Sadly, if they unplug Neo when he's in the matrix, it will kill him. They have to make it to a phone to be unplugged.

The only explanation I've heard for the sentinels he destroys is that even when he isn't physically connected he still has a "wifi" connection that still allows him to feel and interact with it. Basically, he's intuitively hacking the sentinels and causing them to self destruct or malfunction in a way that destroys them.

Mary, if I'm not mistaken Keanu did all of the fighting choreography and wire work. He trained for months to be able to do that stuff for the first movie. They all did.

Yeah i never knew this but heard other day that Jet Li played Seriph originally, worked on the film for a year but he was annnoyed they tried to enhance his martial arts with special effect and cgi or whatever so he quit and replaced with another actor, some of his moves are still there but yeah. I also liked the Second Matrix but if you see the first Matrix 20 years after it was released, it is definitely going to have less impact. So many things have copied the first Matrix that it's ideas are no longer new anymore. But when The Matrix first came out, it was totally revolutionary.

Non-spoilery info: Seraphim, The Merovingion, Persephone, the ghosts and so on are remnant programs from previous versions of the Matrix. Agent Smith described elements of the previous versions in the first movie when he was "brain washing" Morpheus. The Architect, the Keymaker, the Agents (well maybe not Smith), and yes even the Oracle are definitely part of the Machines plan as they DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTE to the creation of "the One".

unfortunately there's three sources that tell A LOT more about the history and lore of The Matrix. Enter The Matrix, Matrix The Path of Neo, and the no longer accessible Matrix Online. But Mary, watch the movie again and listen to The Oracle and The Architect. Listen closely, they talk about Ghosts, Warewolves and 'unexplained paranormal things'.
Enter the Matrix was the best movie/video game crossover in the history of video games IMO. For example in the game you play the Niobe driving scene, getting to the point where you are behind the truck, you then as a cut scene catch Morpheus and circle round to the front, Morpheus leaps off your car and then the game takes over from that point with you driving again.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

From my understanding of the story, Neo is technically not a normal human being, some machine world coding (of the one) had been imprinted on him at birth (when it was time for the Matrix to undergo a new cycle). When he visited the Architect in the admin control room, he was basically able to unlock all of his programming capabilities (as all previous versions of Neo chose to save Zion from extinction).
So when Neo said "he can feel them" it's because he's still connected to the machine mainframe as he carries the code to reset the server. Which is how he displayed his newfound abilities.

    20 years old!
Crazy this was my first introduction to the Wachowski's biggest sci-fi franchise in Hollywood
I did not become a matrix fan until this one came out, still my #1 movie of 2003
I remember seeing it with my dad and my sister opening weekend
I absolutely loved this building upon the first movie's mythology expanding more
    with its philosophical ideas
Everyone of course wears the black leather attire, sunglasses, coats, and crazy hairdos when jacked in
Yes the movie is filled with so much dialogue being long-winded and at times the writing being pretentious
The leads come off as bland taking it so seriously
Still, The Wachowskis really stepped up from the first movie making incredible visuals, a futuristic perspective, and amazing action sequences
The Smith clone fight is the best action sequence in the whole trilogy and the freeway chase is continuously suspenseful
One of my favorite soundtracks too and the score by Don Davis is a great mixture of dub step meets orchestral
Still had one of the best cliffhangers in a trilogy
And thankfully fans have given it a critical reappraisal since its release
It has more than a handful of weighty topics; much more to say with the politics of choice, the existence of fate, and its importance
Is choice an illusion, everything is about causality, what if tomorrow war could just end; isn't that worth fighting for/dying for, is hope the delusion as our greatest strength and weakness, what is control?, we need machines and they need us
Plus it makes a statement on the insidious cycle of power even if it was too complex for people just wanting some kicks and flips
Seeing it as adolescence and teenage years with Neo still making his way through both the real world and the Matrix
Overall it's an massive improvement over the previous movie you just have trek through some rough patches

Naw, that hand gesture never came from this movie. It came from 70's kung fu movies. Most notably: Bruce Lee movies. But I'm sure it was done in Asian movies before Bruce went back there to shoot The Big Boss.

i'm glad you enjoyed the movie. i love all 3 Matrix films. oh and it's easy to miss on the first watch but you can clearly notice stunt doubles if you look for it on a 2nd watch. the scene where Neo is fighting the multiple Smiths for example, you can tell that it's Chad Stahelski and not Neo when some more complex moves are being performed. you can also tell that some of the Smiths further away from the camera aren't even Hugo Weaving. this was still amazing CGI and special effects for the time.

32:25 “How can Neo feel the Sentinels in the real world?” I will answer this with a question, How did Agent Smith enter Bane's body in the real world?. And the Architect laid clearly Neo is the sixth version of himself, Neo is not human but a program, then How come Neo, a program, is in the real world?. Lot of plot twists just in this second movie.

Keane Reeves is of Chinese descent and knows a few fighting styles. So he most likely does all of his own stunts. He does in John Wick l. So can't see why he don't here.

Incredible sequel and everything stepped up on every level.
So great that this and part 3 were hitting theatres same year, months apart.
Two things happened during it's release:
1.The Animatrix (anime short film collection) was mind-blowing with Final Flight of The Osiris as the prelude to Reloaded.
2.Enter The Matrix-the video game with Niobe (Jada Pinkett-Smith) & Ghost (Anthony Wong) takes place during Reloaded and was a very good game.
The character of Zee who is played by Nona Gaye (Marvin Gaye's daughter) was a recasting.
Aaliyah had been casted as Zee first.
She filmed scenes for both sequels and hadn't finished due to her untimely passing.
Keanu Reeves and Monica Bellucci (Persephone) have worked together before in Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).

  • @matthewwhite7473

Did Keanu Reeves learn how to fight?...
Yes, absolutely. This is another one of those great classic films where the actors were so invested they learnt the skills necessary to fight/ride motorcycles (in the case of Trinity)/handle & fire weapons.
This is one of the reasons I love films from this era. There was less fakeness to them, and you can really notice it during the watch.

13:06 Persephone from Greek/Roman Mythology (Roman name Proserpine). Daughter of Zeus (God of Thunder and King of the Gods) and Demeter (Goddess of the Harvest) - yes they were brother and sister, and he's married to their other sister Hera and mostly slept with/attacked Demeter out of jealousy when he found out about her affair with one of his sons (the result of another affair) Iasion. By birth Persephone (meaning 'bringer of death', her birth name was Kore - the maiden) is the Goddess of Spring, by her marriage to her uncle Hades (God of the Dead, King of the Underworld, God of Wealth) she's the Queen of the Underworld. Some say she was kidnapped and forced into marrying Hades, others say she married him willingly, in any case because she ate the seeds from a pomegranate which grew in the underworld she has to spend one month of the year for every seed she ate with her husband, the rest she spends with her mother - who whenever her daughter leaves her becomes so depressed she stops anything from growing, including the flowers and the crops. It's how the ancient greeks explained the changing seasons.
