I love all the little details in this mod, like how Ze’Mer’s girlfriend stands in the background as she fights you, or all the interactions between Ogrim and Isma It feels like the backgrounds of the fights show you either what the knights want the most, or care about the most. Ze’Mer has her love in a field of delicate flowers, Hegemol stands in the bustling city that he was seemingly tasked to defend, Isma had Ogrim, and Dryya had the White Lady who she died defending
And the fact that in ZeMer's fight, the traitor lords daughter eyes follow Ze'mer istead of the knight unlike in godhome where the god seekers study you. It's a nice detail showing how she cares for Ze'mer.
fits with white defender's background...he longs for his friends that have long since passed away (maybe, Hegemol's fate is unconfirmed its assumed the grub killed him...but at the same time, he might be one of the other characters considering he's fairly small) also would have been a fun addition if a godhome ze'mer didn't fight, but the traitor lord's daughter fought harnessing the essence of godhome to gain the powers her father gained through infection
I like how some of the attacks the five knights do are taken from Pure vessel. Dryya has a floor spear attack, Isma does a vine whip like PV’s void whip. It fleshes out the idea that the vessel learned from them.

yeah, when I first saw it I thought it was from team cherry so I think the team can really be proud of themselves for making such a beautiful and amazing mod. I'm a bit sad that I can't play it since I'm on switch but I've had a lot of fun watching everyone else play it and having so much fun. I really love being a part of the hollow knight community, it's always fun to see what great things the modding community has achieved over the years
I don't want to undermine this amazing effort and it's quality too, but that said i do think the bosses feel nothing like the normal game's. Each one's patterns feel off, a bit too fast, a bit unreactable or not satisfying to avoid. So i'm really more impressed with the dev team and their journey than what they actually ended up with

Compared to like the random full screen shockwave attacks either in the middle of Ze'mer's combos or in Hegemol fight where his attacks very quickly stack on each other, where they seriously clash with shade dash's pretty impactful cooldown. Not to mention actual healing windows. I don't think there is more than 1 or 2 max healing windows, and all of them are way too tight and scuffed. Nkg is a hard boss but despite that almost every attack has a healing window. Of course i'm not expecting fans to make something amazing and again in no way do i undermine their effort, but i just think their work here deserves a little bit more critisism

The best part of this, the creator acknowledged isma and ogrim, so they designed isma's move set to be strong by itself while also being complimentary to ogrim
I love the Pale Court but because of the difficulty I'll probably never get to play through it The art is so good in this tho, I love the plant attacks of Isma and the beautiful city background of Hegemol!
Imo my favorite bosses are Isma and Hegemol. They are just so cool. Hegemol with all the fake outs and like his quick attacks compared to his large stature. Then isma closing in the arena and making a tight bullet hell.

A fanmade expansion made for fans . It's really amazing how they managed to make it look like official dlc. The soundtrack, the bosses and the content we're all made perfectly , except Isma i hate her. The Devs really put a lot of work into this! Rip to all console players who can't play this..

They took like 5 hours for the whole video, which is crazy to me that they're that good, it took me like a full day to get to mystic zemer and I would consider myself relatively decent at the game

As someone who has completed pantheon 5, this looks like the difference in difficulty between false knight and pantheon 5 is about the same as the difference between pantheon 5 and this mod. Absolutely metal
My honest opinion is that actually these bosses are mostly like p4 difficulty, (they feel a little like grimm and pv that the main trouble is learning attacks but once you got it its fine) but mystic zemer is just like a little bit harder than abs rad. It's been a long time since I fought normal bosses though so idk
i do think that they require a bit more balancing. the strength differences between champions + effectiveness of attacks definitely feels a little off.
Actually I didn't find Isma that annoying radiant it was actually really fun but idk I prefer radiant markoth to like ten of the other bosses so I'm probably very wierd

Kind of a spoiler but when you beat the boss rush the knights have dialogue that implies you're playing the role of the Hollow Knight, and this is a dream recreation of the training it went through. So you kinda are the Pure Vessel in this

The common problem that plagues all these new bosses seems to be overly detailed and bright backgrounds that distract you from attacks or make them difficult to see.
Honestly the backgrounds didn't give me any trouble, I think Skurry's use of axe body spray was causing the problem. The _foreground_ on the other hand...
I love how this guy literally appreciated one of my favorite enemies in the game the flying century guys inside the city of tears and how they literally just say ROVAA
The best part. The detaIls of the bosses. Each one has parts and bits of the Pale knight's fighting style. it is a beautiful Expansion that is so well done.
Funny enough, I really loved the Isma fight but I couldn't stand the True Knight fight. Spideringling + Grubsong is really good against Isma since the spiders don't have much issue killing the plants and the soul refill is really helpful. I really like running Quick Focus + Shape of Unn. That combo is actually also really good against Grey Mourner since you can just outrun her while also healing (especially during the earlier phases). QF+Unn is also nice into Isma because the projectiles and mobs are pretty avoidable with only horizontal movements and Isma won't run you down, especially during the phase where she vine. But yeah, between those three, Isma was my favorite. She felt like she hit this really nice sweet spot where she was complicated enough to not be boring but not too complicated to be overwhelming. The fight just felt incredibly fair. Which those two things together are hard to make in a bullet-spam fight (especially so in something like Hollow Knight where the character lacks consistent ranged options). Like, almost all of the base-game enemy spam and bullet-spam fights just felt really boring. The only exception to that was Radiance (and potentially Absrad, I never fought her tho). I haven't seen the other bosses yet tho and I don't want to spoil myself.
This mod dud the one thing you'd never expect to see in the vanilla game: giving downwards dash an actual use Really impressive mod, I can't imagine how much effort must have gone into this
Hegemol is such a cool fight, taking an existing boss that doesn’t know how to fight at all, and giving it a completely different fighting style Edit: I love how in the Isma fight, Ogrim is spectating like the God Seeker does, and neither one pays attention to the vessel, they are entirely focused on the boss
Also I found from personal experience that you can cheese Dryya and Hegemol by hugging the wall charging crystal dash and never releasing it, they can never hit you there(except with very slow attacks that you can just release the dash to dodge) and the spiders slowly chip them down, only way I could ever beat Champion's Call lmao
I think the only thing I dislike about this mod so far is how Dryya and Zemer blend so well with the background. The attention to details is incredible though, and the movesets are amazing
Yeah it does take your s Your frames are supposed to last as long as you don't have control of the knight plus some. When I had that charm on, and only when, I would always get hit by whatever I dove directly onto. Frankly it's pretty balanced considering the damage and the fact that you can just not dive directly on a hitbox

It actually depends which you defeat first. If you defeat ogrim last, Isma catches him and jumps away with him. It's an amazing touch

Kind of a spoiler but when you beat the boss rush the knights have dialogue that implies you're playing the role of the Hollow Knight, and this is a dream recreation of the training it went through. So you kinda are the Pure Vessel in this

The common problem that plagues all these new bosses seems to be overly detailed and bright backgrounds that distract you from attacks or make them difficult to see.
Honestly the backgrounds didn't give me any trouble, I think Skurry's use of axe body spray was causing the problem.
The _foreground_ on the other hand...
I also read a thread where the sfx come a little bit after some attacks. So there's no real telegraph.
Its more with bosses awkwardly freezing and having inconsistent sprites
Dryaa fight is like what a Hornet 3 would be

Funny enough, I really loved the Isma fight but I couldn't stand the True Knight fight.
Spideringling + Grubsong is really good against Isma since the spiders don't have much issue killing the plants and the soul refill is really helpful. I really like running Quick Focus + Shape of Unn. That combo is actually also really good against Grey Mourner since you can just outrun her while also healing (especially during the earlier phases). QF+Unn is also nice into Isma because the projectiles and mobs are pretty avoidable with only horizontal movements and Isma won't run you down, especially during the phase where she vine. But yeah, between those three, Isma was my favorite. She felt like she hit this really nice sweet spot where she was complicated enough to not be boring but not too complicated to be overwhelming. The fight just felt incredibly fair. Which those two things together are hard to make in a bullet-spam fight (especially so in something like Hollow Knight where the character lacks consistent ranged options). Like, almost all of the base-game enemy spam and bullet-spam fights just felt really boring. The only exception to that was Radiance (and potentially Absrad, I never fought her tho).
I haven't seen the other bosses yet tho and I don't want to spoil myself.

Hegemol is such a cool fight, taking an existing boss that doesn’t know how to fight at all, and giving it a completely different fighting style
Edit: I love how in the Isma fight, Ogrim is spectating like the God Seeker does, and neither one pays attention to the vessel, they are entirely focused on the boss

skurry not using weaver+grubsong for isma is a wild choice to make that fight so much harder than it has to be
Also I found from personal experience that you can cheese Dryya and Hegemol by hugging the wall charging crystal dash and never releasing it, they can never hit you there(except with very slow attacks that you can just release the dash to dodge) and the spiders slowly chip them down, only way I could ever beat Champion's Call lmao

I watched the floorspike-dive in slow motion and it seems to me that the invincibility window is significantly shorter than that of d-dark.
I don't think so, the animation just lasts much longer so you still think you're invincible

Your frames are supposed to last as long as you don't have control of the knight plus some. When I had that charm on, and only when, I would always get hit by whatever I dove directly onto.
Frankly it's pretty balanced considering the damage and the fact that you can just not dive directly on a hitbox
@@laurawitch3099 Yes, I too found out while fighting: getting hit without understanding why and then watching back the footage. But indeed it's better like this, it just requires some little adaptations in positioning.

Since nobody seems to know (based off reading chat) that is the traitor’s child, the traitor Lord’s child who we deliver the flower to. Her story is that she fell in love with the grey mourner (Le’mer is her actual name I think) and she was killed for it, hence why she is know the grey mourner.
i love the design of all the new bosses. the VA behind them is amazing and matches hollowknight very well.
