It's time all the jewels in UK are returned to the former colonies, It was evident that the Kohinoor diamond and throne of Maharaja Ranjit Singh with the jewels could not be gifted to the Queen
Yes, absolutely. Museums have no more right to a piece of stolen art than a thief does! If I sauntered in and lifted a piece of art from a museum, I'm pretty darn sure I'm getting arrested and the art is being returned; there should be no difference for a museum. Stolen art should be returned to its rightful owner! 😤
Gajpur; a village now' in the Gorakhpur District of UP situatiated on the bank of Raapti- a perennial river which flows through Gorakhpur also, has been the part of erstwhile historical Awadh State (ruled by Nawaabs of Awadh). This village have been an old brick masonry fort - said to be built by the local King. In the village, there's an old temple, having an area of the premises nearly .... situated on the bank the river; built by then local Zamindars - having their agricultural land occupancy spread over vast area, part of now in the two Districts of UP- Gorakhpur and Deoria. As the events of the history run , the village was raided by the British soldiers during the historical mutiny including the temple premises wherein three pedestals are there. Below the Central dome , the pedestal statues of Ram, Laxman and and Sita while the adjacent rooms , one having Lord Krishna and Radha. On the third pedestal, there was statue of Kaali. When the British Soldiers raided the temple premises, wherein Kaali statue was there they looted it and carried with them. There's every chance, that it may be in the British museum London. Therefore that it may be located in the British museum which is now thinking to return the looted articles to the respective countries of their origin...
Egypt didn't even care about their own artefacts. Remember when the world had to step in and save the Abu Simbel temples from the dam flooding?
UK should start by giving back Elgin Marbles
