    Diesel engines are amazing for that reason. Let it sit for 20 years and it starts right up, even with the old fuel in it. Amazing.

      Its the fuel. The new fuel has additives that go bad and contaminate the fuel. The old fuel takes 30 years or more to go bad

    This video is tugging at my heart strings! Having retired from 38 years OTR in 2015 the International Cabover was my first truck to start my trucking career back in 1977!       He's saying oil has a shelf life and its basically 17 years past that date so starting it does more harm then good. Same goes for antifreeze that stuff is totally acidic now, but i think antifreeze you can live with for a little but not the oil that instant wears everything..

      Diesel engine will burn dam near anything as long as it is flammable and not explosive (i.e. gasoline). That fuel is likely rotten as hell but it will still burn when put under the high compression of a big truck diesel engine.

    One of my drivers went to Florida to grab a truck in a similar situation.. He got it started, decided it was road worthy, and headed North to Massachusetts.. He stopped in Richmond, Virginia to sleep. He woke up covered in fire ants. He spent the next month in the hospital

      @@MichaelDouglas-24 He said fuel filter, not pump. If he did need a complete pump assembly for it, reman options are available from the Cummins factory overnight, though they aren't cheap. I'm a dealer, and I sold a FC4095RX to a guy the other day which was right around $2000, excluding the core charge.

      There is a trade off though. The older trucks are reliable and simple, I'm talking Non computer controlled. On the other hand newer trucks are more comfortable, better fuel mileage and usually but not always have more power. I have an 88 359 that pulls my lowboy, big Cam 400, and its starts up everyday even when its 10deg out. The tradeoff is it sucks down fuel, its loud and its rough as shit. But I keep it because its reliable.

    when delimbing a tree like this one, you always do an "undercut" before sawing through the limb from the top, that way you ensure that the falling branch/limb does not tear the bark all the way to the trunk.

      Why did they delimb the tree? Absolutely not necessary. Instead of damaging an old tree the only thing they had to do is remove one or two columns of the fence so the truck can drive through.

    both axles get power but they are like an open diff, the powerdivder locks the front and rear to a 50/50 split like a diff locker

    International is a special kind of cabover. Start with pulling the wind deflector off the roof and getting the hydraulic cab jack working right. The Cummins sounds good.

    The newer model........the 9800 had an updated design and it had the flat floor. No more intrusion from the engine. I always loved to look at that particular model.........one of the best designed cabovers.

      That over-speed condition that I think that you're referring to doesn't happen with the 4-stroke diesels, it's the 2-strokes like the old Detroit Diesel, that will run away because the air-box can load up with lube oil. This happens because the air-box drains or tubes can get clogged which allows the engine to actually run unrestricted on the engine's lube oil.
