My grandpa worked for sharp from 80 to 94. He told me a few years ago before he passed away that Sears, KMart and a few circuit city stores sold them and that was it. Any sharp dealer could order them to sell in their stores but most didn't.

You friend should join the Facebook group “Sharp NES TV Owners!” There is a guy in there that finally figured out 3d modeling the doors and he 3d prints and sells them. Also he should register the serial number with the group since they are so rare!
As someone who grew up with a Sharp TV until the year 2000 (I'm dead serious, this was the MAIN TV, and it was NOT a big TV, below 20 inches, probably around 15) I can vouch for that brand. I had my absolute best gaming moments on that TV, and it had mono sound, lol. No SCART, NES was over RF, and the N64 used the right audio channel. It was legitimately awesome.
I bought a used NES and thought the pins needed replacing. I could only get half my games to work sometimes. After watching Rick do his magic I learned the ancient technique to getting the pins to line up; you need to pull the cartridge out just slightly so that its right up against the front wall of the slot. All my games work now, just saved me so much trouble and money. Thank you, Rick 🙏
I passed on one of these for 350.00 bucks two years ago. No original controllers and all the plastic legs were trashed. My biggest fear was repair if something broke down and I would try to preserve it over playing games with it. Glad you were able to take it home. They are rare as dragons teeth although I met a guy in Myrtle Beach who has an arcade/video game store and I think had a total of 5. He had an incredible collection of stand ups.
Dude I live 5 mins from Kapow and lost it when I saw that tv wasn’t in the case anymore! The employee told me someone came in the same day as you did to offer a trade for it and they turned it down . Also, I legit found an entire pristine NeS and games at that same goodwill! If you’re ever in North Little Rock, holler!
My friend had one of these. Black controllers and all like 20 years ago use to play it all the time. Weird that now it’s a collector’s item. But it is really cool. The feet on the base acted like a place to set your controllers down when not in use. Also these were only available at hotels originally. So getting one was mostly because you knew someone when the hotel upgraded their tv’s.
I used to thrift and and do trades for old rare sneakers and jerseys, it never occurred to me about video games and consoles, I’m glad i found this channel, i may only be 18 but i love anything and everything nostalgic!
I remember my Nintendo had a spot where you had to pull the game out so the cart hit slightly as you pushed it down, sounded like that's what you did with the click as it went down.
I have the controllers to one of these with my actual NES. A buddy of mine had this TV when I was a kid, and I traded him my stock controllers for these black ones. I've had them for years.
A couple of weeks ago I paid $60 for a Sony Trinitron when I told my wife how much I paid for it she gave me that look that she does when she gets really mad.

I have my parents Sony woody cabinet in my basement with my Colecovision, Intellivision and NES on top. You can’t beat that nostalgic feel. Even though it doesn’t compare with the consoles of the 90’s, it’s still a part of video gaming history.

You should buy mario maker 2 then. I haven't played it myself but all the TH-cam videos I watched says mario maker 2 feels like a whole brand new game since they added mario 2 mario.
On my OG NES, I always had to not only blow in the game cartridge but also wiggle it back and forth after it was inserted and pushed down in order to make a better connection with the contact points. Always worked after that.
I was totally yelling at the screen how to start it too! I still have my Nes that I bought with my own money in 1986. My grandsons still play it, it still has the orginal 72 pin. I play on my top loader.
What an amazing find with that TV. I've never seen one before but now I can see that I have. The tiger electronics games were an awesome pick up as well. 👍

they are heavy lol My friend bought one when it was released. He was the only person I ever knew that bought one. It was like 400 and it was cheaper to buy a Nintendo system and Tv on their own. But it was a neat idea, his mother still has it. He passed away in 1998 and she kept his collection on NES, SuperNEs, and N64.
There’s an awesome documentary on this thing on TH-cam, I just watched it last month. I wanna say it was about $600 originally but didn’t sell well so Kmart took all the units and sold them for around $400. If I remember correctly.

I picked up that Sharp NES TV about 10 years ago from a garage sale for $100 and it came with both black controllers and has all 4 feet. Still have it today. What is funny, I found that TV again at a garage sale a few years ago. But the lady was taking offers only and my buddy said he'd offer $500 at the time and she never called him back. She was even calling game stores asking what they would pay. I was at a GameStop and the phone rang and the clerk was confused about a Nintendo TV set they where asking what they would pay for. lol BTW I also own a Sharp SF1 which is the Super Famicom TV combo.

I somehow find it equally interesting that there's a comic book store that also sells vintage toys, vintage home video, and retro videogames. Wow. (5:39) "it's pretty Sharp" 😳 (For context, I have more of an interest in comics than videogames, but then TH-cam recommended this video to me and I couldn't help but to watch it) (11:27) If I were to go there, that spinner rack would be one of the first things I'd walk up to, since my reading interests are more towards all ages and children's stuff, though in reality, i tend to go for more obscure stuff and indie comics.

Although I love the nostalgia and content like this, there's nothing truly 'essential' about shopping for a retro gaming device at present and so it would've been nice to see these guys taking some precaution and showing some respect for that awesome guy working in that store. In a store like that I'm sure he's desperate to make a sale and probably wouldn't fuss about a guest not wearing a mask and that's the sad and compromising conflict of interest in this situation.

That Zelda Map is from the first issue of Nintendo Power - you could probably find an issue with the map for $70 or so. Such a cool store - I would have dropped so much coin at that store. Probably wouldn't have bought the Sharp TV though - such a neat piece of history to have. I'm sure he'll get a ton of enjoyment out of it.
*Very* cool p/up! That sucker is quite rare! Chances are lots of these were e-cycled over the years. You might find this #NES #retro fact interesting: Zelda 2 NES released in '89 in NA. But...at different months for Canada vs the US. US was December & Canada was late August. I know because I have the Canadian release. It was my 1st dual language release. Box & manual are both in English/French. Need to find & show my copy one day.

FYI I would but a thin piece of plywood under this TV because all of the weight it put on those 4 little pegs that stick out of the sides and they are known to break off. The plywood would keep the weight of of them and you wouldn't even see it.
Glad I picked up mine at $400, even when all my other collector friends told me I overpaid. Both Doors intact and only one broken foot. Sadly I did not get the controllers or remote with it.
If you’re ever in Georgia on the south side of Atlanta there’s a store I go to all the time called Full Circle Toys in Newnan Georgia. They have a separate store in the back for retro games. The prices have gone up but the store is so cool.

I'm from Charlotte NC and these Nintendo tvs were very popular there available at rent a center in the late 89s very early 90s. They were all thru the hoods
I clicked on this video after youtube suggested it and then walked away for a few seconds. I came back and saw the cash register and was like holy crap that’s the comic book store I go to like three times a week! Shout out Tony he’s a great dude and deserves all the good comments

Likewise! Although I love the nostalgia and content like this, there's nothing truly 'essential' about shopping for a retro gaming device at present and so it would've been nice to see these guys taking some precaution and showing some respect for that awesome guy working in that store. In a store like that I'm sure he's desperate to make a sale and probably wouldn't fuss about a guest not wearing a mask and that's the sad and compromising conflict of interest in this situation.

That Zelda Map is from the first issue of Nintendo Power - you could probably find an issue with the map for $70 or so. Such a cool store - I would have dropped so much coin at that store. Probably wouldn't have bought the Sharp TV though - such a neat piece of history to have. I'm sure he'll get a ton of enjoyment out of it.

You might find this #NES #retro fact interesting: Zelda 2 NES released in '89 in NA. But...at different months for Canada vs the US. US was December & Canada was late August. I know because I have the Canadian release. It was my 1st dual language release. Box & manual are both in English/French. Need to find & show my copy one day.

I remember those TVs with built-in VCR and it is a Sony. Because my dad owned one and it worked until 2018. Crazy right!
FYI I would but a thin piece of plywood under this TV because all of the weight it put on those 4 little pegs that stick out of the sides and they are known to break off. The plywood would keep the weight of of them and you wouldn't even see it.

Glad I picked up mine at $400, even when all my other collector friends told me I overpaid. Both Doors intact and only one broken foot. Sadly I did not get the controllers or remote with it.
If you’re ever in Georgia on the south side of Atlanta there’s a store I go to all the time called Full Circle Toys in Newnan Georgia. They have a separate store in the back for retro games. The prices have gone up but the store is so cool.
I live a baseball's throw away from this place. Vortex is the name of the retro arcade and it's a real unique place. Sherwood, AR!
My old Nintendo we had to stick popsicle sticks in the slot along with the game to get it to play.
I found the first season of American Gladiators on DVD at my Goodwill this week. Talk about an awesome blast from the past find.
