    As always, Sailrite, has some of best tutorials. The explanation and the steps showing with the list of materials makes it even more desirable! My only comments are the fabric colors used in the videos are too dark to show the best seams details and the man who is in the background also wearing the same even dark clothes colors that made it difficult sometimes to notice. But in general, very satisfying. Preparing the materials now to do my own. Do you guys ship to Sweden? Thanks

    I love your videos! This bag was very well put together. My only complaint was, you did all that work but you didn't top stitch around the top of the bag. 😕

      That is the nice thing about DIY, a top stitch can be added if you like.

    I just finished one in canvas...mustard yellow with a charcoal gray canvas contrast bottom. Turned out great!
    Great pattern/tutorial! However....you made a mistake when you said to cut the corners for boxing the bottom of the lining 1 1/2" x 2". Shouldn't it be a 2"x2"? Unlike the outside of the bag, the lining has a 1/2" seam at the bottom therefore you would need to account for that 1/2". If you cut 2x2 square, sew sides and bottom with 1/2" seam that would leave 1 1/2" square making for a 3" boxed bottom (which is what the outside is) :)

      Correct! I am on my second one of these and I followed that instruction the first time, which was clearly an error. Also, the zipper pocket liner should be RSD, not RSU. I added another zipper pocket inside with a divided slip pocket for cell, pens, and wallet, underneath, opposite the large slip pocket. I added a snap closure to that large pocket as well. I believe it makes the bag more functional. I really love the simplicity of this pattern, and the possible variations are unlimited. Thanks for pointing out that boxing error.

    Quick question from your favorite never ending questions dude.
    What are your thoughts about using a light waxed canvas for both the outside as well as the inside and trim parts? Or would use use a different material for trim and liner parts?
    I'd like the dark green canvas exterior with black trim, bottom, etc.

    • @SailriteDIY
      @SailriteDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are referring to trim as a binding, then I would use a different product not the waxed canvas. Like: www.sailrite.com/Binding-Tape-Polyester-Black-1 or www.sailrite.com/Top-Notch-9-Polyester-Bias-Binding-Tape-Black-1-Inch For liners, I think I would use the same product or maybe Top Notch 1S.
      Let me know if you have more questions, we are glad to help!

      Sorry, do you meant the "same" waxed canvas for the liner thats used for the rest of the bag?
      Thanks again 👍

      I learned to sew when I was 50 years old because I didn't feel confident enough. Now I enjoying it very much. I'm sure you can find ways to save money to get a beginner machine like I did.

  • @darussianping61
    @darussianping61 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    what kind of machine are you using for this bag?

    • @jenky1044
      @jenky1044 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a sailrite sewing machine. They have 4 or 5 different machines (redish or blue) on their website. (Their larger "Fabricator" machine is black and is really, really nice). Some day I hope to get one of those.
      I hope this helps.

    No entiendo mucho las medidas en pulgadas, pero mi duda es porque el exterior mide 20”x16” y el interior mide 26”x16”? Soy de chile, fuera de esa duda encontré maravillosa la mochila 👍🏻😍

    Why does this bag look so much like the Range Backpack by Noodlehead Patterns? I’ve made a lot of those backpacks from her pattern. Anyways great video but all that work I would’ve topstitched to give the bag a nicer, clean and more professional look. But I see you was trying to give the tutorial without it being so long.
