Thank you so much! It is an amazing spot for sure! Our article about it goes up tomorrow, and our video/article about Rainbow falls goes up next week! You can take the trail from Devils Postpile to the falls 😊 have a great trip!
This is awesome! We’re going up to Mammoth and staying at Twin Lakes on Friday. Going to try the post pile hike and rainbow falls hike. About how many miles for the entire hike? I had foot surgery this year and not in my normal shape for hiking. Any feedback is welcomed!
@@gammonbejammin if you go from the Devils postpile parking lot the hike will be around 5 miles round trip. There are some hills but nothing to major. Hopefully your foot can make it!
Well, photos certainly are nice. However, seeing a photo of the Devils Postpile and/or being there is about the same as... Seeing a photo of a great pizza or eating some of it!
I first saw this monument in the early 60's and would love to introduce my wife to it. Unfortunately she is now 84 and the hike would be a bit much....if only they would let me ride my motorcycle to it! I've visited both the Devil's Postpile and the Devil's Monument on multiple occasions and can't decide which one has the most Devil in it. BHE
Compare this with a cross section of cellulose of a plant. There were giant trees all over the world. This was a small one. This tree stump is all that is left. Basalt columns is a story geologists tell people so we can all sleep at night without realizing the grandeur that used to be this world and what we have lost. Go do some research. You walked on top, you saw it up close, and still realize what you were looking at.
Sorry, didn’t realize. Our world is a history of extinction. As incredible as it is now it is a fragment of what it was and we continue in that direction.
Hi, unfortunately, you can't take the shuttle to Rainbow Falls. However, you can take shuttle 9 instead to start the trail. This will shorten your hike to about 2.6 miles round trip instead. We have the stats and info here: thatadventurelife.com/2020/08/18/rainbow-falls-hike-mammoth-lakes-ca/
@@LiveThatAdventure so if we take shuttle and stop @ #9 , so we can see rainbow fall right there without hiking? Then we can hike from rainbow fall to devils post (2.5 miles) then take shuttle out from stop #6? Is that right
Here is the link for info about the shuttle. If you have questions about it, please call the park. www.nps.gov/depo/planyourvisit/reds-meadow-and-devils-postpile-shuttle-information.htm You will have the hike to Rainbow Falls regardless of what shuttle stop you're at. It is a longer hike from the devil's post pile. If you're going from shuttle stop 9, it is a shorter hike.
Wow!! Beautiful! We are going to visit after watching your video! Thanks for sharing this awesome adventure.

Do you know if we can take shuttle from devils post pile to rainbow falls instead of hike? I have young kids, that hike is a bit much.
