Most qunari only know the bits of the Qun that relate to them only the priesthood has the whole picture and they spend their whole lives figuring that crap out
After playing the 3 main dragon age games, I’m convinced that the qun is evil and hurts or brainwashes people more than it “enlightens” them. I hope we get to shut them down in DA4.
It's seen as an honor oddly. The qun values self sacrifice highly as a virtue. So the mages are actually highly respected whilst they are opressed. They fear demons and abominations not mages.
"The Qun is not a chain that binds" Yeah, right, the Anvil is an atrocity but using Qamek to turn someone into a mindless slave who does everything they're told and is so lacking in independence that they need carers to tell them to eat and use the toilet is all cool. And the mages, who are literally bound to something so functionally similar to a control rod that I suspect they studied them to develop it. Honestly part of me feels bad for Sten in a way - the development of the Qunari is primarily in the second and third games, which retcon/tweak the information to the point that he quite often just seems like an idiot who lacks anything more than a vague awareness of his own culture. I like the way they developed the Qunari, but it's unfortunate that a lot of it directly conflicts with how Sten portrays it (we could assume that Sten was lying, but I'd say he's the least likely candidate for telling a lie of any companion in any game since his entire approach to everything is "This is the truth, now deal with it").
Ok a few things Qamek? That sounds like being made tranquil. So that's fucked. But oddly mages are highly respected in a way. The qun values self sacrifice. And since Qamek is probably tranquility that means all mages are there willingly. So as much as as they're bound up it's willing and as such regarded highly by others. It's the fear of abominations that lead to them being treated like so. As such its presumed that their mages are locked in an eternal battle against them. Not saying it's not messed up. But it's oddly contradictory in how it makes sense.
Hey you know when you go to that temple to find Andraste's Ashes? Before you take the tests, The Guardian reads the minds of each of your party companions (including yourself). Will you please do a video on that so we can see what would've been said for everyone?
As much as I hate Bhelen, he is a progressive. Removing restrictions for the casteless, opening up Orzammer to surface trade and so on. He's a piece of shit but he's a piece of shit that the dwarves need to survive.
Zevran makes the same point with Harrowmont in all reality Bhelen while he may be Ruthless to some extent he is by far the better option for Orzammer in the long run Harrowmont will continue to make the same mistakes that led Orzammar to it's decline.
@@Testingthisname Being stuck in their ways brings the Dwarves to near extinction, they claim Surfacers have given up on the Stone and yet it is the Surface Merchants keeping Orzammar alive with Supplies. No Kingdom can be entirely self sufficient.
The concoction of the taint the wardens drink are quite different than straight up eating Darkspawn flesh. It's mentioned that the Darkspawn and the Wardens can sense each other, but recognise one another as different. Being exposed to the taint from Darkspawn makes you into a ghoul, same happened with Tamlen and I imagine eating the flesh of the Darkspawn harbour the same results. Ghouls become attached to the Song as well, they end up serving the Blight just as the Darkspawn do.
