    Update on other GPUs for memory upgrades. I am currently working on a 3060 Ti to upgrade it to 16GB. Other 3000 series are work in progress. A BIOS edit would be required to double the memory on these GPUs. Once the 3060 Ti is completed a video with step by step process will be uploaded. RTX 4000 series cannot be upgraded as they all use 2GB modules and are the highest capacity modules produced to date. GPUs that can be upgraded are 3060Ti, 3070, 3080 10GB, 3080 12GB, and 3080 Ti from the 3000 lineup. The 3000 series is a work in progress starting with the 3060 Ti. Don't forget to subscribe and hit the bell to get notified when the video is released.

      My setup is more suited for repairs as i use older hardware. For example my CPU is i7 3rd gen. Older hardware works well with the testing software needed for repairs. Since i am also getting into upgrade i do intend to have a benchmarking setup with the latest hardware (CPUs, GPUs etc.) so i can pitch it against each other. Until i can afford to set this up I ill try and make a basic comparison in my future videos like before and after kind of thing. 😁

    Chinese workshops have been repurposing the older GeForce RTX 2080 Ti by doubling its memory from 11GB to 22GB specifically for AI acceleration. All original 2080 Ti's use GDDR6 memory, slightly slower than the newer GDDR6X found in the RTX 3080. The 2080 Ti also has fewer CUDA cores, compared to the 3080. If you have a 2080 Ti and want to maximize its AI performance, upgrading to 22GB VRAM could be beneficial. For AI tasks, the 3080’s combination of faster memory and more CUDA cores makes it a strong contender. If you’re starting from scratch or have the option to choose between the two, the RTX 3080 is likely a better choice for AI workloads, primarily as It has a larger number of CUDA cores and faster boost clock, compared to the 2080 Ti.

    • @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql
      @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      No There are other GPU's too that can be upgraded. There are a few things to consider before upgrade. Memory slots available, Bus Width, Current memory module capacity, current support in BIOS, GPU performance etc. just to name a few. The maximum memory capacity modules availabe is 2Gb so only gpus using 1GB can be upgraded. Is there a BIOS already written so that there is driver support as well. Is the GPU performance good enough to utilise the aditional memory. Last but not the least, is the upgrade worth the money spent.

For example 1 stands for high and 0 stands for low and M strands for medium. 1 connects 100k resistor to 1.8v, for 0 the resistor is connected to ground. As you play around you will get the hang of it. Start reading schematics it's fun. It gives a lot of insights.

    It's hard to say if it's worth it for gaming, ie, 12GB is close to recommended 16GB min, but I do remember a Hardware Unboxed vid where extra memory allowed the textures to full form, ie, not enough memory and they are rough blob renders. They even showed a GPU render properly when started, but after 20min it ran out of memory and the pic became worse. Basically it's the cost, like is the $300 swap ok for a 10% better appearance in games.

      However, given that 448.0 GB/s on the GDDR6 HC-14 (14 Gbps) vs 608.3 GB/s on GDDR6X (19 Gbps) version makes almost 0 difference in terms of performance, I highly doubt going from HC-14 to HC-16 would make sense.

    • @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql

      As of now, RTX 4090 cannot be upgraded beyond 24GB of VRAM. Micron GDDR6X is only available in 2GB modules in 21Gbps and 24Gbps. Though it is possible to install 24Gbps modules (supported) to increase the bandwidth however the capacity cannot be increased.
      The returns on investment in upgrading from 21Gbps to 24Gbps modules will be negligible and benefit minimal (It is a theory based on calculations and yet to be tested though.) If in the future I get my hands on a 4090 and a user is willing, I will put this to the test and measure the difference in performance.
      If in the future Nvidia launches an RTX 4090 Ti or a 5090 it will be launched with the 24Gbps modules. (Speculation)
      It's the same with 7900XT or XTX. 7900 XT and XTX use GDDR6 memory and the bandwidth of each module is 20Gbps. Samsung is sampling a 24Gbps memory but it is still sampled and not mass-produced. So for 7900 XT and XTX we are using the top possible memory.

    furmark is a good gpu test but only for core and thermal test. As you see it uses 750ish mb of memory, so you're not testing memory stability.
    Also 20 series and later have memory error correction, you need to compare before and after 3dmark scores or something to validate that error correction doesn't kick in as much as before. or ideally not at all when you run memory at stock speeds. And lastly you can check overclocking headroom before and after.
    My 2080tis are evga ftw3 and also using Samsung memory chips. They do +1060 offset stable.
    I'd suggest also to let the memory chips on the pre-heater and put them all in line when heating them in place. Thus you won't heat cycle the previous chip again.
    also i would use a small aluminium or copper heatsink block for the core.

    I was searching the internet and I noticed that the power of the GPU processor in the PlayStation 5 is the same as the RTX 2070, but the difference is the size of the memory.
    I thought you could increase the memory size of the card
    Now I saw the video and was sure :)

      Thank you 😁. for the cost of upgrade and shipping, you can get a PS5. The cost of the upgrade would come to USD 185. For shipping you will have to contact your local postal service to find out the price of shipping to and from Dubai. Consider the overall cost before deciding and if you do decide You can book your repair at the link graphicscardrepairs.com/repair-request/

    Hello Hello From Canada!!! I thought this was fascinating to watch and it was great how you explained everything so clearly as you went along. I was told that Ethereum mining benefits from the extra VRAM, but I think 3d modeling and rendering benefits the most, with the higher amount of VRAM, so if you have the pair of 2080Ti cards already then a double memory upgrade would be awesome for your productivity. I was curious what a modification like you demonstrated will costs to someone who wants to have the work done, if lets say they had a room full of 2080Tis? Thank you for sharing your incredible talents with us and I can't wait to see more episodes on your channel and what you do in the future. I hope you stay safe, stay healthy and are as happy as you can possibly be.

      Thank you 😃. This upgrade would cost $220 per 2080Ti including the memory. On bulk orders of 10 or more there is a discount. Link for booking my services is in the description. There is another upgrade video coming soon.

    I think it's pretty impressive.
    Although 22gb may be more than the core can utilise, better quality memory and more of it could make for easier OC and make playing games with larger texture packs easier since it wont be held back by VRAM.
    I would love to see stock timespy vs this modded one. Maybe a few gaming benches to see what it can actually do. Stock vs this. Maybe see how well it can OC?

    The demand for this mod to 22GB for this card is AI Compute, where VRAM size is somewhat more important at times than outright speed.
    The bigger your VRAM, the larger the datasets you can compute

    Ai training its really useful to have more since it allows it to store more parameters.
    Now for crypto mining, its around what 6gbs back when ether could be mined was around the sweet spot since it held enough space to hold what it needed to do, hence why all the old crypto cards having 6-8gb of vram.

    amazing. This would certainly be of interest to folks who use 3d-rendering software like Blender/Daz Studio etc. VRAM is the biggest limiting factor and it sucks how skimpy nvidia are with it. Even 24 GB is limiting for some folks.

    Im just an idiot who likes gaming, but double the VRAM spec is impressive man. I think in gaming its a huge boost if you stream on the same device which you game on , but on the other side you re missing the ai chips which will be the future as it looks? Idk man but anywho a awesome upgrade if its not that expensive and you have the knowledge for DIY 👌🏻 i‘d love to see performance review of that upgrade card vs normal 2080 ti. But awesome video man !

    great vid masterful display of skill i was really intrested in seeing why this is done. be cause more memory doest always mean faster gpu. like amd recently showed with i think the refresh of the 7600 ? that card had a memory boost and only got like 3-6% increases in some instances msot being equal

    • @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql
      @GraphicsCardRepairs-tk7ql  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      more memory will not boot performance. Upgrading memory will give you smoother gameplay, less stuttering, and steady frames. On normal GPU the drop in frames is because of the overflow in the memory buffer where it starts to utilize the slower system RAM. This causes a drop in framerate. In productivity, i am not an expert but the upgrade would depend on your use case. some applications like larger memory capacity.

    I mean it depends on how much it cost for parts + labor to upgrade the VRAM is the biggest factor in doing this but if it doesn’t cost a lot and it does work I see people doing this
