.00, it was a blast for a while until I blew the crankshaft seal and the plugs started to oil up, the oil tank ran low without me noticing : (
Had one of these in the 90s. It was a 70s model with super six gears and ram-air cover. The ram-air cover made it run too hot in my opinion so I removed it. The 6th gear made a very rare appearance out on the highway. 6th gear would have more than likely have oiled up the plugs. I always kept it in 5th on open roads as it ran happiest. Appart from that what a cracking roundabout it was for me the X7 way back then 👍. Great video chears 😉.
Hi, thanks for your comment . I did the thread repair the other day. It worked very well . Didn’t even have to remove the bracket from the bike because the post is quite long. Bike now has 2 rear view mirrors. I’m a happy chappie !
Well done . Will make a great bike when finished. I had the X5 200cc from new . Swapped it after six months for a Honda 4 stroke twin . I could not get used to the narrow power band of the Suzuki and the constant need for gear changes to kerp it on song. Great video . Really enjoyed watching it .
I had a GT250B, so this takes me right back to my late teen age years. You may already know, the handlebars are wrong, as is the rear light, the B model had a square back light as standard, but many people fitted the earlier twin round light from the earlier models. Great vid, and as soon as you kick started it, the memories came flooding back, thanks for posting it. Where abouts are you, i may see you out and about on it?.
Hello Neil, thanks for your comment. According to the frame and engine numbers my bike is a GT250A. It has been messed about with over its long life but I am trying to get it back to original spec as much as I can. I now have a correct seat fitted and a colour coded right hand side cover, and of corse the rear light. I need to get another video posted with my progress on this bike but have been busy working on mopeds! won't be long though I hope. Good to hear that the sound of it bought back memories to you, it did the same for me. Take care Mickey
@@MadMickey58 I don`t know where you are, but this coming Sunday (5th May) there`s an autojumble on at the Sammy Miller museum at Bashley Manor in the New Forest, maybe they`ll have a twin round style there?.
@@neillambton4065 Thanks for the heads up Neil. I am miles away in Northamptonshire! If you mean the dog bone rear light, I have already got one. Cheers Mickey
I drilled out my lever perches and they now have time carts in them. Now the mirrors will never have problems screwing in and out ever again. They are steel thread inserts.
Congrats on everything 👏. Personally I quite like the seat without a trim. One question..did you balance the carburetor slides before fitting the rubber boot/airbox?
Hi there, the answer is no. Just wanted to hear her running at the moment. I will get the ignition checked and the baffles out and cleaned then start on the carbs. I’ve just been reading up in my trusty Haynes manual about synchronising the throttle slides, so it’s on the list😊. Thanks for your comments 👍
Best way to clean the silencers out is to use oxy-acetylene up the pipe to get it burning then oxygen only it smokes very badly and you need to keep a hose on the outside or the chrome goes yellow and blue.
please help me get caburettor type of this model.please i have this bike with completely removed caburrettor and its hard to get here in Africa.kindly reply!
I had several Suzuki two stroke twins and triples. I always thought the choke levers were a bit daft on the twins - either off or full on ! By the way fella, BP and Texaco E5 has no ethanol whatsoever, even though the pumps declare it's E5. I think they'd fall foul of the law if they labelled it E0. Big brother arse crawling necessity, I'm sorry to say.
@@MadMickey58A lot of people used to be puzzled by this fuel tap. It says "on" and "res" so surely "pri" must be off??? Actually it is the only position that is NOT off with the engine stopped. Also don't interchange the rubber tube from the diaphragm to one of the inlet ports with one of the ones from the tap outlet to the carbs. I once repaired a GT380 (that also has this automatic petrol tap) on which one of the pistons was broken into several pieces by this mistake. The owner was lucky, only the piston was damaged so the repair didn't cost much or take very long. Your engine sounds good. The carbs are not badly out of balance but it is still worth checking.
@@cedriclynch Thanks for your comments 👍This was a few months ago, since then I have done another video on this bike. I set up the carbs and sorted out the r/h exhaust baffles. Also understand the workings of these fuel taps. Thanks for watching 😃
awesome stuff i had a t 250 hustler back in the 70s went like a bat out of hell cheers
coming along nicely 👍I could almost smell that 2 stroke when you started her up .
I definitely smelt it and it was lovely 😂

You have to put cable ties though the top lugs and frame so you cant take 'em off without the seat up.

I'm wondering if this GT exhaust would fit on a GP 125??
use a modern gel battery.

I watched your vid hoping you would show how to take side casing off oil side ? I've looked at mine and cannot fathom it out ! Can you help plzings
I have now taken off the left hand side casing looking for my oil leak. It will be on my next video. Is the left side that you are referring to?
Its the right side Mike oil side
@@user-qu1iv5ro5l Not had any need to remove the right side mate. I will have a look though. Cant be that difficult !

I sussed it 2 alan boĺts under seat .now she is ready to sell
Do not leave the fuel tap on prime you will fill the engine with fuel ask me how I know, that was bloody expensive.
Thanks for the heads up John. I have been hearing some bad stories about just this subject ! 👍
