  • I have just seen this new easy resin system from Hilti and it looks really good!! and it is easy to use .
    I also saw some good new technology that will speed up the installation of all types of resin anchors and bolts using a scanner attached to a drill that will automatically adjust the torque of the anchor type to the correct levels every time

    Hilti is freaking insane, in a good way.

    That is seriously impressive technology. Being able to audit the applied torque to a large number of fixings will be a great help I would guess.

    Hi Robin. I recently moved an automotive lift in my garage. When it was first installed we used wedge anchors. This time I used the Hilti system of resin anchors. I did that just about a month ago. It is right as rain. I have put many cars in the air since. At the top of the racks, I tied them into my rafters ties, thus reducing any tendency for the base plates to move. The top acts as a big lever, so the amount of force on the bottom is reduced. The heaviest vehicle I lift is maybe a pickup truck. I’d like to put that Mercedes van of yours in the air. But u would have to come to California for me to do that. I built myself a small pool, 12x28. No garden room. No floor heating. No fancy hybrid water heater. But I still swim in it. I still use the jacuzzi 3 times a week even in the winter. I love your house and all the fancy work u do on it. U would absolutely laugh if u saw my 25x28 garage. But it has my two racks in it, and I whistle while I work.

    If Hilti are not marketing this into commercial fleet management (buses, lorries, kwikfit etc) they are missing a trick. This solves a real problem with wheel detachment issues, and provides an electronic audit of wheel nut torque management. Many places just rattle the nuts on and don’t check the torque - swap the impact wrench for one of these and it’s automatic, mit audit trail. A no brainier imo. The insurance industry would probably discount insurance costs with such a system in place.

      Nice thinking outside the box for a use for the impact wrench... 👍

      Exactly what I was thinking. Which makes me think I'd stick to traditional chem fixings if it's cheaper.

    Robin, I would love an opportunity to discuss with Hilti the costs of their anchors compared to competitors (Simpson) here in the US. The difference is more than 5x. I love Hilti products and use many of them. But I can’t justify the difference in many of their products, and having to comparison shop constantly, just pushes US builders towards a cheaper competitor product.

      I find that often the published prices are not the end rate once trade discounts are applied etc, I know that there are cheaper alternatives but I often cost the Hilti fixings in at the pricing stage so I know I have them covered

    I member the first time I used to fix a floating oak mantle piece dtilled the hoe in the wall and the oak put the resin in the holes put the threaded rod in. Then 2 minutes later got informed the position had changed, couldn't pull it off as it was set . Ended up cutting the rods with the ricipricating saw

    Hilti have such amazing tech but the issue is the cost of a tube of Hilti hit or a box of 20 Hilti Thunderbolts is extortionate. Their pricing of everyday construction fittings is just ridiculous.

    Do those glued-in concrete screws count as security fixings (e.g for bike racks). i.e are they glued strongly enough that you can't actually undo the screw?

    • @ukconstruction
      @ukconstruction  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely!! they would need smashing out!!

    • @xxwookey
      @xxwookey 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ukconstruction OK. good to know. It seems to me that there is some risk of the little glue packet just ending up in the bottom of the hole if the hole is too deep.
      Do the instructions tell you to be careful about hole depth, or is there a stiffener in the packet to make sure it goes alongside the concrete screw, or does the system rely on trapping the packet beside the screw before driving it home?

    Very impressive but given the cost of hilti tools whats the cost of a torque wrench compared to the cost of that plus most places where using correct amount if torque i.e anchor bolts of head studs this wouldnt be allowed

    Anyone know if the chemical sets in green concrete or does it have to be 30 days cured ?

  • @MelbourneAlan
    @MelbourneAlan 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    great inovation. they missed a major selling point to me. thats if you only want a small no of fixings you dont need to open a whole tube and fill the nozzle each time , wasting all that expensive resin. you only use the amount needed and its ready to go instantly .
    with the double tube resin you have to save up all your bolts and do at least a tube at a time . that can be a pain sometimes. with these you can use it when ever you want and do them as you get to them .

    • @samuelmellars7855
      @samuelmellars7855 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Urgh, yes. I occasionally need to put one or two studs in with chemical anchor. And inevitably, you use about a 10th of a tube, then the next time you need to use it, it's not any good. Last time I tried to use a tube for a second go, only one of the components came out!

  • @user-cx4ll4rj1t

    @3:18 his answer about different colours was stupid - I think its because the wrapper holding the chemicals had different colour print on it. The chemicals in the package should be mixed and uniform. Makes you winder how some people get a job and hold on to it. I'd rather a person say they did not know rather than give a dumb answer because now I cant trust anything the guys says.

    I bet it performs better without the foil in the hole.
    And then you have to explain why you are not cleaning the holes.

    • @ZephyrWestWind
      @ZephyrWestWind 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The thin foil is completely shredded in hole. Screw holds by cutting into concrete and glue just mixes with dust to create solid surface area for the thread to rest on. All this is ETA certified for 50years of lifespan. It hold on completely different principle than normal chemical anchor.

    A building site is not the place you would expect to find a nerd, it’s already reached the motor trade, farm workers need to have an advanced knowledge of computers to operate the latest equipment, fishermen use complicated sonar equipment, now the building trade.
