My brick wall is P3 and P4 all bindings. The other day, I was using a mod to show boss hp, and I came so frustratingly close to beating Grey Prince Zote for the first time in the pantheon...I know that Uumuu, hornet sentinel and sly won't be a problem at all even all bindings, but I just can't reach it...! And for pantheon 4, Pure Vessel is the issue: it takes so long to reach them, only to die in two hits. Funnily enought, I first tried pantheon 1&2 all bindings, so I really didn't expect that after 50+ tries the other pantheons would remain undefeated.
@@legrandliseurtri7495 Buddy keep going. P3AB is absolutely harder than P4 because of HOW FUCKING BULLSHIT Zote is when you do that low damage and have no health. I also ended up beating it with a boss HP bar which technically didn't help me out in any way but it did psychologically knowing I'm so close. It took me like 20+, probably more attempts and almost every single one would end at Gay Prince Zote. The very first time I beat him I beat the pantheon with all bindings. Played it so incredibly safe. I think it took me like 18 minutes total.
Nah, it also does the most damage on small windows out of all the nail arts. Take, for example, the moment when the false knight falls down and he uses cyclone to hit him as he stands up. If it was for the soul, he could just charge a strong slash and do normal slashes on the jump as the knight lifts himself automatically, or skip nail arts entirely. and just keep slashing. But he wants to do damage on the window and cyclone ends up doing the most.
Fastest nail art damage + soul generation without quick slash, but also the riskiest nail art to use. But I suppose if he's practiced the fights that much to take the challenge on, he knows where his opportunities are.

Since he uses so much nail arts (at least in my opinion its a lot, i barely remember they are a thing) the fight with sly feels just good, like actually showing him he MASTERED the arts
You can clearly see his confidence, he seems to know exactly where the enemies are going to be. And at 13:54 and 32:21 he's just straight up showing off. 34:14 video length explained. Everyone can go home. Mad respect at the Markoth and Zote parts. As someone who hasn't even beaten Pure Vessel yet (had to stay away from my console for a while and forgot how to play the game by the time I got back) I must wonder how many souls this dude sold to the devil to be able to do this.
I was 50/50 about this ever being done. The difficulty jump between p5 and p5ab is colossal, and so is the jump from p5ab to r5. Doing ANY pantheon hitless requires such a good mastery of everything in it, my mind is blown that someone could be that good at p5ab. Like, yha, he can do it in 35 minutes in speedruns, but still this was just outrageous.
I was surprised during the Absolute Radiance fight when he sometimes used a Great Slash just to hang in the air and avoid oncoming swords. It makes sense, as you do see people do that with spells, but I wasn't expecting it at all.
Might have wanted to stay where he was, rather than move forward. Either for damage dealing reasons, or because something just as dangerous was in the location where the dash would have ended.
Remto、 also hold the record of speedrunning P5 AB(1.432+). So he must have done lots of P5 AB runs and he knows when to be aggressive and when to slow down. Really a nice run.
As someone who couldnt bother to even finish pantheon 3 I am absolutely mind blown by the way Remto demolished this run! Congrats and thanks Fire for all the fun content!
Im halfway through the video and godamn, this is just insane! This guy basically mastered every spell, nail hit and shadow dash timing... He has to think so fast about which spell to use and when, simply.. wow.
Hey Fire - I don't know if anyone's mentioned it to you yet or if you'll see this comment, but the waits in Pure Vessel are specifically to allow Shade Cloak to recharge so he'll always have it up. It's necessary for endurance PV fights - which I'd classify this as, even if it's not pure endurance like my specialty, because of how long he's spent tiring himself out on other bosses - and you see the value of that panic button when he has to dash through the triple slash later in the fight. It's just safety.
i feel like this is something that should've happened already given how long the godhome dlc has been out but forget how difficult p5 is, and then hitless, *and then* with all bindings, pretty easy to not realise how amazing this feat really is
The second oblobble phase was actually easier for me during my first playthrough because I did this before watcher knights so this was my first time dealing with multiple bosses
I hope TeamCherry is waiting for all possible insane challenges in hollow knight to be realized just to anounce something related to silksong. could this be it?
I struggled for Pantheon 1 and I barely did it. I was proud of myself until I saw this run! That's so impressive I don't think I could make it someday...
When I saw that Remto was able to get soul off of the Zote adds, I had the stupidest thought for a second: "Hmm, that's really convenient. Maybe P5 with the nail binding is a better or easier strategy than without it?" Then I came to my senses and felt very embarrassed.
45:15 little wait there looks like it was for shade cloak to refresh, I do same on pv incase of accidental parry trigger when pv stands. Small precaution
This is truly incredible, I'm really feeling touched only by watching the record. Now I believe that literally INFINITE potential is locked in the hk community.
"Cyclone slash does a lot of damage" THANK YOU CHINESE STREAMER! I never unequipped the blademaster's charm and for this exact reason. Obviously, you don't need to know this if you cna rely on spells a lot, but I am not a speedrunner, and spell opportunities and abusing s isn't my nature, soforever I have endured scoffing by the community. But here we see what the game looks like when you are limited back down for options.
this was extremely satisfying to watch, as i use a lot of narts and realised that a lot of hk players don't seem to try them out at all the constant use of nail arts and the awareness of when its safe to use cyclone slash, as well as knowing when you have enough time to use them, change this game completely imo, the cyclone slashes used on soul warrior for example were completely safe, you don't feel like a sitting duck if you just use it enough and master it(im not that good at this game but i managed to learn it rather quickly) now i wanna say some of the things I've learned and reasons why narts are underrated -great slash and cyclone slash deal the same damage(or more i forgot) as 2 strength slashes, while only needing one hit -2 cyclone slash hits deal the same damage as great and dash slash, while giving you double the soul -5 cyclone slash hits deal morr damage than 4 abyss shriek hits with shaman's stone -every cyclone slash hit gives you the same amount of soul as any normal hit, so its insane for soul generation -you need 0 charm notches to use nail arts and only 1 to give them an unfairly fast charge up time, that allows you to spam nail arts on almost every fight in the game, this is not risky at all if you have enough game awareness, like Remto i wanna show my usual charm build, that has soul eater, shaman's stone and nailmaster's glory, with 3 notches left i usually go for quick focus because neither quick slash or unbreakable strength are useful when you get so much opportunity to use nail arts and again, nail arts are basically just more effective damage if you're not pairing quick slash and strength -a lot of fights have spots where you can only get one hit on a boss, most of those spots can be covered by great slash to just deal more damage with no drawback -some you can only get 2, on a lot of those you can c-slash and get the same damage but double the soul, but in most of those situations you can get 3 or 4 hits which just gives you so much more damage and soul than quick slash and strength for example when a mantis lord does its projectile attack, or when troupe master grimn does the spike floor, when pure vessel does its spike floor attack overall im not saying that narts are better than qslash and strength combined, but that they are still useful even when those charms are in play, and that they may even be better without them i wish nail arts were talked about more often, because people don't seem to experiment with them a lot and this gem is just hidden from everyone

But as for the original comment, idk why it was phrased as if there's some material reward you'd get out of being good at this game.
I’ve been integrating much of Remto’s strategy into my own (because it is so much better). The more moves of his I learn, the more I admire his skill as a player. For example I tried to copy his moves in the soul master fight and it’s hard but I got it together. I love the way his moves collect enough soul for the next spell and said spell is also in a place that is likely to double hit the boss. The moves seamlessly flow when done right. Respect ✨
45:13 the wait was Remto waiting for his shade cloak to recharge in case Pure Vessel went for a hard to dodge attack. Also, 50:24 an orb was spawning right on his character, but it got deactivated when he got the final blow in. He almost lost the hitless run on the LAST HIT
Honestly this might have impressed me just as much as if not more than the best P5 speedruns, the way he plays so smart, knows every fight so well, and acts so confidently like he's a TAS is so impressive.
It was really interesting to see the absrad fight. I saw a lot of plays similar to what I, as a casual player, do. There were also a lot of really interesting plays as well that seemed really calculated. This absrad fight seemed much closer to a casual absrad fight than the speedrun variant, which seems counterintuitive and is quite interesting.
It's the inability to chain spellls making the biggest difference, and wanting to save the one when important. Casual players generally don't use spells as well as a content producer, or try to conserve soul they have for healing and dives. It is absolutely making a big difference in what approaches are viable, and thus, becomes the closest to that conservative style. It's the same reason why he uses the strong slash for air time (seen best against horizontal AbsRad blades), where most speedrunners are used to default with vengeful spirit. But it's not the only one. Short Nail and default attack speed makes this Sly fight the closest to a casual one. Since most people panic from his attack's range and speed, and can't find soul back, responding to Sly with your own Nail Arts is frequently the bread and butter of how the fight goes, as it compensates for that range. Here, of course, the master is doing dash slash into regular slash into vengeful, because he knows the fight inside out, but its clear the fundamentals spawned from the same "How can I deal the most damage possible, on no soul, in the exceptionally small windows I'm given?".
NKG is pretty easy once you get used to him, I can't say the same about ascended Markoth and Absolute Radiance, they can still be pretty hard even after more than 100 tries because their insane RNG.
Its always nice and relaxing to watch you commented anything hollow knight. With this kind of community, I am actually surprised that there is no holllow knight esport related event. It seems that there is still so much potential even 5 years after its release. Maybe you can initiate, an esport run and commentate by you will surely draw huge audience.
The first time i got cyclone slash i looked up the wiki and realised that, if you dont have strength and quick slash, a full cyclone does about 8 nail hits' worth of damage. Since then I've been abusing it so hard on bosses that have windows to use it on. So if you wanna save 6 notches for other charms and still get mad nail damage in, just put nailmaster's glory on, and become the killing machine you always wanted to be
I like it because it leaves you with the option to still do a strong spell build. In my last playthrough I got a strong appreciation for shaman stone + spell twister + sprintmaster + grubsong + weaversong + nailmaster's glory (with 1 charm slot left over for preference). The soul generation is absolutely insane, and it gives you room to add the most overpowered boss killing charm, wayward compass. (For real though, I usually added steady body into the mix)
when a base game challenge proves to be harder than a modded boss designed to be impossible. Also, even though I am well versed in the ways of hollow knight, I appreciate the tidbits of "late-game knowledge" that some of the normies might not have known :)
Dude I thought he got hit on soul master like two separate times got damn. I would have died inside if I had to get out of that kind of situation, kudos to homie for keeping cool. also kudos for, y’know, doing the hardest challenge the game has to offer. that too.
It's hard enough just completing P5 all-binds at all - I took 48 hits, could maybe push it to sub-30 hits. But Remto's run is also twice is fast as mine, with so many risky speed strats! I had expected that a hitless run might be possible for an insane player; not surprised it turned out to be the WR speedrunner of P5 all-binds!

Some people refer to hitless pantheon 5 all bidnings as r5ab (so if you see that in the comment section, you now know what it means). Decently common term used on the hk discord
thanks for the explanations
02:01 Cyclone Slash does 1.25x your actual nail damage per hit, so if you land all the hits, the amount of total damage it's like 7,5x the base nail damage, considering that the base damage is 13, 97 damage, that's more damage than base Abyss Shriek, and Soul free
(Edit: typo correction)
It would actually be 96 I believe cause instead of multiplying 7.5 x 13, it would be 1.25 x 13 rounded, which would be 16, x 6, which would be 96. You need to round before you multiply.
Nail arts are not affected by strength, so on a charmless run it’s actually a saved glory

Thank you for sharing fire! It was really fun to watch
I think the little wait he does in the Pure Vessel fight is to wait for his shade cloak to refresh, just in case his next hit triggers a parry.

@@legrandliseurtri7495 P3 with just charm bindings was already hard AF to beat for me and I can't do the same for P4 atm.

I think the reason he used cyclone slash so much is because each hit gave soul and it was the fastest way for him to max out his soul constantly
But I suppose if he's practiced the fights that much to take the challenge on, he knows where his opportunities are.
if you get good at using it, cyclone slash is quite safe in a lot of situations, Remto never used it when it was risky

It makes sense, as you do see people do that with spells, but I wasn't expecting it at all.
why don't he just dash through it?
Might have wanted to stay where he was, rather than move forward. Either for damage dealing reasons, or because something just as dangerous was in the location where the dash would have ended.
I like doing that because I never let the attack button go in that battle
Remto、 also hold the record of speedrunning P5 AB(1.432+). So he must have done lots of P5 AB runs and he knows when to be aggressive and when to slow down. Really a nice run.
As someone who couldnt bother to even finish pantheon 3 I am absolutely mind blown by the way Remto demolished this run! Congrats and thanks Fire for all the fun content!
The pinging noise is just his steel balls clinging into each other.
The no eyes fight had me screaming in terror.
Here I am struggling to get past The Collector with all bindings and here's this guy making it look like another day at the park. Absolute skill.

The second oblobble phase was actually easier for me during my first playthrough because I did this before watcher knights so this was my first time dealing with multiple bosses
He probably wanted to cyclone slash and didn't want to deal with desynced oblobbles
I just finished NKG and Path of Pain and was feeling quite proud of myself.
This humbled me QUICK 😂
I just realised, Pure Vessel doesn't scream because it has "No voice to cry suffering". But normal Hollow Knight does scream. Cool little detail
If I recall correctly, that's the Radiance scream. Broken Vessel/Lost Kin does the exact same scream as well.
Holy shit it was so obvious and I never saw it
6:35 the music timing up with the dive is just straight up very pleasant editing 👍
Maybe P5 with the nail binding is a better or easier strategy than without it?" Then I came to my senses and felt very embarrassed.
btw if you're confident at failed champion you can always tank zote and use the failed champ/false knight cheese to get full soul and health
There is something really funny about the Radiance's theme playing during elder hu's fight
45:15 little wait there looks like it was for shade cloak to refresh, I do same on pv incase of accidental parry trigger when pv stands. Small precaution
This is truly incredible, I'm really feeling touched only by watching the record. Now I believe that literally INFINITE potential is locked in the hk community.
i genuinely thought silksong would be out before r5ab was done. also finally someone appreciating how hard it is to shriek soul tyrant in phase 2
There is something satisfying about him using all the nail arts against Sly.
"Cyclone slash does a lot of damage"
THANK YOU CHINESE STREAMER!
Legend has it that Team Cherry was waiting for someone to truly master Hollow Knight before they would release Silksong. The day has finally arrived…
This is absolutely insane, congrats and huge respect to Remto!
this was extremely satisfying to watch, as i use a lot of narts and realised that a lot of hk players don't seem to try them out at all
the constant use of nail arts and the awareness of when its safe to use cyclone slash, as well as knowing when you have enough time to use them, change this game completely imo, the cyclone slashes used on soul warrior for example were completely safe, you don't feel like a sitting duck if you just use it enough and master it(im not that good at this game but i managed to learn it rather quickly)
now i wanna say some of the things I've learned and reasons why narts are underrated
-great slash and cyclone slash deal the same damage(or more i forgot) as 2 strength slashes, while only needing one hit
-2 cyclone slash hits deal the same damage as great and dash slash, while giving you double the soul
-5 cyclone slash hits deal morr damage than 4 abyss shriek hits with shaman's stone
-every cyclone slash hit gives you the same amount of soul as any normal hit, so its insane for soul generation
-you need 0 charm notches to use nail arts and only 1 to give them an unfairly fast charge up time, that allows you to spam nail arts on almost every fight in the game, this is not risky at all if you have enough game awareness, like Remto
i wanna show my usual charm build, that has soul eater, shaman's stone and nailmaster's glory, with 3 notches left i usually go for quick focus because neither quick slash or unbreakable strength are useful when you get so much opportunity to use nail arts
and again, nail arts are basically just more effective damage if you're not pairing quick slash and strength
-a lot of fights have spots where you can only get one hit on a boss, most of those spots can be covered by great slash to just deal more damage with no drawback
-some you can only get 2, on a lot of those you can c-slash and get the same damage but double the soul, but in most of those situations you can get 3 or 4 hits which just gives you so much more damage and soul than quick slash and strength
for example when a mantis lord does its projectile attack, or when troupe master grimn does the spike floor, when pure vessel does its spike floor attack
overall im not saying that narts are better than qslash and strength combined, but that they are still useful even when those charms are in play, and that they may even be better without them
i wish nail arts were talked about more often, because people don't seem to experiment with them a lot and this gem is just hidden from everyone

In what sense? For fun, then sure. But it's not like there's a competitive scene for hk
@@dppjirachi speedrunners would disagree, but I get your point 😛
@@phaolo6 that's more like a competition for fun at the end of the day. speedrunners generally speedrun cause they have the competitive spirit to find it fun to try and be better than others.
The fact that he can beat nkg with full bindings faster than I can with none...
Maybe you can initiate, an esport run and commentate by you will surely draw huge audience.
brings back all the P5 (no bindings non-hitless) feels of my own. But this is so much more than it.
Such skill. Enjoyable commentary. Great hour of my life spent, I regret nothing
Man, I'm short on words for this. I can't imagine the amount of time to make this happen. This is epic awesome.
when a base game challenge proves to be harder than a modded boss designed to be impossible.
Also, even though I am well versed in the ways of hollow knight, I appreciate the tidbits of "late-game knowledge" that some of the normies might not have known :)

also kudos for, y’know, doing the hardest challenge the game has to offer. that too.
This is potentially the most impressive gaming feat I have ever seen
It's hard enough just completing P5 all-binds at all - I took 48 hits, could maybe push it to sub-30 hits. But Remto's run is also twice is fast as mine, with so many risky speed strats! I had expected that a hitless run might be possible for an insane player; not surprised it turned out to be the WR speedrunner of P5 all-binds!
It's wild that this is about the same length as my first pantheon 5 victory
Same, Pantheon 5 was really really hard for me! Was expecting it after the last pantheons.
I'm pretty sure that in the pure vessel fight he waited for his shade cloak to recover before unstaggering them
Now that you mention it, it's pretty clear that's exactly what's happening. I didn't spot it myself.
Forget the any radiance wins, THIS feat is worthy of a museum exhibit someday!
Since i’m a casual gamer it’s funny how you say it’s so long because it’s actually the duration of how I beat the bosses xD
