    My style identity analysis method is a little different from the 3-word-method, I also don’t feel the need to limit it to just those 3; rather I like combining outer keywords/aesthetics with the inner adjectives to ensure you always feel like yourself no matter what elements of style you include in your looks - this video takes inspiration from the above but with my own spin.

    I also loved the outfit examples where you went "too far" in one of your style directions and how adding in another style word re-balanced it and created some interesting tension.

    New twist I hadn’t picked up on before-do my inner words match my outer style words? When I list my personality/inner world descriptors, I see a disconnect between those and what I’ve been thinking are my style words. Fascinating to ponder!

      For me, one of my main descriptors is "Casual". And words like undone, natural and effortless feel very connected with that. But it's an interesting discovery for sure! If there's a disconnect it doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong at all! In fact, contrasts are what makes this so fun and interesting to work with. E.g. let's say one of your outer words is "classic" but you're inner adjective are more like casual, natural, free... who says those can't be connected even if they're opposites? You'd just have to find materials and fits that feel less strict, more flowy and easy-going and pay attention to styling; roll up the sleeves and add casual contrasts like sneakers or basic t-shirts for example. Contrasts are powerful like that!

    I have nouns rather than adjectives, including “sea”. I spend a lot of time swimming or walking on the beach, so I need clothes which are practical for those activities. But in wider contexts I still like to wear blues, cool greens and lavender, silver jewellery for a bit of shimmer, light and floaty linen and cotton… you get the idea.

      I can relate to your words. As an older professional woman who works with younger people, my words are visible, engaging and confident. This usually translates into minimal, classic, and effortless.

    The episode “How to Dress” from Articles of Interest also covered this topic in a really helpful way.
    I took the Indyx style quiz, which helped me nail down those three descriptors that I had such a hard time defining for myself (relaxed, minimalist, bohemian). It was such an “Aha!” moment, and has definitely helped me decide what sorts of sewing projects to pursue.

    Oooo…I can so relate to your sweatshirt photo. I too would feel too casual in that especially if I were out of the house. I intentionally buy “causal” clothes now. I have 3 and they are all matching sets. Black mock neck, boxy top with wide leg pants, a olive green pull on pant with banded legs at ankle with matching lightweight jacket, and a neutral colored short sleeve boxy top with wide pants. They all look very intentional and polished causal is what I call it without making me feel sloppy. I am a classic, modern, casual. So I like things with a bit of a modern look like a boxy shirt or a cropped wide pant or a top with an angled hemline since I wear mostly solids and a few stripes. Great video … Audrey Coyne does great videos like this too. ❤😊 She’s another one of my favs on youtube

    Hi Signe! I have loved your channel for awhile now and have seen a lot of buzz about the style keywords method for awhile now. My biggest issue is that my style keywords change fairly drastically depending on if it is spring/summer or fall/winter. I haven’t yet seen any style influencers talk about this and I just wonder if having seasonal style words resonates with you or anyone else in the slow fashion space and if it’s still authentic to the spirit of the method…

  • @heidimeigs5192
    @heidimeigs5192 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Signe, you have most likely covered this before and I’ve just forgotten….it’s not a hard and fast rule that those “10 pieces everyone must have” are things that work for everyone. Some of these pieces will certainly help a lot of women build “their” wardrobe. For instance I do have a demon jacket, but not a moto jacket…..I have a navy linen dress, but not a LBD. I still wear straight leg jeans at 65, but don’t own any dressy trousers. It’s very hot and humid in the summer and early autumn where I live, so I wear a LOT of linen…button up shirts, casual tops, dresses, and pants. A lot of women do not like linen because it wrinkles. They may choose to have pure cotton and/or silk blouses. Some women find their style early in life and never change it. Some change and adapt to the different stages of their lives, frequently evolving their look. What you said about feeling comfortable and “like yourself” in certain clothes is absolutely the key. I’ve always had a strong sense of self so my style has remained fairly consistent throughout my so-far long life. Classic, simple and suited to my build…I’m still an inverted triangle….and very casual hippie/boho. This is who I am. It takes a lot of trial and error for others. You have a lovely way of explaining things and I’m sure that this has helped a lot of women clarify their thoughts regarding what they wear. Keep up your great work. 💖

    My wardrobe is rather eclectic. I have pieces that would fit your 3 key words. I also have pieces to fit Alyssa’s 3 key words. The common thread is material quality in fabric, leather, and accessories.
    I think I will stick to eclectic and eccentric. I don’t want to use effortless because ppl can tell I put effort into dressing. I don’t use elegant because my preference to mix dressy with casual. I feel the happiest when I wear something unique and unexpected. I can’t stand tee and jeans with sneakers. I know it is safe and comfy but I feel I take an easy way out.

    My personal style key words are:
    First of all I live in a tropical zone with lots of humidity .
    So for me I like:
    1.-Quality ( cotton, linen, or silk)
    2.-Comfortable clothes
    3.- Elegant ( as possible a dress and nice sandals can make me look dressed up.
    NO shorts and plastic sandals anymore 🙄🤣

    So wichtig, diese Art von Aufklärung! Danke! Ich bin mein Leben lang im roten Bereich, unter Druck, getrieben... fühlte mich immer falsch, beschämt und gestresst... Ich bin frühkindlich mehrfach traumatisiert und mit einem Narzissten aufgewachsen. Erst in den 40ern erkannte ich, dass ich traumatisiert bin. Ich arbeite nach und nach alles auf und warte gerade auf ne Reha. ich bin seit Jahrzehnten in einer Beziehung und erkenne erst jetzt, dass ich auch darin leider unbewusst ein Retrauma gefunden habe: ein emotional nicht verfügbarer Partner (ein guter, netter Mensch!) . Es hat sich so viel schon positiv verändert, mein Nervensystem ist deutlich regulierter, aber ich weiß nicht, wie ich mit diesem Partner weiterleben kann... Ich brauche emotionale Nähe...

    With the three words I have a problem: I am a romantic, it is clear. With a touch of natural or relaxed comfortable, a bit of classic and edgy. And no, I can't give up my edgy, it's part of me, my personality and my story. In my vision of the world, tattoos, leather bikers, leather pants and skirts, corsets, band shirts are not especially alternative, I have grown up with all of that. For me there is nothing more classic than the look of the groups of the 70s. Am I very rare? I have salvation? Can it happen that a style consultant does not make me give up my fourth element?
    Also specifically my edgy style is more feminine, influenced by my heartier romantic side.

    • @UseLess_dk
      @UseLess_dk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can have more style words than just 3! That's just a guideline - you are all the words you feel connected to and that's okay ❤ Some people benefit from having few words because too many make them feel confused and overwhelmed, but for others having too few might feel a little too restricted.

      To me it’s about finding peace with who you are at a given time or place in life. I’m aware that style changes over time as you age so this is an exercise that can be repeated. It might not work for everyone but it surely has helped me figure out who I am! It has provided me with direction and it truly has helped me steer clear of buying certain styles, items etc. that just wouldn’t feel right for me. Also, as I say in the video don’t feel like you have to limit yourself to just a few words. As human beings, we are incredibly complex and it’s about finding your own best way with the tool! With that, thanks for watching anyway 😄🙏🏻
