I've had a little luck doing theater in the last year or so... Late starter.. Cuz I'm a bit shy myself.. But interestingly enough.. being the task is to be a character, be someone else... thy shyness thing doesn't even register.
Same, but I don't think my parents would approve. My dream is to be on broadway lol. I don't even care if it's a lead role, and I'm willing to take every lesson I need in order to become good enough. But where I currently live, chances are super small, and my parents don't really think I have to like my job. They see jobs more as just something you do to get money, and use the money to have good things that will make you happy. But every time I watch a show, I can't help but feel like I want to be more than just an audience member.
Sooo i got lead roll in a musical and i didnt think i would. I can sing but i dont know if i can act. Apparently i can because i was chosen but im scared i may suck😂
clarisa bonton why not try it 😁 maybe you are so nervous...? I also plan to be a theatre actress someday...my only problem is i'm too shy and awkward 😂 but, I may be suck at first but as long as you don't give up, little by little you gonna improve up a lot 😁 everybody is suck at first 😉 you shouldn't let the thoughts of 'i'm scared' to control you. Just be yourself and do it! 😁👌
I just recently got into theater again after moving and just had my first class. They were all so welcoming and the directors brought out the best in everyone. I’m so glad I got to do theater again and thank you for this video it helped
Clara Eke Nope! Only if it's in the script. It comes off as unprofessional, like you don't have your lines memorized. You don't say 'um' while singing, you don't say 'um' in a monologue. Don't say um.
@@placeholder9462 sorry. Agree to disagree. I use fake little affectations like ums and quick little stutters all the time. Saying lines rarely sounds natural as written. Wow all these hateful comments and for what? She didn't say anything wrong, she didn't give bad tips in my opinion so why all that hate???? Smh, people these days, always so hateful and judgy 😑
I just got enrolled into acting classes, i have no experience and I *know* everyone there is already experienced 😓I literally watch a TV show two of the kids from there were in here. I’m good at acting, but not in front of people. Maybe it’s just in front of family, in fear to make a scene and just get way too scared and run out. I don’t even know but I’m going for it, acting has been my dream for so long and this may be the only chance I’ll get so I’m taking it! I wish everyone watching this luck!
Next year I gotta go to the Theatre group at school. Aaargh! So excited! Developing characters comes to me naturally though, as I love reading and writing. I know exactly how the character shall be feeling. But. I can't express it at all. I think I seem kinda fake and overly emotional sometimes. Also I can't hold my body still and always do too much gestures. But hey, Gotta get through it!
Every director I've ever worked states "do not say umm (because the audience will think you messed up) and if you're going to think do so deliberately. Same as every speech (as I do public speaking) teacher/coach. But their method is to say uh or ah if you have to think. Acting isn't real. Its idealized. People are full with layers--hundreds even. Actors don't have time to be a complete human being.
Hey y’all! I’m a freshman with a secondary lead role in my play in 3 days. We are presenting the Play that goes Wrong. Now, it’s exactly what’s happening in the title, going horribly wrong. We are on day 5 of tech week, and everyone is an absolute wreck. The person with the top role decided to not memorize any of her lines! She was fired tonight, so…. Here we are. It’s horrible. The line deadline was 2 weeks ago. I need any general tips people with more experience would have for me. I’ve been acting for 3 years, so I know how everything works. My first high school production was a sixth grader. Please, TIPS.
I have a class project given by our English teacher to act an novel scenes, from Oliver Twist. I am so excited, I have an interest in acting, and this is my first time!!
My theater teacher wanted theater to be an easy class where we did nothing the whole semester, so she taught us NOTHING! But, i auditioned for Mamma Mia, our school's spring play, and got Donna's understudy. Its time for me to be good incase someone gets sick, because i wont embarrass myself in front of the whole school because of a sucky teacher.
Kendall, you are talking about "choices" (@ 1:04). What exactly do you mean by that? Do you have to choose a certain way of acting your part or something else?
Me and my friend are doing what is this feeling from wicked, we both fit Galinda, but she fits it more than me so I let her have it. Now I’m stuck with Elphie and I’m having problems on over exaggerating her misunderstood self :(
I want to be an actress but I feel a bit scared I want to think deeply and I want someone to evaluate what I am doing right or wrong I don't know where to start So where to start developing my acting talent I know this takes a bit of guts .
ok ok ok so here's the shtick... I think I'm better at film because I don't know how to make my movements on stage realistic if you know what i mean? Cause like I know I have to move, but in that situation, I wouldn't normally move. Like in a sad scene, I would probably lie down and sob but on stage I can't exactly do that. In an angry scene I would probably just stand there but on stage I have to move. SO, I can't exactly do that. Help
I have no idea what she's talkin about as a professional actor on the stage you have to learn how to project even if you're doing musicals you have to learn preparation for a stage you get this by going to acting school on top of everything else if you can't remember one line try to improvise there are so many ways of doing this profession that a lot of people have different opinions on it

Cg May omg same
Hello, did you become one?
I can see why a lot of famous actors went to Theatre first, seems to really open up your personality!
Only because high school drama classes don't have budgets for cameras and so forth.
I'd love to see a whole class with this woman. She seems like she'd be good at explaining different tactics
I hope i will be an actor someday
Javin Williams
So are you one ?
Are you a narcissist?
Did you make it ??? 🤭🤔
Isleiny Polanco I also want to know 😂

aw don't be so mean she's very cute and helpful
Also hidden tip: constonants. Notice how she said her words. Good for theater
Kosalina Rothowe Yes! I went to theater camp last year and they told us all to over-annunciate our consonants so that you can be heard by the crowd

In theatre you need the right physical features. A big head , big eyes , tall . you have to be seen well. Also you need a big voice.
Thank you

You can tell she’s a theater actress

Theater actors must remember long lines per performance compared to film actors that have shorter lines because of edits.
