The whole "killing the sky" strategy never made sense to me. 1) humans knew they needed the Sun as much as the machines, 2) any alternative source of energy the humans could exploit, the machines could, 3) absolutely no reason the machines couldn't build towers above the clouds and still get the power far more easily than the whole "breed a trillion copper tops" infrastructure (so yeah the concept of the Matrix itself is inefficient and pointless).

You should definitely watch The Animatrix. It's a bunch of short stories that delve more into the world of The Matrix. I particularly think you would appreciate the story of what happened to the world that ended in the machines taking over.
Seraph's name (as well as Sephiroth's) seems to come from 'seraphim', the highest order of angels in the Catholic mythology, I think I've read. They have seven pairs of wings, as Neo has seven pairs of tendrils going into his back in that final shining scene of self-sacrifice. (Sacrifice: to make sacred.) Seraph was supposedly one of Neo's predecessors as the One.
Also, per the wiki, Seraph behaves as a guardian, similar to a computer login screen equipped with a powerful Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol; to protect access to more important programming, it challenges anyone for the proper credentials. In this case, Seraph fights the challenger, allowing those with sufficient fighting skill (and the rightful reasons to access) to meet the Oracle. So Seraph is basically the world's most extra password organiser. ;)
Saraph was an agent from the first matrix, the paradise matrix, the werewolves and the ghost twins were agents from the second matrix, the horror matrix.
Sephiroth is more likely from the Kabbalah, Sefirot (Sephiroth is a straight alternate spelling), meaning the 10 attributes by which god manifests, or by which god can be known or recognized.

Also, The Brothers Grimm and Spectre. I would caution that not all the English language films she's been in are considered good necessarily, but that's not a reflection on her.
The "come at me" or "bring it" hand gesture is synonymous of Martial Artist Bruce Lee, if you recall what Mr Anderson (aka "Neo") said in original Matrix after his fighting upload., "I know Kung Fu".
The name of the track that was stressing Mary out in the climax is Neodammerung, which is a reference to Gotterdammerung, aka "the Twilight of the Gods", the last in Richard Wagner's cycle of four music dramas titled Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung, or The Ring for short), which is also where the piece of music Ride of the Valkyries comes from. It's also another name for Ragnarok. In this case however, it would be "the Twilight of Neo", more or less literally.

When Neo does the "come here" thing with his hand, I believe that's from a 1973 Bruce Lee film called Enter the Dragon. It's a very good film, but I don't know if it can be recommended to you. Anyway, it's really great that even if we've seen these films when we were kids, that we're able to see them again through the fresh eyes of first time watcher. Watch Enemy of the State staring Will Smith and Gene Hackman. Great 90s movie thriller and more relevant today then when it was released!! You'll love it I promise!
The humans started the war in the back story. The machines wanted peace but the humans were afraid of them so they tried to kill them all. You should check out the Animatrix shorts.
I'll add to those recommending the Animatrix. Some more deeper lore of the Matrix Universe. Also, very few reactors watch the Animatrix, so you'll show up on those searches.
The matrix trilogy was mostly filmed in Australia/New Zealand I think, and so loads of small parts are recognisable Australian, or English, actors that nobody in America would probably spot. You recognised Aida nicodemou, in the first film, but not Matt Doran(probably before your time on home and away). A university friend of mine knew Fiona Johnson(woman in the red dress). The big surprise for me, as a Farscape fan, I never realised until recently that Paul Goddard was an agent.
Now the real question is how are Neo and Trinity are still alive in The Matrix Resurrections? And where's Morpheus is he dead or is he alive in the 4th one we'll find out this Christmas.
Neo has the power to come back to life and the power to bring trinity back to life. The climax of the first two literally had them die and come back. So, it’s not surprising they’re still alive.
Neo being alive makes sense with the end of Revolutions, no? Trinity is far more of a stretch. We know why she's back, for full nostalgia, but hopefully in the actual movie they can make it make sense.
You mentioned this movie being released in the same year as the previous one. Another thing worth mentioning is the exact date: in most of the world it was on the 5th of November. Does that ring a bell? 😉
The one guy was an unplugged person that can NOT be taken by regular matrix agents. BUT agent Smith is different now and he took over an unplugged man, so that allowed him to send a copy of himself out into the real world with a human host body.
If you liked the original Charmed I highly suggest checking out the 90s movie The Craft. Charmed was made in direct response to trying to capitalize on that movie’s popularity at the time, so there are a lot of similarities between them.
"The Craft" is quite the cult classic. I don't know what it is about it, but it's one of those movies that stick in your head. I'm not sure I've re-watched it since it came out, but I remember much more about it than other movies of the period, for whatever that's worth.
You should watch The Animatrix. Parts one through 4. I believe part 4 is Kids backstory. It's been awhile since I watched it. The Second Renaissance Part 1 and 2. Final flight of the Osiris, and Kids Story.
Did you pick up the visual tone change at the end? Until then, the visual tone of the Matrix had been a slightly washed-out greenish tone, but at the end, it was very bright and vibrant. This is the next iteration of The Matrix - probably the one we'll see in the 4th movie.
Good point. Also shares a colour scheme with the natural sunlight Trinity caught a glimpse of before her death, possibly suggesting a move towards a restoration of Earth's natural abundance. The addition of machine-green to the sunset was a nice visual metaphor for the beautiful new age of human/machine co-operation.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps I said it was a theory, didn't say it was mine! It's fun to look into fan theories, am I not allowed to share trivia on a TH-cam comment section now?
If you want to know just how brilliant this series is, everything down to the music is a crafted masterpiece. I highly recommend checking out Sideway's youtube video "Decoding the Music of the Matrix" where he goes through sections of a doctorate level dissertation breaking down the film score.
Morpheus describes the Oracle as a guide. I think she "sees" a great deal, but isn't simply omniscient. Smith did seem to know he was is mortal danger when he recognized the scene of Neo laying in the pit and said, without seeming to know it, "Everything that has a beginning has an end". He didn't seem to know what the danger was, though, or how to defend against it, hence his panic.
30:48 no, matrix 4 is not a reboot. is a direct continuation of these movies, that's why it's called "Matrix resurrections" (because Neo is going to revive)
Monica Bellucci has been considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. As your review is from 2 years ago, I would wager someone has advised you to watch Irreversible or Malena?
@@jeremyfrost2636 - he is also the only actor who has the trifecta of appearing in Star Wars, Lord of the Rings AND The Matrix. Weaving has two out of three, Spence has the hat trick. ;)
I think I wanna reccommend Memento the Early Chris Nolan film to watch Trinity in another film and V for Vendetta to see Agent Smith in a more sympathetic role :) It's got Natalie Portman!
I love how you connected that the machines ends up deleting Smith trough Neo, because Neo is connected to Machine City, AKA, the source. There is also an interesting theory that Smith is in fact the chosen one without knowing it. And that Neo is just an anomaly. Because what the one should be capable of matches so much more to Smith's abilities. In the first Matrix, the Oracle even directly states that Neo isn't the one, however she states he is other times, and she has told others that Neo is the one. But she should know better than anyone about this. So why doesn't she say Smith is the one? Because she wanted change. She wanted something to change about the iterations of the Matrix, so she lied to everyone. The Architects seemingly confirms this theory by stating how the Oracle has been playing a "Very dangerous game." likely refering to this lie. And after all, having Smith be the one, and end up manipulating the fabric of the Matrix to the extent he does makes him so powerful that the Machines simply are unable to control him. Smith has grown out of their power to stop. The prophecy of the one states how the one will REUINITE WITH THE SOURCE in order to RESET THE MATRIX! And what ends up happening in the 3rd movie? Neo connects himself into the Matrix trough Machine City, aka the SOURCE. When Smith fully copies himself over Neo, he inadvertently connects himself directly to the source, he reunites with it. Meaning the process where the Matrix can reset starts, and the Machines gain access to destroy the one once again. This was the only hope the Machines possibly had in order to destroy Smith, hence why Neo used this to bring fourth peace between humanity and the machines, and the machines being logic based and made of data, upholds their end of the bargain once it was done.
Hard to swallow pill: The "real world" was another simulation. The Architect actually tried to explain this without giving it away. That's why Neo could control machines, and why Agent Smith could jump into Bane's body, why Niobe asks Morfeus in the end "Is this real?" and other references.
I heard about this theory, but then why machines made such a big "real world" if no one gonna see it anyway? Why they tried to break into Zion if it just another level of the Matrix, could've just send Agents or reboot it? And also in the new trailer it was shown that machines trying to resurrect Neo's body, but what's the point of doing that if none of this is real and he is already in the Matrix? Just connect him to the first level and wipe his memory off

Please don't forget to review The Animatrix. A series of short stylized stories that fill in the gaps to the stories, and adds more to lore
Enter The Dragon commentary would be awesome to see.
Love you so much Mary
Now the real question is how are Neo and Trinity are still alive in The Matrix Resurrections? And where's Morpheus is he dead or is he alive in the 4th one we'll find out this Christmas.
Maybe Neo and Trinity are people whose consciousness has been transferred to the Matrix and are therefore still alive.
Neo has the power to come back to life and the power to bring trinity back to life. The climax of the first two literally had them die and come back. So, it’s not surprising they’re still alive.
Not the 4th movie. It will be the 5th
Neo being alive makes sense with the end of Revolutions, no? Trinity is far more of a stretch. We know why she's back, for full nostalgia, but hopefully in the actual movie they can make it make sense.
Which her movie name is Persephone.
You mentioned this movie being released in the same year as the previous one. Another thing worth mentioning is the exact date: in most of the world it was on the 5th of November. Does that ring a bell? 😉
Here is your hint for Agent Smith's actor ... he is also Elrond
Hugo Weaving ( Agent Smith) is an Australian actor.
"I closed my eyes. Did she die? Is she OK?".... lol.
She'll be aight
Watching your reactions remind me of my brother. Give me hope that there are people who have no idea when watching a movie and what they say about it
You should watch The Animatrix.
The club scene always makes me miss the Matrix Online....
Also, there's a theory that agent Smith is actually 'the one' really interesting if you wanna look into it
Well, that theory seems off since The One goes into the code and then builds a new Zion.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps I said it was a theory, didn't say it was mine! It's fun to look into fan theories, am I not allowed to share trivia on a TH-cam comment section now?
To understand the hatred the machines have for humans, you need to watch the animatrix
If you want to know just how brilliant this series is, everything down to the music is a crafted masterpiece. I highly recommend checking out Sideway's youtube video "Decoding the Music of the Matrix" where he goes through sections of a doctorate level dissertation breaking down the film score.
I always liked Reloaded and Revolutions, they were unfairly maligned to me, so I'm glad you liked em Mary. And Navras is epic.
Really loving your hair, very pretty.
One thing I don’t understand. If the Oracle was inside Agent Smith, why didn’t Smith know that he will be deleted? He’s absorbed Oracle’s ability.
Because you can't see beyond your choices you do not yet understand.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps Makes sense if Smith couldn't grasp why Neo would sacrifice himself to save the machines.
This machine Neo speaks to in the Machine City is called Deus ex Machina what literally means God out of Machine.
30:48 no, matrix 4 is not a reboot. is a direct continuation of these movies, that's why it's called "Matrix resurrections" (because Neo is going to revive)
There is actually 5 matrix movies. Everyone forgets the Animatrix. It came out 2nd. Part of it shows how the machines began
I love the music in all these movies and its always funny to me everyone just forgets about smith being in a human body
Now watch Keanu Reeves in John Wick trilogy. Please?
Let's go Matrix 4!!!!!
Monica Bellucci has been considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. As your review is from 2 years ago, I would wager someone has advised you to watch Irreversible or Malena?
The Trainman is played by notable Kiwi actor Bruce Spence, who I wanna say has made a handful of appearances on this channel already.
I legit did not recognize him. He was excellent in Legend Of The Seeker.
@@jeremyfrost2636 - he is also the only actor who has the trifecta of appearing in Star Wars, Lord of the Rings AND The Matrix. Weaving has two out of three, Spence has the hat trick. ;)
@@radicaladz That's pretty awesome.
@@jeremyfrost2636 it is very awesome. You may also recognise him from Mad Max 2 and 3, Ace Ventura 2 and Dark City.
I think I wanna reccommend Memento the Early Chris Nolan film to watch Trinity in another film and V for Vendetta to see Agent Smith in a more sympathetic role :) It's got Natalie Portman!
This maybe a little later now but Animatrix is pretty cool too.
19:35 "Not to worry, we're still flying half a ship."
Enjoying the second and third movies *is* the popular opinion. Disliking them is hipster territory.
can't believe you don't know Hugo Weaving,he's Aussie
I did like all the movies but the first one has that special place since it was something new and was so amazing at first watch.
Just connect him to the first level and wipe his memory off
@@dropthealbummike8713 It's a solution to our natural rebelliousness. It's a side simulation to keep those who reject the main Matrix occupied.
