Wait until you are mobbed by beggars and scammers while visiting the museum. Last time I was at the pyramids, one of the scams that stands out is the men dressed like officials blowing their whistle at you while they try to get you to go to their partner where they try and scam you. They need to get a hold on that stuff.

It's exciting to hear about the partial opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum. Egypt's rich history deserves a world-class showcase. Now is the perfect time for Germany to return the Nofretete bust, a priceless artifact that rightfully belongs to its homeland.

The old museum was filled up and seemed like a storage so I’m happy that ancient Egypt is getting a bigger place to move into - I mean, had it been any bigger and obnoxious they would’ve had to bulldoze the Giza plateau😂 Bit of a shame to put Ramesses under a giant roof like the GEM’s, it does the impossible and actually dwarfs him, wish they would have kept him in open air. And the lighting from below throughout the exhibition needs to be reconsidered, that has never done anyone any good - person or sculpture! But other than that money well spent. The facade is absolutely hideous, but the artefacts are stored in proper facilities now.

The investors of this project obviously feel the Egyptian museum is Tahrir square is not big enough, and not every tourist who visits the Pyramids also visitited Tahrir square museum. But knowing the Egyptians they don't do anything straight forward. Queuing up for an hour to get it won't help without having an online sales.

I visited Egypt over 25 years ago and viewed the artifacts in the beautiful, historic museum. While the old museum was in need of refurbishment, maintenance and improved security of its artifacts, I'm glad I went when I did before the "dinseyfication" of ancient Egypt and this eyesore of a museum.

I visited the old Egyptian museum in 2022 and thought it was very unfitting for the magnificent history of Egypt. It’s an old and decrepit building. Dusty, and doesn’t highlight the antiquities well. The museum at the acropolis in Athens is light years beyond the old Egyptian museum. I’m glad that the new museum appears poised to give Egypt’s history a proper showcase.

I love Egypt, the history and all those temples and statues, been there twice(20 years apart).Just those people selling stuff cant take a no for an answer. It’s almost like harassment, govt needs to address this because the country is just too beautiful and historical to get pissed off at the start of the trip. By saying this I will come back to finally see the grand museum.

Considering all the scammers prowling around the Pyramids, this sounds like a good idea to go to, but I they don't reign in all the scammers and beggars, it'll be a flop. Every time I went to Egypt, it was a disaster. Way too many beggars and scammers. Same with India.

No, it won't change history. It may change some historians' interpretation of history, but what happened in the past is done. Still, it would be a fascinating place to visit. The artifacts at the Met in NYC and at the British Museum give testimony to the talent and craftsmanship of Egypt's past.

Group 1 counts time by dynasties.
Group 2 counts time by wars.
You need long term peace to forge a dynasty and to allow humanities to flourish ✨️.
Arab spring is " conflict time" stamp.
No matter how many times we tell Group 2 they are not Group 1 = they fight against it 😊
