- Angkor Wat, temple complex at Angkor, near Siem Reap, Cambodia, that was built in the 12th century by King Suryavarman II. The vast religious complex of Angkor Wat comprises more than a thousand buildings, and it is one of the great cultural wonders of the world. Angkor Wat is the world’s largest religious structure, covering some 400 acres and marks the high point of Khmer architecture.
The temple is the highlight of anyone’s visit to Cambodia and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
An activity that is popular to do but requires waking up very early is to come see the sunrise over the famous towers of Angkor Wat. Crowds start forming when the park opens at 5 am to see the brilliant colors in the cool of the morning.
If you enjoy sunrises this would defiantly be an activity you want to see.

Absolutely magical and one of the best sunrise views in this setting. Worth getting up super early in the morning to catch the sight. Thank you.
It was nice to see. It’s worth seeing one time for sure. If you go on March 21st or September 21st the sun rises exactly over the center prang from the middle of the path. The crowds are huge for those days though.
Beautiful shot bro!!
Thanks. It looks like a postcard. The sunrise was nice but I think I prefer the sunset through the windows of the center complex. That is like saying I like cake over ice cream though; no real best thing. lol
Beautiful 😍
Was very nice to see. My camera doesn’t do it justice. Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed going there but one day was enough for me.
It’s definitely something to see at least once. I enjoy seeing all of the smaller sites around as well. I could probably spend 3 or 4 months riding around the countryside finding small ruins. It is easy to get temple fatigue though when they all start looking the same.
There is an Apsara smiling at the entrance, who is showing her teeth lol
The detail of the carvings is amazing. Every time I go here I’m amazed. I’ve seen that one before. I really love the craftsmanship and small details that you see everywhere.
What do all the little kids sell these days? When I was there, over 20 years ago, it was mostly film and batteries. Yeah, film.
Believe it or not the kids have almost disappeared. There are signs up saying don’t give the kids money or candy because it encourages them to not go to school. There are the ladies though that sell t-shirts and cold drinks.
@@endlessjourneytravels I think many of those kids learned more out there than in school. They could sell things in five languages.
@@sbeers88 ya some of them were impressive. Postcards and books were the big thing they were selling the first time we went. I think those kids have grown up and are now the local guides, tuktuk drivers and guys trying to take professional pictures for you in front of the ruins.
