Was just looking at the road signs. Looks like you are near where I grew up. I was raised in West Chester left along time ago. Was just back there before Christmas and took route 1 all the way to Baltimore just for the drive. Good luck with the new Pete.

I live in Australia and I have to say it is absolutely amazing to sit here and watch you use the gears. Manual vehicles of any type seem rare here and so many rigs are auto plus the driving is questionable. One thing I really miss is the incredible genuine Mack’s and hearing them coming down the road. As a Scottish quote says ‘long may your chimney smoke’. Great video.🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍

Never been in a 589, but I loved the 579 I had back in 2015. Loved how big the cab and sleeper were. Just about need a mop and bucket to clean the windshield though.
Peterbilt's are expensive to maintain with diesel prices and they are expensive. I run a 2015 Frightliner Cascadia and the company isn't giving me enough runs.
@AntoshGill it isn't the truck as much as it's the silly Aftertreatment system. PACCAR seems to be having more issues making them reliable than any of the other truck manufacturers.

Every new truck you get into most everyone says they don't like but talk to them a few weeks or months later they have changed their tune, especially when you change from a Coronado to a Pete. You'll be fine. Over here in Aus many of the trucking companies are changing from Kenworth to European trucks like Volvo or Scania.
@@brc2100 So far there’s things that I don’t like compared to my Coronado but then I am already noticing things that I do like better. I know I’ll get used to it (but my dog doesn’t like it yet either 😏). Thanks for your comment 😊
They made those trucks for better visibility for the older and newer drivers. I prefer the 389 old school 😎😎💯💪🏾iykyk they still are nice. The hood is for sure shorter.

👍 eventually I’m going to buy a Peterbilt. I’m gonna get rid of the service lines. I’m going to get rid of the extra crap that they put on them and I’m gonna make a custom pick up truck out of it. It’ll be a 10 speed transmission, hopefully with the caterpillar. Can you imagine having a nice Peterbilt pick up truck full-size with a pair of 200 gallon fuel tank tanks on it? That would be cool. That’s what I’m working to do. Keep up the good work. I hope that you get good luck out of your truck, but I doubt that you will because of the electronic crap that they put on these things that even delay you before you get a chance to start the damn engine. They put all this crap on there just to make it more difficult. Wait for it to fail.
@ it’s a shame I can’t show you pictures of what I’ve done to my pick up truck. The air compressor system on my pick up truck is like no other pick up truck in the United States. And let me tell you my airhorns are super loud to wake up the idiots on the freeway. 🍺🧰🇺🇸

I was on a training run and the instructor set up the ramp , I was coming out of the trailer with a hand truck full of cases of French fries , when the ramp gave way . I crashed to the ground , fractured my tibia, and tibia and tore the ACL in half on my left knee. That was the end of my trucking career.

No you don't have to use the clutch once you start moving, you flote the gears whenever you shift, takes some time getting use to doing it,but it saves the clutch alot, 😮😮
Congrats on the lovely old school truck. I can fully understand why your company might go for something like this. Very surprised at the noise in the cab though. Admittedly, I am used to European cabover trucks that have three or four levels of air ride and so are nearly silent inside. I don't think I have driven an Eaton manual with the splitter for 25 years, since auto-shift manuals started to take over, so it brings back memories. 😊 I hope you and the truck have a long and successful future together. 👍 I will be watching for your future videos.
Hello from Sweden. That truck looks like something from the 1950s compared to European trucks. Have not seen a truck here with manual gearbox for many years...
@@renaldojason The reason we have cabovers is because the maximum allowed lenght of the vehicle is from front bumper to end of trailer. That is why we need to have a short cab without the engine in front of the cab. Maximum lenghts here in Sweden is 34 meters and maximum total weight is 74 metric tonnes.

@LafondaJackson436 You're welcome. Thanks for sharing . I've always loved trucking. I actually got my CDL and took a job with Willow Run Foods out of Kirkwood NY. I was on a training run and the instructor set up the ramp , I was coming out of the trailer with a hand truck full of cases of French fries , when the ramp gave way . I crashed to the ground , fractured my tibia, and tibia and tore the ACL in half on my left knee. That was the end of my trucking career.

No you don't have to use the clutch once you start moving, you flote the gears whenever you shift, takes some time getting use to doing it,but it saves the clutch alot, 😮😮
Congrats on the lovely old school truck. I can fully understand why your company might go for something like this. Very surprised at the noise in the cab though. Admittedly, I am used to European cabover trucks that have three or four levels of air ride and so are nearly silent inside. I don't think I have driven an Eaton manual with the splitter for 25 years, since auto-shift manuals started to take over, so it brings back memories. 😊 I hope you and the truck have a long and successful future together. 👍 I will be watching for your future videos.

Hello from Sweden. That truck looks like something from the 1950s compared to European trucks. Have not seen a truck here with manual gearbox for many years...
Euro trucks are all cabovers us had those 50 years ago
@@renaldojason The reason we have cabovers is because the maximum allowed lenght of the vehicle is from front bumper to end of trailer. That is why we need to have a short cab without the engine in front of the cab. Maximum lenghts here in Sweden is 34 meters and maximum total weight is 74 metric tonnes.
Sweden doesn’t have the open roads we have.
