Sadly, if they unplug Neo when he's in the matrix, it will kill him. They have to make it to a phone to be unplugged.
The only explanation I've heard for the sentinels he destroys is that even when he isn't physically connected he still has a "wifi" connection that still allows him to feel and interact with it. Basically, he's intuitively hacking the sentinels and causing them to self destruct or malfunction in a way that destroys them.
Mary, if I'm not mistaken Keanu did all of the fighting choreography and wire work. He trained for months to be able to do that stuff for the first movie. They all did.

Actually, bruce lee has done that "Come here" hand gesture in his movies.
Same with the nose flick/rub thing that Neo does in the first matrix dojo fight scene. They’re all nods to Bruce Lee films.
Yeah i never knew this but heard other day that Jet Li played Seriph originally, worked on the film for a year but he was annnoyed they tried to enhance his martial arts with special effect and cgi or whatever so he quit and replaced with another actor, some of his moves are still there but yeah. I wished it had been Jet Li in the final movie, no offence to the other actor but what a shame....
its a reference to bruce lee as he "brought kung fu" to Hollywood

Bane isn’t just a traitor. He’s Agent Smith. Smith replicated himself onto Bane in the matrix, then answered the phone call pulling Smith into Bane’s real world mind. Smith literally is in Bane now in the real world.
A lot of reactors seem to miss this somehow. I thought the scene where Smith literally takes over his body and answers the phone AND how he speaks exactly the same as Smith makes it pretty obvious.

its frustrating too because that actor does an amazing job replicating Hugo Weaving's mannerisms as Smith
unfortunately there's three sources that tell A LOT more about the history and lore of The Matrix. Enter The Matrix, Matrix The Path of Neo, and the no longer accessible Matrix Online. But Mary, watch the movie again and listen to The Oracle and The Architect. Listen closely, they talk about Ghosts, Warewolves and 'unexplained paranormal things'.
Enter the Matrix was the best movie/video game crossover in the history of video games IMO. For example in the game you play the Niobe driving scene, getting to the point where you are behind the truck, you then as a cut scene catch Morpheus and circle round to the front, Morpheus leaps off your car and then the game takes over from that point with you driving again.
Enter The Matrix & Path To Neo are gold. They should teach the rest of the industry how to adapt, to integrate, and to complement movie storylines into video games.
The "come here" hand gesture is actually a Bruce Lee reference the same as in the first Matrix film when Neo is fighting Morpheus and Neo bounces side to side and flicks his nose before settling into his fighting stance and also the "come here" hand gesture Neo does to Agent Smith in the train station fight.

I also liked the Second Matrix but if you see the first Matrix 20 years after it was released, it is definitely going to have less impact. So many things have copied the first Matrix that it's ideas are no longer new anymore. But when The Matrix first came out, it was totally revolutionary.
The idea of the matrix wasn't revolutionary at all, it's a very old and very common sci-fi trope.
@@moiseman A false world meant to enslave humanity had definitely been a trope since ancient times, but it was the unique way it used this trope and the movie's structure as a whole that was revolutionary. It's influence on popular culture worldwide is unquestionable. That alone shows how crazy and fresh it was.

It's ironic that in the first film Smith compared humanity to a virus then became a virus himself I wonder if that was something that was planned from the beginning or it just happened when they were writing the script for Reloaded
The hand gesture by morphis did not originate with him. It was actually started by Bruce Lee. He may have done it in a few. I believe he did it warner bros movie, Enter the Dragon.
that's the funny thing about references isn't it? I'm sure more people have seen this than enter the dragon, and it's been referenced so many times it's almost part of the grammar of the genre
Yeah, it's more elaborate in the first one. When Neo and Morpheus fight, Neo shakes his body and scratches his nose which is a Bruce Lee move and Morpheus in return does the "let's go" gesture to show him that he knows Jeet Kune Do as well.
And if we stick with just Morpheus: he did it in the first Matrix movie as well, so it didn't originate with this film either. No matter who originated it.

Fun Fact: Carrie Ann Moss was actually terrified of Motorcycles, and she used the highway scene as a means to get over it. you can see in some scenes in that segment how nervous she was on her face.

To answer your question, yes: about 90% of what you see in terms of the fight scenes is Keanu doing it himself. He's a dedicated actor.
Probably why they were able to film it as clearly as they did. You can always tell what's going on in every fight scene? Probably no stunt doubles to hide.
Also kudos for Carry Ann Moss, she was actually piloting that motorcycle.

It is funny. Very few people ever point out that Morpheus told Smith that all Agents look the same. Then Smith decides to turn everyone into a clone of himself.
The highway chase scene, that music is so good I actively searched and watched that scene many times in TH-cam.
In the first movie, when Neo is detained by the police, about to be interrogated by the agents, we can see the camera view enter the scene through a video-screen. That was one of the screens in the Architect's room.
Oh Yeah, nice catch, i never really noticed that, i have seen the original Matrix film probably more then any film ever made, well along with the Dark Knight, only seen Matrix Reloaded maybe 3 times...

I read that before his role in the Matrix he trained jiu-jitsu, karate, judo, boxing and some other stuff, so he's skilled allright 😁👍
Keanu, yeah he really got into it martial arts making this movie and did quite a few of the stunts and fighting himself and continued on with Martial arts even after the movies ended.
They ALL trained for their roles.
This film is fun and it has definitely grown on me in recent years but imo it is in no way better than the first. The first is a classic that spurred years of memes and copycats. The second is a fun sci Fi action movie with some shitty dialogue here and there and some really dated special effects.
But this movie is pointless. It doesn’t progress the story. You could completely bypass this to Revolutions without missing anything

The Merovingian saying "Mark my words boy, I have survived your predecessors and I will survive you" at 16:00 is a very important line!
Neo's first introduction to the iterations of the Matrix.
No, the first introduction to the previous iterations of the Matrix & the One is stated in the first movie when Morpheus told Neo the story about the One who freed the first of humanity & created Zion. Also, Agent Smith was telling a lot about the first iteration of the Matrix, which humanity rejected because it was too perfect.
Non-spoilery info: Seraphim, The Merovingion, Persephone, the ghosts and so on are remnant programs from previous versions of the Matrix. Agent Smith described elements of the previous versions in the first movie when he was "brain washing" Morpheus. The Architect, the Keymaker, the Agents (well maybe not Smith), and yes even the Oracle are definitely part of the Machines plan as they DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTE to the creation of "the One".

It's not 'Agent' Smith anymore, just Smith.
The reason Persephone only shot one of two those men and let the other one go is because she wanted the Merovingian to catch her in the act of helping Neo and the others. That way, she could rub his face in the fact that she was betraying him, and let him know that it was payback for his infidelity with the blonde woman in the restaurant. Rewatch the scene, and check out that satisfied smile on her face when he arrives at the Chateau all flustered and sees what she's up to.
Neo's powers in real world you can understand as 'wifi connection'. He can overload some of machines to take them down.
Glad to see this from you, Mary! Not a lot of people enjoy the 2nd and 3rd films, so it's cool to see you dive into the conclusion.

You should also watch the Bourne Trilogy and see if #3 holds up to 1 & 2.
Concur on the Animatrix suggestions. It was released before this one, so you can watch it any time you want, really. But interesting shorts in various animation styles that explain some story elements as well as some that simply take place in the same universe.
The fact he used his powers outside of the matrix was supposed to be surprising. No one knew about it, even him at the time
But does he have those powers outside the Matrix though? After all, sometimes when you exit Windows, you're simply in Linux.

Yeah that scene is the giveaway that Zion is also inside a program, the matrix is a simulation inside of a simulation.
I thought it was that Neo the program was so powerful, it even over-wrote his real self. Same way Agent Smith was able to over-write Bane.
I love The Matrix trilogy. Especially the sequels. Can't wait for the fourth film. I hope it's good.

The neo multi Smith fight was something to behold when I saw it in the cinema and to properly fill this universe out you have to see the animatrix which will answer a lot of your questions..... if you're a fan of synth Mary check out jean Michel Jarre.
Keanu Does most or all his stunts. The John Wick movies are definitely Keanu doing the stunts and should be another series to dive into.
one thing it seems you're confused about when you wanted them to get neo out during his fight with Smith he has to go to the location of a Hardline before they can unplug him

The key maker is the Doctor who works on John Wick at the beginning of John Wick 3, along with Morpheus who plays the King of the Bowery
You need to watch The Animatrix. They tie directly into these films and are 100% Matrix canon.
If you can, I'd suggest wacthing the Animatrix short films as well.

The two Albino twins are quite literally 2 paint and decorating brothers from England. another fun fact they painted my utility room.
Wow I didn't know that, all this time I thought they were the brothers from the boy band BROS they were famous singers from England in the 90s and later became actors. One of them is also in Blade 2, Luke or Matt Goss as a vampire.
Matt and Luke Goss could literally have played the twins and nobody would have noticed the difference. Both have English accents too.

Note that Seraph and the Oracle are gold colored code to Neo's vision which means they are firmware programs. The Keymaker was not a man but a program, a redundant program who managed to keep from getting deleted by Agents by taking shelter with the Merovingian (the Frenchman) because he was useful. The Frenchman is also a program but one designed to traffick and smuggle information and redundant programs, I know it's confusing but when you understand the concept it makes sense.
The Frenchman's henchmen for instance, are creatures of biblical origin. Persephone (Queen of the Underworld from the Greek mythology) shot Abel with a silver bullet, and his brother Cain went to find Frenchman. He also has vampires and werewolves in his service which you don't see in the movie but you meet them in the games. These monsters come from another version of the Matrix which was designed to make people suffer. Others like Seraph are like the archangels that come from the Paradise Matrix, where every human being is a child forever and everyone was meant to be happy. Seraph was supposedly an Agent from that old Matrix.
Yeah, The Matrix Reloaded isn't better than the first movie🤦♂️.

Naw, that hand gesture never came from this movie. It came from 70's kung fu movies. Most notably: Bruce Lee movies. But I'm sure it was done in Asian movies before Bruce went back there to shoot The Big Boss.
From my understanding of the story, Neo is technically not a normal human being, some machine world coding (of the one) had been imprinted on him at birth (when it was time for the Matrix to undergo a new cycle). When he visited the Architect in the admin control room, he was basically able to unlock all of his programming capabilities (as all previous versions of Neo chose to save Zion from extinction).
So when Neo said "he can feel them" it's because he's still connected to the machine mainframe as he carries the code to reset the server. Which is how he displayed his newfound abilities.
Neo is a sentient program on its sixth version. The Architect designed the green world “perfect” and Zion is a virtual world designed by the Oracle.
@ what's the evidence for Zion being virtual instead of a city built by machines as controlled opposition?
Keanu did have a stunt double that did some of the harder wire work and such.

My favorite part of this movie is Neo fighting all the Agents Smith and Morpheus fighting on the freeway.

Neo would have survived if the building exploded as soon as they opened the door, and the Keymaker apparently was always meant to die right there.

actually the first movie was my favorite because I knew absolutely nothing about it.. no trailer no memes.. no internet chatter... I went to the movies.. and there it was .. "what's this?" and was completely freaked in the first 10 minutes.. and hooked for the rest.

Matrix Reloaded literally builds upon the first movie, expands the characters, the lore and philosophy in an interesting way, and uses the increased budget to create some of the most epic fight and action scenes in all of cinema, it is the best movie of the trilogy. I'm convinced that the people who say the first movie is better, some even go as far as to say it's the only good movie of the trilogy, are just repeating a mantra they've heard from someone else without giving much thought to it.

You said in the first film that you did not get Trinity falling in love with Neo. You did not understand that she knew all about Neo well before they met. Now you say this film is better than the first ?? lol what ever. When you watch the first film with a mind set of (its metaphoric) then it all makes a bit more sence. But hay all the best with your channel Mary I do not want to come across as a troll, I just think the first film is a masterpiece.
