I was confused by that comment of his as well. From the way he delivers it, it seems like he’s saying they’re better at running businesses. But, he also talks at one point about how women shouldn’t fight, so he could also mean it the other way. Honestly, I have no idea.
I think it's a bit of both. Taken from Qunari page of the Dragon Age wiki: Qunari strongly believe that the genders are inherently and intuitively better at certain tasks. No matter how much aptitude and promise a male shows for management, he will never be considered as good at it as a female, therefore it would be considered inefficient and a waste of resources to place him in a role where a woman would serve better. Instead, the Tamassrans find another role that he shows aptitude for and will place him there instead. The same goes for females, most Qunari will find it odd if a female becomes a warrior. The odd, very rare exception is made however. A male Qunari will farm if he must, just as a female will fight, depending on the circumstance. The Qunari also have the concept of "Aqun-Athlok," which means "born as one gender but living as another". If a female shows sincere interest and outstanding talent at fighting, she will be considered male, regardless of her biological sex. For the Qunari, gender is a secondary trait compared to their duty to the Qun.
Sten sees all of this as wasting time when everyone should be fighting the archdemon. Messing around saving villages from unrelated threats is like fiddling while Denerim burns to him.
@@napoleoncomplex2712 also remember there society Put people in different roles. As a grey warden your job should be fighting the dark spawn while everybody else supports you. If there are conflicts the priests would take care of it.
