Because it is the correct way to measure capacity of a battery. Nowadays there's 18, 20, 22, 24, 28, 36, 40, 54 V tools and batteries. You can imagine that 18v 8ah battery is not the same as 22v 8ah or 36v 8ah. While the designation 8ah is the same, the voltage is different and that gives you different watt hours. For example cordless dust extractor have a socket for two 18v to make it run at 36v and a dedicated socket for a 36v battery. Most people would assume that 2x10ah batteries at 18v are better than 6ah battery at 36v. But once you do the math it comes down to 2x10ah at 18v are 180 watt hours. And 6ah at 36v is 216 watt hours. To me this is the correct way to represent the power that a battery can hold because there's a lot of different voltages in the power tool world. I personally applouse Hilti to have the guts to finally educate people and open their eyes. Most brands are just trying to sell you their stuff.
The B 22-170 and B 22 255 have extra connections allowing for more power and gas tank. These are made completely different than even Hilti's previous cordless line (which is similar to everything out there).
I’m a believer in this new Nuron battery platform. I own the TE 6-22 SDS and the TE 60-22 SDS MAX and they work great! Lots of power!!! I feel that these tools just WORK!!! I own Milwaukee too but slowly adding more Hilti tools because of warranty, customer service instead of a Home Depot worker, and Hilti being a place I can walk in with my tools and get them fixed-Milwaukee doesn’t have that part. The number of cells are the same in the longer and shorter batteries. Different cell type though. Likely the older 18650 vs 21700. More banks means higher discharge rating. You can have low bank count high discharge cells, but those tend to have crappy life and/or total charge capacity.
There is no loss of Ah here, just rounding: Hilti has 6s battery, so 3.6V nominal per cell *6 =21.6V~22V. The cells are actually (55Wh) and 4.0Ah*21.6=86.4Wh (85Wh). I think Wh are easier to compare as brands tend to play with voltage (DeWalt 20V Max that is actually 18V)
Okay this video is a year old now. What occurs to me is when I visit the Dutch Hilti page and search for the accu packs they will show Ah not Wh. Perhaps they still changed it in the past year?
There is a 5.2 amp called the B22-110 but only available in Europe we have been telling hilti in Australia to get them here forget the 2.3 & 4 we want the 5.2 amp

I currently have the impact, cut out tool, and screwgun. I agree that the 55 wa battery is perfect for the impact. I can use one all day basically on the second speed setting. For some reason though the screwgun absolutely murders the charge on the 55 and even the 85 battery. The 85 is already pretty cumbersome for the screwgun, so I definitely don't want to size up to the 170, but its just not lasting very long on the 85. I think part of the problem. Anyone else have the screwgun and notice this? Also, every battery sits lose in the charger. If I pick up the charger with a battery in it the battery feels like its going to fall out, and has a lot of side to side play. It does not feel secure in the charger at all. That's with the C4 charger.
I mostly use the impact, recip, drill and vac. I have had a failure with the small vacuum. Can't figure it out so I'm going to have to send it in for service.
I'm betting the decision to change to watt hrs was made by the marketing department, to fool people into thinking they are getting more because they are used to seeing amp hr.
but the problem is hilti's 4ah is the same capacity of milwaukee's 5ah or very close to. Ah is depends on voltage, wh don't so it is the physical size, much more comparable.
I've always loved Hilti and have a ton of their tools. Havent got any with neuron batts yet tho. Honestly it really bugs me how on everything they made before neuron the batteries fit on the tools so well now these neuron batts are just huge and weird looking

The 4Ah is bigger cause the 21700 cells as well as the 8 and 12ah. The 2.5 ah just standard 18650 cells
Correct. It would be hard to add just 1 cell (3.6V) to a 22V system

Company uses Hilti, it's big and clunky but durable as all get out. When I rough-in I'm significantly less than gentle and they hold up great.
The newer nuron tools are starting to shed some extra lbs here and there.

Wish Hilti would have kept the 5ah battery instead of the 4. Great tools overall love the NPR32 press tool.

The difference between the 55 wh and 85wh is not an additional cell. That would change the voltage. The difference is the size of the cells.

Hilti does this traditionally. The smallest battery in every voltage teir is always a basic 18650 size battery
