Thanks for uploading this great video of a conversation with Mike demonstrating CubeStormer II and for including the links and other information in the description. It is a great reminder of a fantastic event :)
Human solvers are allowed to look at it before the time starts, you guys could cut 1.4ish seconds from every solve if you started the time when you started the solve.
2:16 CubeStormer 2 becomes self aware, drops cube in frustration at being a human slave, and considers ripping off human’s hand as he gropes around for half-solved cube.
of course there is. Once you get the algorithm, the only think that matters is how fast you can make the moves. And of course the examining of the rubix cube doesn't count for time
kolenda2 actually that wouldnt help at all. the most common solving method is layer by layer which is not the fastest possible method. workibg out the fastest solving method would require an insane mind and basically isnt possible for a human, however a conputer can always solve the cube in 20 moves or less.
Chris Levesley If you do this as an amateur you can learn few simple moves that will get you to the solved cube, I knew one such method few years ago. But if you're going for the world record then you need the fastest possible solution, and people do this, so it's possible for our brains. I still believe that to implement something in code you need to understand it first. I've never wrote the code that I didn't understand and it worked ;)
kolenda people do not solve the cube in thee fastest way, they ise the fastest METHOD (most use cfop) howeber a computer can work out the optimal solution using the fewest possible number of moves, which is always 20 or less
Note that the Cubestormer 2 was beaten by the Cubestormer 3 and then by the Cube Twister. Cube Twister runs under EV3 Basic which was developed, like the Twister itself, by Reinhard Grafl. He is seeking recognition by Guinness World Records of his new time of 2.2 seconds! Search for Cube Twister on TH-cam. See also ev3basic-dot-com.
Интересно, если на центральных кубиках вручную переделать цвета, так чтоб не собиралась грань (переклеить) то робот сойдёт с ума? Задымился? Прикольно бы посмотреть.
The solver algorithm searches for some solutions. Usually, the programmer will add logic so if no solutions are found, it will show an error message.. If it's not coded as well, it the searching algorithm might search forever hoping to find a solution, which would cause the machine to just freeze. It wouldn't just start making random moves, because it's not allowed to start turning the cube faces until it knows an entire solution.

impressive software. impressive hardware.

This is really awesome, combining NXT with a smartphone. I wish I had the knowledge and time to think that out. Congrats!
かっこいい
あと、ちゃんと全体を把握する時間も入れてるのいいね
Now you need another robot to scramble the cube...
matemana just set the robots «solution» to be a set of scrambled cubes which it randomly chooses from, instead of a solved rubiks cube
its Lego Technics its been around for years, the electronic parts of this are Lego Mindstorms which is really cool i have a much older version of it
its weird watching the NXT mindstorm preform a solve while having a robot from the Robot INnventor set rolling onto the floor beside me
of course there is. Once you get the algorithm, the only think that matters is how fast you can make the moves.
And of course the examining of the rubix cube doesn't count for time
Two things that I have: a Lego mindstorm(not that many pieces) and a Rubik's cube. Awesome.
Amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
so what happens when you take out a piece and put it in backwards?
if the cubestormer sold in malaysia ,where i can buy it?
how do you connect your smartphone to lego mindstorms?
I remember watching this when I was younger
Wow technology was so cool back in 2012
How would you even begin to design something like this? 👍
Learning to solve it by hand :)
kolenda2 actually that wouldnt help at all. the most common solving method is layer by layer which is not the fastest possible method. workibg out the fastest solving method would require an insane mind and basically isnt possible for a human, however a conputer can always solve the cube in 20 moves or less.

I wish I could find that guy who was so convinced erector sets were superior to legos in every way.
Lets see his erector sets solve a rubix cube
Where do you begin desining
how to connect samsung to the cube?
you could make something like safety switch at the botom of it. so it wont destroy itself when somthing hapens
Wow... this brings me back to pre November 2013
Have the people who built this ever known the simple joy of sticking two bricks together and calling it a gun?
True. Megaminxer was designed simply to be able to solve the Megaminx, not for all-out speed! ;)
Awesome!
This thing is SICK! A M A Z I N G !!!!.
Where can I buy one?

Is there a way where i can get this app??
awesome lego
how much for this machine
amazing lego robot
Is a great place to work
Is there any downloadable app for CubeStormer 4?
dude that thing is incredibaly smart.
What if that used all smartphones with Lego motor n sensor interfaces to do this Rubik's cube solving.
nice how long did it take to build
It's mechinised by a Samsung phone and the machines turning it are the lego robot thing I had one but thats like 8 of them they cost like $110
how do you do that
*that is absolutely awesome
so awsome wish i could build one of those
I'd wonder the amount of batteries that thing eats up
Интересно, если на центральных кубиках вручную переделать цвета, так чтоб не собиралась грань (переклеить) то робот сойдёт с ума? Задымился? Прикольно бы посмотреть.
i want to buy one Lego Rubiks cube solver please :)
What will happen if I give it an unsolvable Rubik's cube? Is it able to recognize that the cube is unsolvable?

Do you mean CubeStormer II's successor, CUBESTORMER 3?
Can I buy this

Just WOW!
that was awesome
Those are new Legos with programming ability in it.
can you do the same without phone
no.it needs the cam for it
amazing
I want to buy this product
Cool
wow that scan is soo fast :)
Now make one for the megaminx.
insane
Is this really the old comments system?
Sa fait flipper 😨 les machines prennent le pouvoir!!!!😨😨😨
Omg This is good
5.25 by collin burns
20 moves is the actual least amount of moves needed to solve a rubiks cube, better known as God's Algorythm.
there was no cable so i guess bluetooth, because Mindstorm supports it
HOW DO YOU EVEN DO THIS I WANT THIS ON EVERY ONE OF MY VIDEOS
EPIC
freaking coolllll
Actually the fastest time is 5.55 seconds and it was solved by Mats valk, he is Dutch :)
0:51最高ね、最高
そこそこ聞こえるの草
You should sell it and it could come with the app as well!!
This robot would go FAST with an Aolong v1!
Geez. Coolest thing I ever made with my Legos was a firetruck.
No 2:16 4:90
I WANT THE INSTRUCTIONS TO BUILD THIS!!!
When Skynet becomes self aware, it's going to use Lego to destroy humanity!
dat magic machine + da phone + rubik cube = magic
You could drive it with Genetic Algorithm.
Anyway, This bot is superb.
That's how Skynet started to exist. I think the name of the company on the phone even says Skynet not Samsung.
20 moves is the MOST amount of moves needed to solve a rubiks cube
Holy- That's fast than 99% of people can do it.
Adelbrook Learning Center considering 99% people can’t do it
cool that s nice
Wow
HOLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY fireTruck!
Ev3 version of this is gonna break the record
nope
who was ever to think that legos would take over humanity
*looks out the window*
*sees sister making a mindstorm that can move 5 steps*
crap
WOW
thank U! but it did not work on the first try... i watched a lesson on сoursmos... and it helped me to solve the rubik's cube faster...

Surely you used gearing up
O.o How did he Make that?.?
Programming, and patience
I need this machine
O. M. G.
Actually he is Australian and his name is Feliks.
wow!!! I thinks that's faster than the human world record
I'd like to see anyone else try and make this. O.O
Now the fastest time with a machine is 0.38
'
wow that so cooool...
how about rubik's 4X4 cube...
rubik's ball...
rubik's triangle
"rubik's triangle" -_-
After you ;)
That's my only favourite number.... Exactly 6268 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍 😍
