Great advice as usual. I would LOVE to see guests with different body types come on that you can style to show how these concepts work or can be tweaked for different shapes! ❤
As a new year's resolution, I've been taking pictures every time I need to get dressed to leave the house (work, socials, errands). 1) it helps to see what I'm wearing, how often, to where. 2) it has forced me to go for something "new" as in, I haven't worn these pieces together. 3) I can see how it looks. 4) I'm getting more creative with what I already own. It has been a great exercise to cut down my shopping and wear all that I own. Most of the time, I enjoy what I'm wearing.
I've done something similar this year, too! I uploaded pictures of my clothes to one of those wardrobe tracker apps (Acloset in my case), and I've been logging my outfits everyday. Doing so has really helped me realize what I'm wearing vs neglecting, and it's amazing to see what items gets the lowest cost per wear and why
@@grazsts3005 Sure! There are "wardrobe-tracking" apps that you can download (some are payed like Cladwell, others like Acloset are free) that can help you not only see all of the pieces you own in one place, but can also allow you to track daily outfits, see how many times you've worn a given item (the apps automatically calculate cost-per-wear, too!), see which pieces in your wardrobe are being worn less frequently, etc. Like I mentioned I use Acloset (I saw another TH-camr "with Wendy" organize her wardrobe with it), and the app has a function that allows you to take photos of your clothes, and then the app automatically removes the background. What you're left with is a "packshot" of your piece, and you repeat the process until you've uploaded all of your pieces into the app. Then you can log daily outfits by combining the pieces together, and you can also get some ideas on how to style certain pieces (via randomly generated outfits). It's a really useful tool. Like you, I was photographing my outfits for some time but found that I would forget to take a picture some days and that it was tough to identify trends and see just how much I was using certain items. These apps are also really useful in instances when you're contemplating buying a new piece; you can add the piece into the app, and then make outfits and see if the piece would be a good fit for your wardrobe. Hope this helps!

As I was packing for a holiday, I followed your advice about taking pics of my outfits. I tried on every outfit, complete with shoes and jewelry, and captured the look on my phone. This was incredibly helpful!! While I was on holiday I didnt need to waste any time trying on clothes. I just reached for my pre-planned outfits. I felt great about my looks during the entire holiday, looked good in all my photos, and received compliments!
Really love watching videos like this because it doesn’t just push you to buy more clothes - it’s educating you on how you can maximise your wardrobe and learn more about your personal style. Please keep them coming! ❤️
I was missing basics for layering & also had no budget for them. My mom took my list, found 3 perfect mock neck tops at thrift stores & 2 crew necks in all the neutrals. Why do they look so chic, is it the layering? I cannot believe I am loving brown, but glad it suits me & seems fresh somehow. You don't know these things until you try to stretch your wardrobe & do the work for yourself. Thanks Lydia!
I’m 54 and you would have thought that I would have got my style together by now!! But, I’m constantly developing my style to reflect this time of life and EVERY film you do brings a benefit …. So helpful and unbelievably levelling without being completely over the top with designer clothes and accessories which most of us can’t afford on tap. Well done Lydia. X
True, coz she works more on the mindset, proportions and not forcing a certain trend or style .. Very useful and timeless tips suiting all people with different styles and age groups ❤ she's really clever 👌🏻
I sussed my style aged 13. Made my own clothes with Paris Originals patterns. Pure class, even if I say so. Now age 70, still wear classics. I have a huge wardrobe/s. Use it all. Have matching everything. Acquired over a 60 year period. Still in style and happy to say I get constant compliments. Look after your wardrobe shoes/boots and scarves and jewelry. I will last forever.
I’m a 39 year old, and it is solely because of you that I finally understand fashion and styling! Thank you for putting it in a way that everyone can understand.❤
I can’t thank you enough for all of your content! 4 years ago I transitioned from a corporate job to a homeschooling stay at home mom. As you can imagine, I TOTALLY struggled making the wardrobe transition. Your videos have provided direction on how to build a wardrobe that works for my new lifestyle. Though I don’t have the budget like I used to for clothing, I’ve been able to slowly build something that works…all from your awesome advice!!! Thank you for keeping my style unique (leggings and hoodies are just not me) and timeless so I can get the most out of my pieces! You are the BEST ❤
Your understanding of fashion, craftsmanship, and fit is exquisite.Thank you for helping me realize it is the winter base layer that I’m missing in my combination. Comfort and feel is the first drivers of my outfit planning- sensory is a thing for me- I’ll change my clothes over and over if something doesn’t feel right- it’s too tight or too baggy, a bunching sock, sliding panties, itchy tag, or annoying bra strap; so I try to give myself a bit more time to dress, it’s a good investment for a feel good day 💃🏻 consider donating the ill fitting items to simplify
You'r right dressing is daunting. Never thought about it before but when it comes to dressing I am lazy, at times it can be exhausting. I left the house yesterday and thought oh Lydia would not approve of this. Instead of starting over, I went anyway. I do need to take time and try on my clothes and see what works. Great video. as always
Hey Lydia! What a helpful video this was. Thank you for the conversation regarding putting in the work and taking pictures of your outfits. I’ve done that in fitting rooms but I should do that when trying to put together outfits at home too. Growing up I was always told i dressed nice but I do find myself having difficulties putting together clean, effortless, comfortable looks which I like. I guess I never realized all of the behind the scenes effort that it takes.
Lydia, what an amazing video! I have been loving this more educational style content lately, especially with a focus on intentionality and mindfulness. Maybe once you do this exercise over the weekend if you get a chance, you could share some of your findings with us in a video? (i.e., what gaps you've identified, any regret purchases and why, etc) I'd also love some ideas on wearing flared trousers (I think you shared a dark blue flared jeans pair a few videos ago?)
Wow! Thank you so so much! I never thought that dress up is almost a science with its own rules tricks and so on. Didn’t even think about those things even though it’s actually so obvious and daily needed! Thank you for your work! You’re doing it great!!! ❤

Hi Lydia, I have recently started watching your videos & I am so so glad to finally see someone who isn't just trying to sell a billion different clothing items without giving an understanding of what works and why. I absolutely love your fashion philosophy, the way you carry yourself & your style. I have never felt so informed about fashion! I also love that a lot of your looks are very modest, as this is something important to me. Love you loads & keep going!!
This is a great video. And you are right that it is a daunting task. I have been watching channels that teach this kind of content and implementing changes for about 6 years and I am still very much a beginner. Your channel is very interesting, entertaining ad effective.
It is indeed one of your best because you've got it, in a nutshell, everything. But could you please do one about how to take pictures of the outfits or one's self in it? I struggle with that.
Totally agree: to learn styling rules the best place to go is Lydia's channel. I was only wondering if it's possible to categorize content more consistently here: Sometimes it's not easy to find the right piece, plus very often I feel like I need to watch similar-topic stuff, just to understand things better. And what is really amazing is that even Lydia's old videos are perfectly useful today. So, it would be really great if all the stuff was organized, this could also help us see things in perspective
Lydia, I wanted to thank you for your advice, because thanks to you, I bougie an oversized Black jacket / blazer from the Week-end, and I love it so much ! Without one of your recent videos, I would not have considered such a piece and I love it so much. I love this advice. Thank you so much for making this video. I have a running list of things I need to complete my fits. My biggest problem is having the extra cash to drop on those items when I finally find the perfect one. 💸💸
I wear thin merino thermals in winter is Aus. This makes all the difference. Long sleeved, short sleeved and legs. Dry quickly on machine wash or hand wash.
Hi Lydia, thank you so much for making yet again an educational video. I have been following your work since only few weeks but I feel so empowered. I did implement couple of styling tips and I am not going back. As a person with Hourglass body it's difficult to just copy paste outfits,. Your 'how' and 'why's always help me.
Yes I do get lazy with this part I find I get overwhelmed and the go back to the same old things. Then I end up on TH-cam watching your videos 😂but I have to say yours are the most helpful as well as this one 🥂
Currently discovering my colour palette and what suits me. I'm drawn to warm colours but I look better in cool! Huge wardrobe overhaul for me, thank you for all the tips x
There are cool shades of most warm colors, and warm shades of most cool ones. Try a salmon, coral, light lemon yellow, or spring green if you look best in cool tones but want more traditionally warm colors. I actually ended up learning about warm blues and cool oranges from a video on paint mixing using split triads (where you have warm and cool versions of red, yellow, and blue for a total of 6 colors and can make any color paint from them), but it's added so much to my understanding of color in everything!
Thanks Lydia. Your video is hitting Hong Kong! I am a true fan now and have been rewatching your past videos. "It's not about shopping, it's about maximizing your wardrobe!' So practical and not pushy. Please keep up the good work!
Dear Lydia, ive been following you now a couple of years, ive learned so much but still feel i need to watch your videos to check myself! Im 43, mum with a busy job, so at this inbetween age I dont know what to wear for smart casual occaisions, for example, im going to a 40th birthday at a local pub, dont want to look over the top try hard but also dont want to look um 'mumsy'... its so hard at this age to look sexy, cool but not 25...you know what i mean! ❤️
This is a great video! I would like to see more like it. I love the tip of writing down what is missing. My friends and I send each other photos of new clothes we buy and seeing a piece on me in the photo always help me decide if it works.
I absolutely love this video. Plan to start keeping notes now of what I might need and then figuring what proportions and shapes work best for me on my next vacuum day. Thank you!
What great advice! Thank you Lydia for keeping us on our toes with your amazing insight! Could you do a video with advice on size, fabrics and textures? Can you wear velvet or patent leather in the morning? Is corduroy strictly casual? Are evening bags/pouches always small? can you wear sparkle during the day? What are some of the no nos?
Love this! Lydia is a fresh voice in personal styling field for us all. Really looking forward to more collaborations with fashion brands. Loved the last collection.
I love all of this advice! Also, planning a few outfits (using a lot of your guidance on proportion and color) ahead of time to grab from during the week, knowing the weather conditions has helped me significantly during the morning rush!
Thank you Lydia, great video! I completely relate to not having the right outfits for occasions and going out. I have carefully considered & worked on my workwear, daywear and sportswear, but not outfits for dinners out, parties etc. Great inspiration to finally make this part of my wardrobe work for me. Thank you
Lydia darling, you look fabulous in everything! It is indeed wise to discern whether you suit cool or warm tones. If you prefer grey over beige have you tried silver or pearl jewellery?
Very relatable! Currently returning clothes I've ordered online and I feel like I've failed in finding chic, sophisticated colors and styles that really suit me! It is so frustrating trying to look yourself, yet also elevating your whole look overall. It seems so easy on paper to do, but I feel like a massive failure when it comes to fashion! 😮💨
Thanks a lot for this useful video. You transcribe and formalize things that I do without necessarily being aware of it. So your tips will help me do it consciously and with intent. I would love you to put more similar videos.
Very helpful -- thank you! I think the photos are a great idea to give one perspective on one's wardrobe. There are times when I can put an outfit together that I loved before and then, because I'm not on top of my game on a particular day, I'll feel awful in the exact same outfit.
Such great advice. I started taking photos of myself in outfits to help myself work out new ways to style items and also the looks that I didn’t suit. I find your videos so helpful to learn guidelines on proportions and layering as I was getting stuck when I could see an outfit wasn’t working but I looked good in the colours.
Hi Lydia, such helpful suggestions and great timing as we’re about to transition from winter into spring in a couple of months. Ironically I just purchased two semi fitted T-shirts to pull together outfits or to stand on their own . ❤🇨🇦👠 I don’t think it’s lazy, we are not as creative as you!
Great advice as usual. I would LOVE to see guests with different body types come on that you can style to show how these concepts work or can be tweaked for different shapes! ❤
Yes yes 👌🏼 that's a great idea, to get to learn how to balance proportions working better for our body shapes n heights ..
Great recommendation!
Yes! I’m petite and struggle sometimes. Especially with the bottom half 🙈
Yes! Great idea
Yessss!

Thank you!
Great ideas, simply explained which takes a special talent. Thank you
What great advice!
Such a clever vid Lydia, some great ideas and ideas for me to take on board, keep em coming thank you
Спасибо большое 🙌🤗
Очень правильные рекомендации 👍
Нельзя покупать вещи спонтанно, обязательно продумать их сочетание в гардеробе☝️
Love this haircut and style of grey shirt combination on you! You look otherwordly, such a cool look 💌. Also, great advice in the video.
Thank you
Thank you Lydia for your very wise tips!!🙏❤
Lydia darling, you look fabulous in everything! It is indeed wise to discern whether you suit cool or warm tones. If you prefer grey over beige have you tried silver or pearl jewellery?
I have basics, but I need fun stuff that's versatile and timeless as well
Very relatable!
I would love you to put more similar videos.
change your makeup with the neutral and change to slim pant monochromatic. I do collages before purchasing.
Oh my god this is so true thanks best advice i do this so many times x
Volume did pick up once you started and Lydia you are absolutely amazing 🥰
Very helpful Lydia I think I will have a play today
Very smart. Beautifully communicated Lydia thank you
Very helpful -- thank you! I think the photos are a great idea to give one perspective on one's wardrobe. There are times when I can put an outfit together that I loved before and then, because I'm not on top of my game on a particular day, I'll feel awful in the exact same outfit.
I really love your channel. Thank you for this. Continue doing videos like this.
This content of yours is helpful. Thank you for doing this. 🧡
Love your videos! They really help me to THINK and PLAN around my wardrobe.
Thank you so much Lydia it's very informative and always you give great advice that are very useful . 👍
Thank you Lydia. Wise words to reflect on
Such great advice. I started taking photos of myself in outfits to help myself work out new ways to style items and also the looks that I didn’t suit. I find your videos so helpful to learn guidelines on proportions and layering as I was getting stuck when I could see an outfit wasn’t working but I looked good in the colours.
Excelente!!! Muchas gracias por su contenido! Saludos desde Lima, Perú
Great video Lydia, I love your style. Please do more of these videos 🇺🇸💛

I really love your videos! It is so useful for me!
It's amazing! Very helpful video! Thank you so much for your work!💜
Great video as always. I'm going to shop my wardrobe this weekend. ❤
I like the color of your eyes.
Wonderful video, Lydia! I loved it and definitely needed this encouragement (:
