Hello from Finland! Very quick and nice job. As I see it, the upper furnace is (also) for use as a baking oven. I am not a bricklayer, but a total amateur. When I worked on my project to convert a never-do well- always smokin-in open mouthed design stove from about 1960 to an internally circulating, heat accumulating stove with doors and controlled air intake via the basement I corresponded with a Swedish master masonry heater builder, who kept up the traditions of the system and instructions by Carl Johan Cronstedt, Fabian Wrede and Eric Palmstedt. On the base of the instructions "my" Swedish master masonry heater builder the only thing I would comment on here is that he told never to heat upp a new stove with full fuel load, but on the contrary, only to burn just so much small sticks that you could make sure that the canals worked as they were suppoused to do. Then you had to wait for months for the stove to dry, and then to start step-by-step with bigger loads, and also never to overheat the construction. I came to understand how important it would be to have an secondary burning chamber for for the gases from the primary burning, with controlled air inlet, but the frames for my project did not make it possible. The same importance of controlled secondary burning goes for all tent and cabine stoves also.
Great craftsmanship! Would love to see an explanation of how it works, and the air/heat flow within the stove. It appears to be based on the Russian Stove/Furnace concept. That will last a lifetime!
On Wikipedia its filed under Masonry heater. The principle is the same in all of these regardless of the shape. Basically what you do is extend the chimney into the stove so that the heat in the exhaust can be captured. But its important its built correctly so you maintain proper draft. I know of a few people here in Sweden who had these kind of heaters built by people who didnt know what they were doing. Resulting in nothing but back draft.. Another way of making the same effect is to have steel chimney in a labyrinth inside a watertank. Theres a Swedish company selling these kinds also. Traditionally masonry heaters in Sweden were built as an erect cylinder with tiles on the outside for looks. You find them in many old houses here. Back then they were built with clay mortar so they had to be rebuilt every 20 years or so.

Sweden invented the tilestove in 1767. It had a efficiency of 85% and needed much less wood than regular fireplaces. As it keept the heat for 12 hours you only had to fire 2 times per a day. More modern versions are even better. That is a much better solution than in this video as it doesn’t take up as much place in the house.
Its too small to retain the heat for 50 hrs. Mine is bigger, 1.5 Ton, and it heats for 24-30 hrs only...I think you can heat 50 hrs around 2-2,5ton. But you can heat it up in 2 days atleast. Its a nice build tough, i like the oven! :)
I built something similar some years ago, but this gentleman's work and thinking is amazing... Really excellent job... And l like the small pieces of wire support... (Links)sadly mine did not have those.
No theirs a lot to said about old school ways me my father and grandfather told me look back sometimes it can save your ass, And make like EZer. And yes it's payed off .
So very true but the only downsides are is heat rises, so any heat radiating out from the fireplace doesn’t go downwards so often the floor area remains cold! I saw a similar fireplace thinking it was great but it wasn’t until I installed mine that I realised that I made a huge mistake as the families feet were always cold!
@@DaveBooth-qs7sw you likely don't have enough insulation beneath your floor. It is normal that the floor is somewhat cooler than the walls, but not so much that you get cold feet, if there is enough insulation.
The world is already better with people like you and I .... thanks for sharing your video with us .... we have learned from you two, and from wise and not so wise comments as well, thank you all ; )
Traditional Russian stove. Massive thermal mass. They take up entire rooms, often with beds built into them on top. The upper side ports are for pre fire drafting, small fires are started there to get the hot air rise before the main fire is lit.
Builders did an excellent job. The "producer," however, gets a thumbs down👎 for giving no exlanations how it works: plans/blueprints, diagrams, cc, or anything. Sorry, but you left out the most essential parts.
I did something similar in my bedroom. What I did was I built a rocket mass heater which is fired by a propane flame and instead of brick, I just made a giant mold and filled in around all the duckwork with concrete. Anyway, it's a huge block of Stone and when it gets hot, it stays hot. I run the flame for about 3 hours and my bedroom stays roastie-toastie all night long. No, I don't sleep with the flame on.

Oh blah,blah,blah!
Only time & hard work gives this result.!!
Excellent little buld..some tricks detailed, much still an unknown setup..
NEXT TIME DISPLAY THE OVERALL LAYOUT...OK..?
Very nice work...
Ok ) Thank you !
That piece of art will outlife the house it’s build in
Its too small to retain the heat for 50 hrs. Mine is bigger, 1.5 Ton, and it heats for 24-30 hrs only...I think you can heat 50 hrs around 2-2,5ton. But you can heat it up in 2 days atleast.
Its a nice build tough, i like the oven! :)
Masterfully done!
I built something similar some years ago, but this gentleman's work and thinking is amazing...
Really excellent job...
And l like the small pieces of wire support... (Links)sadly mine did not have those.
Very interesting style of bricklaying. Different than what i am used to seeing.
Not worse, not better just different.
This man can make a lot of money just selling the designs. And I thought old-world style stoves were a thing of the past.
While the end product looks very good! It’s not very practical in today’s lifestyles
@@DaveBooth-qs7sw you likely don't have enough insulation beneath your floor. It is normal that the floor is somewhat cooler than the walls, but not so much that you get cold feet, if there is enough insulation.
@@DaveBooth-qs7sw Wear fluffy house shoes. Using a simple fan aimed at the ceiling would solve your problem.
Piękna robota
Great build! Would like a more detailed explanation of the layout and channel design. I didn't see that clearly. But wow! What an amazing job!
fantastyczny piec.dobra robota panowie.super.teraz to będzie grzało.👍
Builders did an excellent job. The "producer," however, gets a thumbs down👎 for giving no exlanations how it works: plans/blueprints, diagrams, cc, or anything. Sorry, but you left out the most essential parts.
There's a link to the builder's channel in the description
@@oldherbalist4906 It doesn’t matter what the stove is made of,as long as it has thermal mass.
Makes me want a brick brush of my own.🌞
I did something similar in my bedroom.
