  • I bought the cheapest RTX 2080 ti I could find, it runs out to be an Alienware Aurora R8 OEM RTX 2080ti version and it shuts it self off under load because the temperatures are TERRIBLE! Check the cards or go to my community page to vote on whether I keep the cheapest RTX 2080ti ! / @timmyjoepctech

    I've heard these cards are configured to work best with Alienware's own firmware, but sometimes you get a unit that needs updating and tweaking before the card understands how to run properly even in an Alienware's system. Maybe but the only issue so far is improper cooling. Nothing you could not fix with an aftermarket cooler. If he wasn't willing to take the risk, he wouldn't have bought a used graphics card to begin with.
      By keeping it and modding it, he can create content.

    5:44 since it has only one fan it could be that the case was modeld to provide it with fresh air frequendtly so that it doesnt overheat. But if we leave that aside it is still not working verry well

      Bro thats what i did and man it works just fine all it is, is watercooling or a nice 3rd party air coolong solution thatll make the card like any high end rtx 2080ti its not a cheap quality its a cheap cooling solution thatypu pay with it but now a days ppl buy high end cards just to take em apart and cool them either bigger cooler or watercooling imo i like watercooling for noise reduction and the fact that my temps are low for a card that gets hotter than balls my rtx 2080ti never reached 60°c always at 58°c maxed out settings oc idk but thats a bang for my buck

    • @drumguy1384
      @drumguy1384 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      In defense of the seller, they possibly just didn't come across this problem in their testing. When you're parting out broken OEM PCs for a living, "testing" usually involves booting it up and checking that the fan spins and it doesn't have any readily apparent artifacts or other glaring problems. Their game testing procedure may be made for cheaper cards and thus didn't push it far enough to find the thermal problem. They didn't lie about where it came from, its specs, or its physical appearance. It doesn't seem they were attempting to hide anything. Maybe they just didn't know.
      Also, if they do happen to be shady, if he returns it they're just going to turn around and sell it to the next person willing to take a gamble on the cheapest 2080Ti they can find. They won't be out anything but a little time and effort. Might as well make lemonade out of the lemon he bought, at least that way someone else might be spared the same misfortune he suffered. That's my take, anyway.
